  • Where can you get training on ADP software?

I've been working in HR for a while, but the one thing I am lacking is experience in ADP. Does anyone know where I can get experience in ADP without working for a company that owns the rights?

  • how can I stop shows from being cancelled?

I saw an article today that mentioned Mercy and Trauma as two shows that might be cancelled. How can I stop these shows from being cancelled? I hate reality TV and that seems to be the only thing that gets renewed (i.e. American Idol, do they really have to show that every night?) How can we tell the networks that's not what we want? (without being a Neilson family.)

  • Dog walkers - I want to start dog walking and have some questions?

I want to walk dogs to earn money on the side while I am unemployed (I've been laid off for three months and money is very tight.) This question is really directed towards *dog walkers* - if you're not a dog walker, please don't reply. First of all - I own two dogs, both German Shepherd mixes, so I am very comfortable with handling large strong willed dogs, and I have owned dogs (mostly huge labradors) all my life, so I am not new to dogs or dog behaviors. I plan on only walking dogs in my apartment complex - it's huge (over 400 units) and very dog friendly, so I am sure I will get a good base to start with. I already know many of the dogs in the complex, and bully breeds are banned here. I have an advertising plan in mind that includes flyers and posting on the apartment community services website.

    My questions are:

    1) I carry personal liability insurance in the amount of $100,000. Do you think this will cover me should something go wrong? Is there another type of policy you carry? I live in California.

    2) What rates do you suggest? I am willing to go on the low side since it's a tough economy and I plan on only walking in my complex. We have an on-site dog park.

    3) I also plan on offering a few other services, such as overnight care and very light cleaning (pick up morning dishes/getting everyone off to school messes and prep items for dinner). If you have experience pricing these items, let me know.

  • Time not being updated on my laptop?

This is a recent problem - as of the last couple of months, when I turn off my laptop or put it in standby, the time does not update when I turn it back on. That is to say, it displays the same time/date as the last time I had it on. I updates while working on it, and I can go in and change the date/time, but it never fails, the next time I turn it on, it displays the last time I had it on. I am working in Windows XP Media, I've had the laptop for about 3 years now, and this only started a month or two ago - you wouldn't think it would be frustrating, but it really is!! How can I fix it?

  • I was laid off a week ago and it appears the company has replaced me with the boss' wife?

I live in California - it is my understanding that you can't be laid off and immediately replaced with someone else. I am not 100% positive they are paying her (since she is an owner, I guess she could be working for free) but the other owner's wife works for the company and she makes more than a reasonable salary for what she does.(she's in accounting and makes $150K a year.) I was NEVER told that it was a performance issue and in fact always received excellent performance reviews and got big raises every year (10-15%). I was told I was being laid off because of money issues, and my duties would be redistributed amongst existing employees...but no more than a week goes by and the boss' wife is sitting in my old office??

  • Good fried seafood in OC

I recently moved from the east coast and I need a fried seafood fix. I'm talking about clam strips, clam cakes, etc. Does anyone know a great place in Orange County to get this kind of stuff? In Rhode Island, you can get this kind of stuff just about anywhere, but I am having a hard time finding it in the OC. thanks!

  • can anyone help me identify a goldfish?

A coworker is on vacation and unfortunately, her goldfish died (it wasn't my fault!! His rear end got sucked into the filter before she left, and we knew he probably wouldn't make it due to the damage.) I want to replace him for her before she returns. I've been to a few pet & speciaty fish stores and I can't find this little guy. I don't know much about goldfish, so I was thinking someone could help me identify what I am looking for. He was completely orange with a couple of white markings on his tail, very round, and had a relatively short tail. He did not have any growths on his head. His eyes did not bulge out. He looked a little bit like some of the Pearl Scale fish I've seen pictures of online, but he didn't have those distinctive pearls under the scales. I was told by another co-worker that he had circular scales (not sure how common that is.) He had definite problems with swim bladder. Any ideas of what type this could be?

  • How do you convince tree rats to go somewhere else?

I have a tree rat that comes on my porch quite regularly - I call him Frankie. Frankie doesn't bother me, but he sure bothers the dog! He likes to climb inside my BBQ grill (especially in inclement weather.) Since we have a lot of cats and other animals that wander around the complex, I really don't want to use poison, for fear of poisoning something that's not a rat. How can I convince them to go somewhere else?

  • I have white crystally/powdery stuff growing on my plants.?

This white stuff is only growing at the base of each leaf, where it attaches to the branch. So far, it is growing on my gardenia and mandevilla, and it is killing both of them. Any ideas? I've tried several insecticide/fungicides and none of them have worked so far. The branches have turned a weird shade of brown and about half of the leaves are dead. Buds die and fall off before they have a chance to bloom. I live in southern California, so it is hard enough keeping my plants alive in the summer heat!!

  • What do you do with a mean doggie?

My Shepard/chow mix is always sooo mean to other dogs...she acts like she will be nice, until the other dogs gets close to her face. Then it's like something inside her snaps; she growls and jumps for the other dog. I've been trying to keep her away from other dogs, but it is hard, as I live in an apartment complex where others like to walk their doggies off-leash. Does anyone have any suggestions? She's 4 years old now, but she wasn't always mean like this and nothing traumatic happened to her to make her like this.
