  • Is it a red flag when a man hates his mother?

because she has offended him in the past?

  • He hates his mother. Is this a red flag?

I seem to keep dating men who either don't have a good relationship with their mother, have an estranged mother, or their mother is deceased and they are still grieving it. As a result they have a ton of issues and the relationships never get off the ground.

I just met a guy who told me on the phone that he hasn't spoken to his birth mother in years because every time they used to talk she would say something hurtful to him. When he would ask her to repeat it she would delete the hurtful part of her statement. He decided that he would have nothing to do with her. He said he joked when he was younger and he accidentally cut himself that he was trying to "bleed the Pollack out" because his birth mother is Polish. I told him Polish people wouldn't like that kind of statement. But he adores his stepmother who raised him since he was a toddler.

    Red flag?

  • Should I date an ex-con?

Our first date was lovely. He seemed so sweet, attentive and considerate. He is poor but in school to finish his degree at 36. Rides a bike. Says he doesn't need a car. Then I went home, did my research and discovered he served four months in jail on felony assault for a fist fight with other guys. This was 4 years ago. Previously he got busted for burglary (stunt riding his bike on a building), trespass and a DUI. I asked him about the felony and he told me about everything else. He was worried I would dump him because other people will not give him a chance. To complicate things we are different races, and my family does not like his race of people. I lied and told them he is black. If I keep dating him and they find out his race as well as his criminal history I am afraid it will create a wedge between me and my family. Should I just walk away? I do not know what to do.

  • He's nice but broke?

And by broke I mean really broke. He says he can't afford to take a woman to dinner. He lives with roommates and rides a bike because he had to sell his car, and he's in school working on a second career. He's also in his late 30s. I'm in my 30s, too, but a little better off than this guy. Other than that he seems to be a nice guy. Should I give him a chance or kick him to the curb for being broke?

  • What should I tell this older guy?

Asking again because the answers were cryptic.

I am in my late 30s. He's in his late 50s. Met online but not in person yet. In his profile he mentions his need for sex twice, and says he is looking for a long term, short term or casual sex relationship. I am definitely not looking for casual sex. He is tall, nice looking, otherwise charming and seems intelligent and successful in life. His first message to me was that he wants to be my boyfriend. I took that as a just a pick up line. I blew him off, but he emailed me again saying he still wants to be my boyfriend. He is a different race and I do not want to be some goal to check off on his bucket list. What say you all?

  • What's causing knee pain?

I think it was my lcl that started hurting during one of my long runs. I was about 2 hours into it when it happened. I had just gotten over achilles tendon injuries. I then did the whole resting, icing, aqua running thing. After a few weeks I thought I'd have no more problems, but today I was running and a little lcl area pain came back during the last 3 minutes of my 30 minute run.

Once I sat down for a few minutes both knees started aching. This is not the first time my knees have ached well after I finished running, but I'm wondering why this is happening. My doctors say, "You're fine. You're fine," so if anyone else has answers I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

  • Guys: Which thing is a deal breaker?

This is so much fun. Let's ask again for more responses!

Which numbers would make you run for the door? My friends and I each have some (not all) of these traits so this is for kicks! Don't worry about offending anybody.

#1 She was in an accident and used to be disabled but not anymore

#2 She has surgical scars on her breasts

#3 She has a thick belly

#4 Her toes are really long or really short

#5 She has a crazy tattoo on her shoulder

#6 She has a third nipple

    #7 She's over 35

    #8 Lots of sexual experience

    #9 Very little sexual experience

    #10 She's financially poor

    #11 Flat butt

#12 She makes a lot more money than you

  • Why did he show up again?

No replies so I'm asking again.

I dated this guy a year ago. He sometimes would say he'd call me or text me on a certain day and then he wouldn't, or he'd ask to take me out and then cancel the day or two before with a cold or a work obligation. The last time he texted to cancel something important for me we had a falling out and he all but dumped me via text. He promised to call the next day. He didn't until much later. I told him we could end with a friendship and he agreed via text (of course). For a few more weeks he texted greetings.

Fast forward to last week when he texted again to see what was up. He asked me about my work as if nothing went wrong. He asked to catch up. Why did he bother doing this?

    Thanks!

  • Should a professional woman date a blue collar guy?

I'm professional, fancy grad degree, career woman, etc. I met a handsome cook working behind the counter at a restaurant. I asked one of his coworkers about him out of curiosity and they went over to the guy and told him I was interested. I don't usually give my number to strangers.

