  • What would cause someone to occasionally feel like they briefly need to gasp for air?

I get these episodes every couple of days where I get this sudden feeling like I need to gasp for air, but I don't. The best way to describe it would be the feeling you get when you jump into freezing cold water and feel like you cant quite breathe quick enough, its similar to that but usually only lasts a split second. I had my yearly physical about 6 months ago with an EKG, they said I was borderline sugar, cholesterol, and blood pressure.. not really good but not really bad either, but otherwise I checked out with a clean bill of health. Another thing I thought about was that I usually have about 20-40 ounces of caffeinated diet or regular soda throughout the day but I am 6 foot 1 and about 245lbs so I'm not sure if that would really be the cause. I am tempted to go into the doctor again but I wonder if maybe this could be stress related? Any ideas? Thanks.

  • Anyone know where I can find a push bar for a 2001 Chevy Malibu?

I'm looking for a push bar/guard for a 2001 Chevy Malibu. I wasn't sure if it could accept one from an Impala or not. Also, if I get one custom made, any rough estimates on what that may run?

  • Can an employer require you to come in to work with less than 10 hours off duty?

I was wondering if an employer can spontaneously change your schedule one day which would leave only about 9 hours in between the end of one shift and the start of the next. I recall hearing that it had to be 13 hours or more in between shifts unless the employee volunteers, but I may be wrong. Thank you.

  • How can I stop Yahoo! Answers from repeatedly sending me the same email?

I've gotten over 13 notices saying I had the same answer chosen as the best, I get them every hour and have since midnight. Is there a way I can tell Yahoo to cut it out?

  • What needs to be done to a car for long-term storage?

I may be headed overseas for 1-3 years. I purchased a 2008 Accord EX-V6 earlier last year and love it. I don't want to get rid of it, or take it overseas with me. If I wanted to store the car in a garage, what all needs to be done to it? I imagine that I will remove the battery and drain all of the fluids, is there anything else that I should look into? Thanks.

  • Would a short sale be an option? Can I use the private mortgage insurance?

I have a house in a rural area of Pennsylvania. I work for the Army and will never be returning to the area where the house is located. I have had it on the market for about 9 months and recently got an offer. I owe $52,000 on the house, the offer was for $40,000. I will likely counter offer but it will still leave me a bit short. Best case scenario I am looking at losing about $8,000 with the commission, etc simply to be able to walk away from the table at closing. I am losing money on this house and would like to get rid of it. It was appraised for $57,000 before I purchased it in 2005, so I have been paying PMI on it. I have it financed through my credit union. What would you recommend in my position? Would a short sale even be an option? Would the private mortgage insurance help with a short sale? I know it will impact my credit but I would save about $800 a month with mortgage payment and paying for utilities by getting rid of it. Thank you.

  • Is there any easy way to get more ground clearance on a 2004 GMC Envoy XL?

Because of my job I find myself driving on un-improved roads alot. Not really off-roading so much, just the occasional rough dirt road, broken concrete, etc. I have a 2004 GMC Envoy XL 4x4 with the 4.2L I6. Because its an XL and has the extended wheel base I ocassianally rub a side-step or scrape bottom as I creep along rough road. I dont really want to put too much money into fixing the problem but was curious as to what my options are. All I can think of would be getting it lifted but I have no idea what that would cost and I since I do most of my driving on highways, that may make it unbearable. What would you do in my case(other than get another vehicle)? Thanks.

  • Can an employer tell you not to come to work?

Someone I know recently went part time working at a day care. On at least 4 occasions in the last 2 weeks she has been told at the last minute by her boss not to come into work due to a shortage of work. She is not paid for these absenses. Is this legal? I get the impression they are trying to provoke her into quitting.

    Thank you.

  • Is there an inexpensive and simple dash camera kit for a civilian vehicle available?

