Should ignorant voters be discounted?
Today an inexperienced, pseudo socialist, junior senator was sworn into office as president of the USA. I'm convinced this is the result of too many ignorant people casting votes. So, my question is should we push for a national voting ballot change that would require the individual to answer 2-3 basic questions about the person for whom they voted? It would apply only to president, senators and congressman. Their vote would be discounted by the number of questions they answer incorrectly. So if they answer only 1 of 2 questions right their vote is worth 0.5 points.
To make it fair for all candidates the questions would be the same for everyone on the ticket. The questions would be generic multiple choice. For example,
This candidate is pro-choice: a) true b) false.
This candidate supports welfare reform: a) true b) false
This candidate was a US Senator: a) true b) false
11 AnswersElections1 decade agoDoes Obama sound like Jimmy Carter when he says we must give up SUV's, eat less, use less A/C?
Jimmy Carter gave a speech in the 1970's saying we must all drive less and to use less energy. Subsequently he imposed gas rationing. The lines at gas stations across the country were a disaster.
Obama sounds like Jimmy Carter, the worst president in American history, without the southern accent.

Driving past our local black neighborhood I couldn't help but notice many houses were a bright neon shade of purple, yellow, green.

26 AnswersElections1 decade agoHow much will Obama raise your taxes, if elected?
Letting the Bush tax cuts phase out will raise taxes on everyone making $30K+/ year. Plus Obama plans to increase the top tax bracket from 39% to $52.5%, double capital gains taxes, and increase corporate taxes by 15%.
Our economy will implode if this clown is elected.
13 AnswersElections1 decade agoIf elected, how devastating will Obama's tax increases be for the economy?
Obama plans to raise the top tax bracket to 52.5%, double capital gains taxes to 30%, increase corporate tax rates by 10-15%, and remove the FICA taxable income limit.
The capital gains and corporate tax increase alone will devastate the stock market, but how devastating will the other HUGE tax increase be to your business or personal finances?
Given the weakened state of the economy will these tax increases have the effect that Carter's tax increases had back in the 70's? 10% unemployment and a 17% inflation rate?
15 AnswersElections1 decade agoIf elected president, would Obama give Sharpton, J. Wright or J. Jackson cabinet positions?
Certainly he'll appoint many African American's to positions in his administration, but will he put these types of polarizing characters in it?
20 AnswersElections1 decade agoShould ballots be changed to eliminate ignorant votes?
Should ballots include 3-4 questions on each candidate regarding where they stand on issues as a means to validate a persons vote? For example, if a person selects candidate X, but miss more than one (for example) of the questions regarding that candidates position on issues, their vote is not counted.
19 AnswersElections1 decade agoWhat is wrong with believing in God, but not believe in a religion?
I believe there is a God, however I find it difficult to believe in the writings of mankind (Koran, Bible, etc.) I believe many things that were written hundreds of years ago were written due to mans ignorance of physical sciences. Also, I think many teaching were created by leaders to control the behavior of their people.
