Of course I'm out of my mind! It's dark and scary in there!

  • Meaning behind Jem's "24" lyrics?

First of all, I must say it's, imho, one of the best songs ever. Been wondering what the meaning behind the lyrics of this song is. Alright, she has got 24 hours left to live, so the main motive is death. But what kind of death? Could it be suicide, will she be killed, terminal disease? What do you think? Any other thoughts about the meaning?

Here's the song, with lyrics: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FKgxkxbxI7Q

  • What breed do you think my dog is?

I was told by the person who sold him to me that he is 3/4 english bulldog and 1/4 american bulldog. Could he fit in as an Olde English Bulldogge?

Here are some pictures of Sole (now 10 months old and weighing a bit over 30kgs): http://www.flickr.com/photos/8598171@N07/361761817...

  • How old does a passiflora have to be before it starts blooming?

... or does it depend on the species? I'm thinking of ordering some lovely passiflorae, and the supplier said they'd be +/- 1 year old. Just wondering how long it will take for them to bloom.

  • Training an english bulldog puppy...?

I have a 2 and a half months old male english bulldog puppy, and trying to do my best in training him. He was very fast to learn that potty is outside, took him only about a day to learn to use a doggy door, but i can see a lot of dominant features in his behavior. He tries to dominate my parents dogs ( 7 adult dogs ), he's very demanding, barks at me when he wants to be picked up, allowed in the bedroom or other things. Of course, i don't let him have his way, i pick him up, play or let him in the bedroom when i choose, and after he's calmed down. Nevertheless, he seems not to want to give up the habit of biting (and he does bite pretty hard), and sometimes even starts growling at me when i give him time out (on his back or side, me holding him down to show dominance) and becomes even angrier. He also seems to mark his territory around my parents yard, peeing in the spots where the other male dogs have peed, even though he doesn't even lift his leg yet.

All in all, i would appreciate your advice on training him to be less dominant, keeping in mind that he's a very intelligent dog. Thank you!

  • Book recommendations?

I'm interested in books in the travel/ culture/ autobiography area, focusing on cultural differences and living in certain cultures, especially oriental or african ones.

I've read "Memoirs of a Geisha", "Not without my Daughter" by Betty Mahmoody, "Burned Alive" by Suad and "The White Masai" by Corinne Hofmann and I'm currently looking for similar books.

    Any ideas?

  • Pups won't leave their dad alone?

My two pug mix puppies (6 months old) won't leave Gucci the pug, their dad, alone. They keep licking his face - they do that virtually all the time. What could this mean? They also sometimes bite him or jump on him, or steal his food. He's a dominant dog and even though he can't get a minute's rest, he does nothing about it - he just gets up and goes somewhere else to sleep. They follow him around everywhere and he's always struggling to get rid of them, but never "threatens" them or gets angry.

Why is it that they do this and how do i stop them, without emotionally harming them?

  • How can some people be so heartless as to abandon the pets they've had for years/dump them in animal shelters

I just can't bring myself to understand how some people can be so cruel...And what could be going on in that poor animal's heart...

And this becomes even more sad when the abandoned pet is elderly or has special needs...

How can someone just dump the friend and companion they've had for years?
