I need solutions for reducing excessive mewing from my cat.?
I have an 11-year-old male domestic short-hair cat named Maxi. We recently (about 4 weeks ago) lost his best friend, Mori, who died suddenly of a heart attack. Ever since then Maxi has been inconsolable, wandering around crying in a most mournful tone. So far I've tried a variety of over-the-counter calming methods including pheromones (I've tried the collar, spray and diffuser, all to no effect). I've tried calming solutions that are added to food with tryptophan and chamomile in them. I've tried just petting and cuddling with him, which helps in the moment - but I can't just pet and cuddle him all day long.
I've talked to his vet and asked about any other types of solutions, including feline anti-depressants, but she seems to believe that cuddle therapy is all he needs. I'm at my wits end and not sure what else to do. Has anyone had a similar issue? Were you able to resolve it?
4 AnswersCats8 years agoHow do you disable Stealth Mode on the Alienware M17x?
Is there somewhere in the BIOS where I can permanently disable "Stealth Mode". I have no intention of running the laptop on purely battery power (laptop is far too large and heavy to lug around to coffee shops - that's what I have a netbook for). However I've accidentally enabled the mode a few times how by inadvertently touching the "button" for it - which of course causes my performance of my games to plummet dramatically. I'd like to just disable this entirely - is it possible?
Laptops & Notebooks1 decade agoAlternatives for Yahoo! Messenger for Blackberry (AT&T provider)?
I installed Yahoo! Messneger for Blackberry but I found out that my provider (AT&T) blocks Yahoo Messenger from connecting. I can log into Yahoo with other software on my PC. Are there alternatives that can circumvent the block AT&T has?
I specifically got a blackberry because I wanted an easier way to stay in touch with colleagues when I'm away from my computer and we primarily use Yahoo.
I did try "m.yahoo.com/messenger" as well but that really sucks (you have to refresh constantly to see if you have a message? how quaint).
2 AnswersPDAs & Handhelds1 decade agoSurgery or not?
I had my right ovary removed 8 years ago because of a dermoid cyst (11x6cm). 2 years ago they found another, smaller one in my left ovary. Have been keeping an eye on it with regular ultrasounds but my doctor is reluctant to remove it as she will have to take the ovary with it - putting me into early menopause (I'm 36).
I am aware of the risks (increased chance of osteoperosis, heart disease, breast cancer), but I am now suffering increasing pelvic pain, which is causing lower back pain and other issues.
If this was happening to you, what would you do? Have the surgery and deal wirh the risks? Or try and cope with the pain?
2 AnswersWomen's Health1 decade agoConstant cramping (Women Only Please!)?
I do have a doctor's appointment next week but this is going to drive me nuts until then. Anyone ever have constant cramping (feels like menstrual cramps)? I've had them for over 2 weeks now but I'm not on my cycle.
I do suffer from PCOS and have a dermoid cyst in my left ovary that just started getting a little larger. Not sure if that would have anything to do with the cramping or not.
Anyone else experience this? If so, what did your doctor tell you about it? I'm not finding much info about this online ...

I have my Yahoo 360 settings selected to link my Yahoo profile (http://profiles.yahoo.com/gke71) to my Yahoo 360 (http://360.yahoo.com/gke71). It used to work but now when you go to the profile page, it doesn't redirect to the 360 anymore. Anyone know how to fix this?

1 AnswerUser Profiles1 decade agoA question for Christians ... Who created God?
I am an atheist and whenever I debate Christians they always come up with the argument that everything in the universe must be created by "God" .. just like looking at a watch you know it was created, so too is everything in existance.
So I always ask them - "who created God?". I have yet to get a straight answer on that question. If *everything* must have a creator ... then so too must "God".