He has called several times since then. He seems to be into me so here's the question: Do people still think a professional woman dating a cook is dating down?

His coworkers say he's single. I don't get why he wants to take me out on Saturday night (he's off Sunday) but not Friday night (Valentine's day). Is this an example of a 9 to 5er not fitting into a blue collar guy's life?

    Thanks!

  • Is he into me or not?

Asking again because no one answered.

Internet crush over the summer who got divorced last spring and has a kid. He lives hours away and each time he planned to visit me at the last minute it didn't work out. At the end of the summer he said he didn't know what he needed and stopped communicating. I found him on FB and asked him if he was the same person I had been talking to. Three weeks later he texted me saying he didn't see the message, he was so sorry and he was coming to see me during his trip to the area. He asked me to friend him on FB. A couple of days before the trip he texted that he couldn't make it.

Every once in a while he will "like" my status on FB if I say I'm doing something healthy, since he is into working out. My friend says I should just forget this guy and unfriend him. I think he's hot and smart and funny, but I don't want to waste time or emotion unnecessarily. Is he into me or just being friendly? What say you all?

I do know that he's divorced and his ex moved out so hiding a marriage isn't the issue.

  • Disturbing dream with Native American symbols - Help!?

I had a dream that I can't understand. I was in a Native American village from a different time (like pre-colonial) and I was a visitor there. There was a beautiful young Native American woman who was standing to the east. She was staring at me with a smile as though she had a secret. I got the sense that she knew something about me but she wasn't sharing it. The sky was blue and it started talking to me. It had a woman's voice. It kept saying things like, "Slow down," "Be careful," and "Use a soft touch." It was like part of the sky was a woman's face that was talking.

I looked to the west and there were young Native American women who had their backs to me. I would say about two were standing on the right side, four were kneeling and two were standing on the left side. Between the two women who were kneeling there was a man kneeling between them. He had a buffalo head. I couldn't tell whether it was a headdress he was wearing or whether he was actually half man/half buffalo. He was bare chested and wore buckskin pants. All of their backs were to me. In the dream I really wanted to see their faces but they would not turn around. All the while that one woman in the east was staring at me and smiling.

Beyong the people in front of me who were kneeling there was a valley where the people in the village were going about their daily lives. I remember a woman who was sweeping outside of her entryway. And these were rectangle shaped buildings with flaps for the entries, not teepees. I remember seeing cooking fires and groups of men coming back from the woods.

I don't have a Native American background. I haven't really been exposed to the culture with the exception of a few drawings of animals that I own. I was raised Christian. I have never seen a buffalo headdress and I don't know where that image came from. What does this dream mean? No one I asked has any clue, and the things the sky woman said are disturbing me. Thanks!

  • divorced men: how often do you text or call a woman you are interested in?

Let's say you've only been divorced for a few months and the woman in question was someone you met online and long distance whom you have not met in person yet. Would you communicate everyday? Every week? Twice a month? How long would you keep doing that before you lost interest in her when you haven't met her in person yet?

  • How much is this guy into me?

He rarely texts me first, but whenever I text him he texts right back within a few minutes. He's a Cancer if that matters. I know he goes online on a dating site but he's talked about seeing me in a couple of weeks when his schedule is not as busy. So I'm wondering, how much is this guy into me? A little? Moderate interest? A lot but insecure and wants me to chase him?

  • Why do I run so slow?

If it's a sprint, I'm ok. But distance? Forget about it. I run about as fast as a turtle wearing ankle weights in a tar pit. It takes me 16 minutes just to run one mile. Granted I'm pushing 40 years old, I just started running for the first time in years about a month ago and my BMI is about 24.5 but still, that's pretty darn slow. Is this normal? Last week was my first attempt to run a mile in about 20 years and the elevation was a measly 500 feet. Should any of that matter? How fast should I be running a mile?

  • Losing my religion, following the Red Road? Uh oh. I'll never get another date!?

I'm afraid I may be losing my faith and feeling more drawn to Native American spirituality. This has me a bit worried. I'm not a Native and I'm afraid my spiritual ideas might scare guys away. How can I present my new way of thinking in a manner that doesn't put off Christian guys? Should I hide my beliefs? I don't think I can turn back now because I might already know too much, unless I try to forget everything. Help!