I live in an area with a lot of terrible drivers. I have close calls almost daily. In the last 3 years I have been hit twice by drivers and since witnesses never stop it was my word against theres. Each was listed as a no fault and never investigated by either the police or my insurance company.

As a solution I figured I would get a camera mounted in my vehicle and just record whenever I am driving around. I am not looking for anything special, even something that records just a few frames a second and in black and white is fine. Does anyone know where or even if I can find something like this that records to a flash drive or hard drive and can be mounted in my vehicle? Thanks a lot.

  • What is the name of this tactic?

In the military, when one of us would screw up, they would punish all of us in order to get us to self police. What is this tactic called?

  • Is it recommended to get a ballistic vest for an internship with a police department.?

I will be doing an internship with a local police department this summer. I have had to sign about 5 waivers now and I am starting to get concerned. I will be working in their office but I will also be doing a substantial amount of ride alongs with officers. Due to the potential hazards of doing a ride along, should I get a ballistic vest? I am asking here instead of at the internship site as I do not want them thinking I am a gung-ho out of control type or super paranoid, I am sort of both but I do not want them to know just yet. Thanks.

  • Anyone know where to find replacement parts for discontinued Oakley sunglasses?

My friend bought a pair of Jet black Oakley Straight Jackets and took them to the middle east with him, he was in a wreck after a month or so and broke the right arm on it right in the middle. He didnt get back until recently and the glasses had been discontinued for over a year. Anyone know where to get a replacement arm for it? Besides Ebay, they only sell the entire sunglasses and they are $80+, and never the right color. Thanks.

  • What is the purpose of the scarf put around someones neck before they are hanged?

When they hanged Saddam they put a black scarf around his neck before they put the noose on. What was this for? I thought maybe to keep from decapitating him but the weight of his body would do that, not the rope friction right? Also I have seen hangings before and have never seen this. Thanks.

  • What is better: Digital projector or rear-projection TV?

I want to build a home theater in my basement, the room will have no windows and be completely dark. For around $3000 what would be better a rear-projection television or a digital projector? And are the ones that I find at that price on Newegg.com and stuff any good? What kind of characteristics should I look for on a home theater projector? i.e. resolution, brightness, etc. I would like it to display at approximately 60-70 inches. Thanks

  • What are the 3 items located within the trunk (the gold globe) at the top of the flag pole at Military bases?

Not sure if they still do this but I learned this in Infantry school back in 2000. The first person to answer correctly gets best answer.

  • Have you ever had a "moment of clarity?"?

Or a moment when you suddenly realize something that leaves you speachless, staring blankly off into space. Some examples would be turning 30, seeing yourself on a home movie and realizing you've gained weight, reaching your last semester of highschool and realizing you have to grow up, etc. If so, what was your situation?

  • Does anyone else think people hate President Bush only to fit in?

I hear a lot of people bad mouthing President Bush, which is fine, but most I come across are unable to carry on a debate. For instance when gas prices went up, about 2 out of 3 people I talked to said it was Bush's fault... I asked them if they thought it had something to do with OPEC, almost none of them knew what OPEC was. Also we have soldiers fighting on two fronts, if you were to show people a blank world map roughly half of them would be nowhere near where these countries really are, they point to Austrailia and think its Iraq. Or if someone claims that they were lied to about WMD's as the basis for the war, when asked if maybe the basis for the war was due to Iraq's constant disregard for the UN sanctions, weapons inspectors or the no-fly zone put in place as consequence for the first gulf war, many have no idea what I am talking about, or even know what happened in 1990-91. Does anyone else get the impression that people are bad mouthing our leadership simply to fit in?

  • What is the benefit of dual video cards? Can it be done to a Dell Dimension 8400?

I have found ATI Radeon x1600's for less than half of their retail price on ebay, I have seen that high-end rigs use dual video cards. Would this be beneficial in my case with these cards and would it be fairly easy to modify my Dell Dimension 8400 to work off of both of them? Thanks.