Do they make USB adapters for memory stick pro? I'vee been searching on Yahoo and Google but haven't really found any.
1 AnswerAdd-ons1 decade agoCan a Memory Stick Pro Duo fit into the slot for a Memory Stick Duo?
My cell phone/camera came with a 128MB Sony Memory Stick Duo and slot for a Memory Stick Duo. When searching on the web, all I find are Memory Stick *Pro* Duo sticks. Will the Pro Duo work in my Duo slot? Or am I doomed to be stuck with only 128MB of additional memory?
3 AnswersAdd-ons1 decade agoThe pores in my "T-Zone" are larger than other pores on my face, how can I fix that?
The T-Zone on my face looks reddish because the pores there are quite large. I currently wash with Aveeno Clear Complexion pads every morning and the Aveeno Clear Complexion foaming cleanser every evening. I also use Oil of Olay Regenerist Serum and Oil of Olay Complete Daily Moisture Lotion (with SPF15). What else can I use (or substitute) to help minimize the size of my pores?
9 AnswersOther - Skin & Body1 decade agoCare for an African Dwarf Frog?
Hi -
I added an African Dwarf frog to my 29 gallon tropical aquarium about 3-4 weeks ago. He was an active little frog and appeared to be getting bigger when all of a sudden he died.
I was feeding him according to the instructions from the fish store (1/2 piece of tubeworm cubes every other day and a pinch of bloodworms about 2-3 times per week). It's a fresh water, tropical tank. I keep it at about 74-76F. It has live plants, a filter, lots of gravel and natural rocks.
The other fish in the tank are neon tetras, velvet swords and 2 plecostamus (sp?). He didn't look like he'd been attacked or nibbled on.
Any idea what I might have done wrong? Did I not feed enough? Too much? Wrong water temp?
I'd like to know before I get another one.
Thanks!

I've looked for how to report an error on Yahoo (in this case the Comics section) but I can't find anyway to report an error in that section (or in any section for that matter). Anyone know how?

Is there anywhere online that I can find GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) practice exams? Ones that will give you a score or help you score it yourself.
In order to be eligible for merit scholarships for the MBA program I am planning to apply for I need to get a very high GMAT score and so I want to take several practice exams and find out the areas I need to focus on improving.
1 AnswerHigher Education (University +)1 decade agoWhy can't people use proper english anymore?
The more I read in Yahoo Answers, the more I'm convinced that the majority of Americans are functionally illiterate. There are more spelling, grammar and punctionation errors on one page than I've ever made my entire life.
Do they not teach spelling and grammar in school anymore? And if it's related to the "chat speak" phenomenon, do people really not care that they look like uneducated fools when they write that way?
Sorry this is a huge pet peeve of mine ...
16 AnswersOther - Education1 decade agoShould I send a gift?
I was invited to my half-sister's wedding next week. I am unable to attend due to medical issues. I am not very close to my half-sisters (I only found out I even had half-sisters a few years ago). Should I still send a gift or card anyway?
8 AnswersFamily1 decade agoHow did you get out of a diet/exercise rut?
I had this goal back in January to get down to 120lbs by September (at the time I was at 153lbs). I started out great - exercised 5-6 days per week (mostly cardio, some strength training), I kept my caloric intake to around 1400 - 1600 calories per day while still enjoying my food (I kept it well balanced, plenty of protein and fresh veggies, and tried to eat 5-6 small meals per day). I kept it up until about mid-May when I fell off the wagon and have struggled to get back on it again. I got down to 137lbs at my fittest but I'm back up to about 141lbs.
How do I get out of this rut and back to my exercise and diet plan again? I don't really know why I stopped or why I'm so reluctant to get back into it ... has this happened to anyone else?
6 AnswersDiet & Fitness1 decade agoWhat ethnic background could the family name "Gogol" be from?
I have done extensive research online about this but have only a vauge idea. My father's family name was Gogol but I do not know where his father originally came from - we know it was somewhere in the USSR, which now could be any number of different countries.
The only famous Gogol was Nikolai Gogol, but he never had children so I can't be directly related to him. Nikolai Gogol was born in what is now the Ukraine. So maybe it's Ukrainian?
I've also seen evidence it might be related to the Kossack tribes (who settled across Russia, the Ukraine and other soviet countries). So maybe it's Kossack?
Other sources lead me to the possibility of Russia as well.
However I have not yet found anything definite to say "Gogol originated here". So there's 25% of my ethnic background that is a vauge mystery to me.
(FYI I'm also 50% Polish and 25% German).
