Where to stay for the soccer 7/5 in Vancover?
Going for the Women's world cup in Vancover 7/5/2015 at the stadium. I have no idea what part of town to stay in for safety and for convenience. Do I need to rent a car? Any info appreciated as I have never been to Vancover.
1 AnswerPacking & Preparation6 years agoDoes the speed of a router matter if you have cable coming in or is it all controlled by the cable company?
We have several laptops, notebooks, iPhones. My husband bought a more expensive, ie; faster router because the game he was playing kept losing connection. Does the router matter or is it all determined by what is coming in through the cable from the company?
2 AnswersComputer Networking8 years agoHow do I choose a police scanner?
I live in So. CA and want to buy one for the house. Don't need a $1000 one, just one so I can listen in on the police/fire calls. Handheld or table model? Any advice on options to look for? I know it has to be digital but that's about all I know.

2 AnswersDo It Yourself (DIY)10 years agoHow do I adjust my garage door opener?
Whenever it gets damp or chilly in the mornings, the garage door won't open more than a couple of inches. I have to have someone on the outside of the door put a bit of pressure on the door and "help" it rise a couple of inches and then it is ok. It is a light weight metal door. Actually the opener did the same when it was the wooden door. Works fine when the sun warms it up. Never happens in the warm.
2 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs10 years agoNew kitten, male or female?
We have a 10yr old neutered male, Tabby. He's gentle, an indoor cat. We are hoping to get a new kitten but wondered if it would be better to get a male or female since we have a male. Any thoughts on this?
5 AnswersCats10 years agoReplace or paint metal security door?
The door is structually fine. It has some rust and I would like to change the color. A new door will cost $200+ for same quality. Is it going to be better/cheaper to replace the door or have a painter repaint it? I assume a professional will prime, etc.. Can they actually be repainted to look good?

2 AnswersSan Diego1 decade agoHow do I clean/adjust the gas ignitor in a wood burning fireplace?
Fireplace is clean and in good working order - but the ignitor is flaring up too high. The gas pipe that is controlled by a key and runs across the bottom of the fireplace to ignite the wood has a valve type opening that is flaring up about 18" when the gas is on. It has about 6 holes that flame comes through for igniting purposes and I think the valve is to mix air with the gas - but I don't know why it is flaring up like it is. Is the valve open too much, is there ash in the pipe causing this, or what? I've never had this problem before with the fireplace. It doesn't seem safe. The flareup is close to the beginning of the pipe/wall so it doesn't even touch the wood, just flares up about 12-18". How or who do I call to fix this? Anyone have knowledge about this?

2 AnswersEthnic Cuisine1 decade agoCan laminate/pressboard bathroom vanity be repainted?
There is some real work in the vanity but the majority of what you see is the 80's track home laminate composite. I don't really feel like replacing that whole vanity right now as it is an odd size so the floor would have to be redone, etc. Can it be primed and painted or anything of the sort?
2 AnswersDecorating & Remodeling1 decade agoHow long are seasonings (dried) good on the shelf?
Most don't have an expiration date. Things like Cream of Tartar, basil, dried thyme, etc.
Do they lose their flavorings after a while?

4 AnswersDo It Yourself (DIY)1 decade agoHow can I cut laminate flooring?
I need to cut 2 inches off wood laminate flooring that extends into a doorway too far. In order to remove the plank, I would have to remove the molding which I'd like to avoid. A circular saw is too big to get in there - I'm thinking there should be something like what the doctors use to cut through a cast. Hand held small circular tool that I can rent maybe? Cut would be about 30" long, only 2" wide and doesn't extend under baseboards at the sides. I made a little progress with a hacksaw, but not much. The edge would meet with flooring and be covered by a transitional strip so it doesn't have to be perfect. Any suggestions? (besides the obvious of removing the plank?)
5 AnswersDecorating & Remodeling1 decade agoIs there a time issue when removing a toilet and putting a new one in?
I know to stuff rags in the opening to avoid sewer gas from escaping, but is having like that for 1 or 2 days bad? (have another bathroom, lol) I am replacing the floor and I don't want to rush too much.
4 AnswersDo It Yourself (DIY)1 decade agoShould linoeum flooring go under the bath vanity?
I'm replacing the bathroom vanity and flooring. I'm using 12x12 linoeum that resembles ceramic tile. Should I put it on the floor where the vanity will go or put the vanity on the concret floor? Or just put it a bit into the vanity area so I don't have use molding on the base of the vanity?
