Going to New Orleans for a week during Halloween this year. Can I dress up on days other than Halloween?
We are going to New Orleans for a week in October and will be here over Halloween. This will be our second trip to New Orleans, but the first over Halloween. We want to know if it is appropriate to dress up on more than just Halloween? Several of us are planning multiple costumes including a sugar skull costume for November 1. Can someone help us out with whether any of this is cool or not?
1 AnswerHalloween6 years agoHelp with gas useage?
I am getting ready to take a driving trip from Tulsa, OK to Baltiimore, MD, round trip. I will be bringing a lot of items from my parents' estate back to Tulsa with me.
Here's my question and dilemma ...
I can rent a 5x8 trailer from Uhaul from Tulsa, driving it to Baltimore, loading it up, and driving it back to Tulsa. This would cost me about $250.
I can reant a 5x8 trailer from Uhaul from Balitmore, load it up, and drive it to Tulsa and drop it off in Tulsa. This would cost me about $450.
Problem is, I don't know what would be the most economical. I know it is going to use more gas to tow the trailer, but the trailer would essentially be empty on the trip from Tulsa to Baltimore. Anyone know how to figure out approximately how much extra gas I might use on my trip from Tulsa to Baltimore? I really don't want to haul the trailer from Tulsa to Baltimore at all, but if it is significantly cheaper, then I will ... I just don't want to cut down too much on my drive time getting there.
Thanks for the help. Please include any sites you use to calculate this for me ...
2 AnswersOther - Cars & Transportation1 decade agoHow to determine what type of furniture is in my parent's home ... and how to price/appraise it ...?
My parent's bought beautiful furniture when they moved in to their first (and only) home in the mid 50s. I believe it is mahogany, but unsure how to tell. I have searched and searched and come up with either Chippendale or Queen Anne ...
How do I go about getting someone to come in and appraise the furniture for us to sell it (and not have an appraiser give us an unfair price thinking he/she may buy it). I'm not kidding you ... this furniture is over 60 years old and really looks brand new.
There is a dining room suite with a table with two or three leaves, four side chairs and two arm chairs along with a buffet, server/sideboard, and china cabinet. There is a bedroom suite with a tall boy, long dresser, full bed with headboard and footboard and a night stand.
Where do I go to find out what kind of furniture this might be and how to get a fair price/appraisal?
3 AnswersOther - Arts & Humanities1 decade agoChihuahua pup with "balding" in black areas only?
Hello --
I have a five-month-old female long-hair Chihuahua who is mainly white and black. Before anyone suggests mange or any other parasite, she has already had scrapings done to test for this. So please, if you don't know the possible answer, don't answer at all.
She has some thinning hair on her head, which is apparently commonly in Chihuahuas. However, the black along her back, and now into her butt, has thinned. The vet did the scrapings, which were negative three weeks ago and still negative today. The vet mentioned something about black pattern alopecia (hair loss), but I really can't find any information about it -- how long it might last, what can I do to fix it, etc. I don't plan on showing her, but I do want to know what I need to do for my dog.
Thanks in advance.
3 AnswersDogs1 decade agoHow long does a long-hair Chihuahua's coat take to grow in fully?
I have a four-month-old female Chihuahua. Her father was a pure-bred long hair. Her mother was half long-hair, half standard.
How long will it take for her coat to grow in fully, under normal circumstances? It's not short, like a standard Chi, but it is not as long as her father's coat, either.
Also -- she has some thinning hair on her scalp, which I understand is normal in most Chis. But she also has some thinning hair along her spine on her back. I did take her to the vet and the vet did scrapings two weeks ago that came back negative for parasites (mange) ...
I do plan to have her spayed as she is only about two pounds now and probably won't weigh more than three or four pounds.
Thanks in advance.
5 AnswersDogs1 decade agoPurple stain on linoleum floor - Help!!?
I had a linoleum (rolled sheet, not individual peel and stick) installed in my kitchen and bathroom about three years ago. The previous floor covering was completely removed, but I have no idea what prep was done prior to the installer laying the new floor covering. Several months ago, I noticed a purplish stain near my dishwasher. A few weeks later, I noticed a similar stain behind the toilet in the bathroom (the kitchen wall where the dishwasher is shares a wall with the tub, toilet, and sink in the bathroom). I don't know what the stain is. I have tried scrubbing it with Comet, I have tried hot soapy water. I can't get the stain to remove AND it seems as though it is GROWING which leads me to believe it might be mildew or even mold. The stain looks like spilled grape soda or something on the floor, but, like I said, it has grown (and I have no one living in the house with me so I know nothing has been spillled on it). Realistic suggestions on removing stain PLEASE.
8 AnswersCleaning & Laundry1 decade agoOnline Shopping for QUALITY plants?
Do NOT suggest the following, as I already know about them:
Michigan Bulb
Springhill Nursery
Park Seed
Wayside Gardens
Glasshouse Works
I have bought from Michigan Bulb before, but this year I was not impressed with the length of time it took to get my order (one month). Springhill is expensive. Wayside has some beautiful things, but a little expensive and not many ground covers (which is mainly what I am looking for).
Ten points to the best answer for the best place to buy plants (especially ground covers) ONLINE (gas is too expensive to ride around and find nurseries) and in the US.

Aside from Michigan Bulb and Springhill Nursery ... what are some other reputable places to buy garden plants/bulbs/etc. ONLINE in the US.
4 AnswersGarden & Landscape1 decade agoAnyone know what these transfers/stencils are for your walls?
A person that I work with in my building said he and his wife had gone to some type of home party and they bought these stencils, or transfers, for their walls. He told me about one that you transferred stems of flowers on the wall, then the flowers, and even got one for his new baby with her name that he put on the wall. He couldn't remember much except either they were called Expressions, or the company was Expressions, but I can't find them anywhere. Any ideas?
2 AnswersDecorating & Remodeling1 decade agoI have a small pond, only about 400 gallons, but I need to get a UV clarifier. What is the best to use?
I have a small pond, only about 400 gallons, and I definitely need to get a UV clarifier for it. Question is, which of these two is better?
PetSmart carries the Laguna 1000 with a 8 watt bulb for $199.
Lowe's carries the Garden Treasures with a 9 watt bulb for $69.
No brainer -- cheaper isn't always better.
All I can find out is that the Laguna filter states it is good up to 1,000 gallons and the Garden Treasures states it is good up to 2,000 gallons, but I don't want to waste money on Garden Treasures brand when I can find NO information online.
Anyone have the actual website for Lowe's Garden Treasurers products? (don't reply with lowes.com either).
Any help is appreciated.
