  • Anybody know anything about ActiveX?

    Okay...here's the warning I get:

Internet Explorer was unable to start Macromedia Flash 6. Please make sure your browser security settings allow you to "download signed ActiveX controls," "run ActiveX controls and plug-ins," and "script ActiveX controls marked safe for scripting."

Problem is: I have all but turned off security. Enabled all these things to run. I am not behind a firewall and have turned off my virus scan (for the moment). I keep getting the same error over and over and over. Is this controled somewhere OTHER than Internet Explorer on my system? It is really irritating me. Oh and, yes, Macromedia Flash 6 is installed.

    I get this message:

If Macromedia Flash 6 has installed successfully, you will see an "OK" button below.

I see an OK button and click on it and am taken back to the above message. It's a vicious circle! Grrrrrrrr.

  • The fire department diabled my car by cutting the battery cables. Can they do this?

I am smoking mad. I realize that they can because they did, but I am angry. My husband ran into a ditch. No big deal but the tire came off the rim and the car had to be towed. While waiting for the tow truck, the police, fire department, and EMS showed up! He has no idea who called. Anyway, while he was on the phone to the tow truck guy, the fire guys CUT THE CABLES leading to the battery. They "claimed" it was "standard procedure". What the heck? I am thinking of taking them to small claims court to get the cost of the repair back. Has anyone ever heard of such a thing? It was a simple car verses ditch, no gasoline spill or anything. The airbag didn't even go off.

  • Wanted: Anti drug slogan?

My niece is entering a contest in school (1st grade) and is to create a catchy anti-drug slogan. Anybody got any ideas other than the ones already out there (Hugs not Drugs and Just Say No)?

Thanks in advance. Needless to say, 10 points to best answer!

  • Start, Search, All Files and Folders has stopped working. Why?

When I click on Start, then Search, then All Files and Folders and search for the name of a file I know is on my computer, the search ends with "Search is complete. No documents to display." I am searching for a file name - not a name contained within a file. I have also seen this tip as a solution:

Install tweakUI from Microsoft, once installed open it and go to the "DESKTOP" tab, scroll down to "Show Search Results". Place an check mark in this box. Somehow there are some progs out there that screw with this setting.

However, when I go to that tab on TweakUI, I do not have a box "Show Search Results".

This is very annoying. Any suggestions would be appreciated. It isn't like I didn't go look first.

  • Do you wish you could search your own yahoo answers?

Don't you wish there was a way to search your answers for specific questions that you answered?

I find myself constantly running across questions to which I gave a great answer to some time ago and then get tired of searching through my prior answers for that one particular questions that I answered months ago that I think would be a great answer to the re-asked question.

    Wow...say that three times fast.

  • Any cool ideas for gravesite decorations?

I'd like to make my Dad's gravesite unique, or cheery, or anything but ordinary. We aren't religious, so save the church themed items. I live in Ohio, so it would have to make it through the winter.

    Thanks in advance.

  • Attention are you an only child...What are the perks of being an only child?

Growing up the oldest of 8 girls, I often wondered what it would be like to be an only child. Do only children WANT siblings or is it cool being the only one?

  • How to eliminate a nuisance groundhog.?

A friend of mine is obsessed with getting rid of a groundhog that has taken to disrupting his lawn and eating his tomato plants and sunflowers. Shooting it is not an option because he lives in the city. Got any solutions (not dumb ones like dynamite or hand grenades)?

  • Name of the tool to detect break in an invisible dog fence.?

I am looking for the the name of that wand-like tool that you can use to walk around the yard and detect a break in the underground wire of an invisible dog fence. It works much like a metal detector only it emits a signal over the underground wire but when it comes to a break in the wire, the signal stops. How it knows this, I'm clueless...all I know is I want one but I can't get one if I don't know the name. Do you?
