I'm over half a century old. For those of you in the video game generation that's fifty plus Earth years. I despise the uneducated. No excuse to be stupid. No excuse to be ignorant either. Frankly if I were lucky enough to be a dictator...you'd be the first to be either sent to the state run farms and factories or taken for a ride in a truck with the rest of 'em like you....forever.
X-Box issue and a painless ($$) solution.?
Out of the blue...some freezing up mid game. Then one day on goes the X-Box, three flashing red lights and that ended that.
So I know the "Red Circle of Death" is not good at all. Anyone ever take one of these things in and had it repaired?
In other words is this a cost effective solution or should I just stop being cheap and shell out *choke* the cost of a new one?
1 AnswerVideo & Online Games9 years agoI'm not clear on submarine stealth (N.Korean/S. Korean incident)?
A comment from an expert as to how the North Korean mini-sub can slip in undetected in shallow waters;
"The North Korean version of stealth is old-school diesel-battery operated subs that evade modern detection methods."
Now how can this be so? During WWII and later hadn't ASDIC advanced to a point that stealth (especially diesel boats) became difficult unless below the thermal layer? I was under the impression anti-sub detection of today would have no difficulty in locating and tracking a sub....especially a diesel boat to boot.
Any Navy/former Navy sonar people care to put this in layman's terms?
7 AnswersMilitary1 decade agoQuestion about Living estate and taxes?
Scenario:
The property of a father is signed over to his daughter who is now the owner but gives the father living estate rights.
The father now resides in another state with another family member who is his son. He is on Medicare and Title 19. In other words his social security allotment goes toward basic needs and such and he has very little money in the bank. He does not own the property, which is in poor condition and uninhabitable. Even if it were in livable condition he cannot reside alone due to age and infirmities.
In the meantime the daughter, who has been paying property taxes on the home for 6+ years and has placed the property on the real estate market, suddenly sends her father a property tax bill for this year.
Is the father, who has living estate rights (but hasn't resided there in 6+ years) obligated to now pay the taxes or is this the responsibility of his daughter who is actually the property owner and has been paying taxes on the property?
Thanks for your answers in advance
2 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade agoHebrew Cemeteries and burial question?
I've always noticed that in many Hebrew (or is it improper to say Jewish)? cemeteries, the placement of the headstones are terrifically close together.
Is there a reason for this? I've been told when i was a kid that the burial takes place with the deceased being placed in an upright position. Of course this would make sense regarding spacing but is this true and if so why not laying down flat as with cemeteries of other faiths?
Also, I might not have had the opportunity to observe and in my area but I don't see mausoleums either. Are they just lacking in my area of is this also a method not used by that faith.
I thank you for you answers in advance.
2 AnswersOther - Society & Culture1 decade agoEcclente Marzimino! So says Don Giovanni.?
"Excellent Marizimo!" pronounces Mozart's Don Giovanni.
But besides it being a wine, what more can you tell me? Is it dry? Is it sweet? What type of grapes and where is it made?
I haven't been too successful in finding it in a package store and believe me I've been to some that have a selection of wines to impress even the snobbiest of wine connoisseurs.
Its just doesn't appear to be something that's very popular.
The internet hasn't been altogether that much help either if you can believe that. So your opinions please. And if you've tasted it what was your opinion of it?
I thank you all in advance.
2 AnswersBeer, Wine & Spirits1 decade agoHow do musicians follow the movements of a conductor?
I have been attending operas and classical music concerts for some time now. But still as I watch the conductor of the orchestra, I can't see how his or her movements and signals jibe with what the orchestra is doing or is going to do. Is there a method to this? I'm sure very conductor has a different style but what signals are sent to have the wind section come up or the string section come in softly and raise to a crescendo? I know its so much more than waving a baton around in the air. But what are the musicians looking for to cue in?
I happen to be a terrific Mozart lover...so as an example I've included a sample of The Magic Flute.
7 AnswersPerforming Arts1 decade agoDon Giovanni (the opera)?
I suspect getting an answer for this will be almost impossible. However I've seen several versions of Don Giovanni. Although I'm aware there was a Prague version and a Viennese version I've noticed something.
In some versions Leperello is spared in the Commendatore scene while Don Giovanni is dragged into Hell whereas another version shows Leperallo being taken to Hell along with his Master.
Is this just artistic license or one of the two versions? The version I saw on stage had Leperello being spared.
Does anyone have an answer for this?
1 AnswerPerforming Arts1 decade agoVitamin B12?
So here's the question:
I'm told that B-12 is only effective when intoduced by syringe intramuscular. Such as if you have Pernicious Anemia. I'm also told that taking B-12 orally in pill/capsule form is no good because (like insulin) should you ingest it the acid in the stomach destroys the components and it becomes useless. may as well swallow a pebble.
So....why is B-12 sold in the stores in the vitaman section if swallowing it serves no purpose?
6 AnswersOther - Diseases1 decade agoWorld War II Infantry Division?
I've been doing some research into a relative's tour of duty with the 99th Infantry Divsion (also known as the "Checkerboard" or "Battle Babies" Division. This division saw action in the Ardennes at the Battle of the Bulge and was made up of replacements and green troops.
The question is that on most military memoribila sites that have division patches displayed the sequence runs to the 98th Division and jumps to the 100th. Although you can get pins and patches is there a specific reason why the 99th isn't included with all the other divisions?
3 AnswersMilitary1 decade agoAircraft light configurations?
Aircraft flying at night all have flashing strobes and red/green lights. I know that boats and ships have the same lights used also at night to denote not only passage but it identifies the type of ship you're encountering.
Assuming this is the same with planes where might I find the light configurations for the identification of aircraft?
9 AnswersAircraft1 decade agoGame cheats?
Here we go. Always been wanting to ask. Games for PC's run about fifty dollars new. I don't do console but I know they're not cheap either.
So...why in Christ's name would you spend that kind of money on a game and then get codes to cheat? Defeats the purpose and offers no challenge. Also...I think it says volumes about one's character as well.
