True Friends. A long time ago in China there were two friends, one who played on the harp skillfully and one who listened skillfully. When the one played or sang about a mountain, the other would say: 'I can see the mountain before us!' When the one played about water, the listener would exclaim, 'Here is the running stream!' But the listener fell sick and died. The first friend cut the strings of the harp and never played again. Since that time the cutting of harp strings has always been a sign of intimate friendship. Flagulation of the mind?
In a system where by the majority of one's time is dominated by doing something one doesn't desire to do. Eg: working for a living, going to a church one has lost faith in, or just the mudane work created by having a life.
Do any agree with me in seeing this as a form of self flagulation. A beating of the mind, the consciousness that is YOU or I. Where will all this beating take us in the future?
9 AnswersPhilosophy1 decade agoWhich do you choose? Re-birth or resurrection?
Everyday we have choice's to make. Life is one BIG CHOICE! Where death is concerned it seems we have a choice also. Why else is the teaching and so many scriptures. Jesus Christ is the only one who is refferenced with regard to gaining the right to resurrection. His life was a role model for us all to follow. Not simply to keep us in our place, but so we too could gain the same abilities as he!
So which do you choose? And why?
11 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoLet's give God a chance to speak through us all. Please stand forward and speak for God today, lets here it?
As the teaching seems to be convincing many these days that 'We ourselves are God!" I invite all to jump up onto the podium and give us your opinion of us all and our attempts to save this planet and His physical matter existence. First God step forward please.................
17 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoDo you see dreams as a significant process taking place within consciousness for teaching us anything.?
Does anyone see the process of dreaming, something that we all spend a lot of our life time doing, as an arena for coming to a greater understanding of what consciousness is about. Or simply the ramblings of an un-ristricted, un-conditioned mind at rest.
7 AnswersPhilosophy1 decade agoCan anyone tell me why it is that's Cats do not know that they are in subjection to US?
Just went into the kitchen to see next doors cat on my avairy roof frightening the birds. After asking it politely to remove itself it stared piecingly into my eye's with no thought of doing what I asked. In fact challenging my autority! Only by staring back even harder and putting my hands on my hips did it leave. LOL.
Any more stories like this out there.
7 AnswersCats1 decade agoThe self declared enlightened one is seen to be not enlightened?
Within spiritual circles it is frowned down on and taken extemely seriously as not to declare oneself as being enlightened. It is said, 'That to declare oneself enlightened, proves one is already not', as the statement is said indeed by the Ego. To have ego is to not be enlightened. The self declared prophet is not listened to or taken seriously and would never be accepted within religious circles. And yet today we are reaching a point in time where many are becoming illumined, but non prepared to declare themselves as such. Many words spoken prove there is much wisdom out there. If only all could be gathered together to share and use the accumulated wisdom for the good of all! Are there any here who know themselves to be awakened or dare I say enlightenened?
7 AnswersPhilosophy1 decade agoWhat did the first humans experience, was it pain first or pleasure?
If man hadn't experienced pain would pleasure not have come about. If pleasure came about first, why then pain?
(I'm talking physical sensations here not mental thoughts considered as the same type of pain and suffering.) OK
13 AnswersPhilosophy1 decade agoIf to be free from all pain we had to give up pleasure how many would settle for that life?
Just a good hyperthetcal question to ask oneself i think.
When measuring out exactly how much one's life time is spent actually feeling the pleasure sensations within the body compared with how much time we spend feeling the pain body. If female the pain certainly out weighs the pleasure. (This is not talking about the pain and suffering mind, the physical sensation body only!)
