  • Who are your starting Nl and AL all-star teams - on this year's merit?

You may add a "dh" to both lineups. On a side note: while I don't like the "dh", I think that it's absolutely ridiculous to not allow one in an all-star game, regardless of which league's park it's being played in.

  • Is Federer-Nadal the best one-on-one rivalry in sports now?

If not, which rivalries do you prefer?

Woods - Mickelson? But the majors never seem to come down to them in the final pairing.

    Sorenstam - Ochoa? zzzzzzzzzzzzzz

I'm not a big racing fan, and barely even follow boxing -- anything good out there?

    What else is there?

Maybe Lebron and D Wade will become one.

    Any other suggestions?

  • In your opinion, which will happen first --Federer takes the French or Nadal wins Wimbledon?

Part B - if you will: do you see both of these things happening, one or the other (which one?) or neither?

  • My wife and I are traveling to Hawaii this May and need advice...?

We have a time share so our lodging will be paid for. Where (which island) in Hawaii should we look to stay, and/or avoid? We're not huge into water sports, but just need a week to "chill" together from around May 11th or so. Thank you in advance (neither of us have been to Hawaii yet). Any good advice is appreciated!

  • If you've seen Borat (I just did)...?

..Tell me what you thought about it:

To you, was it funny, offensive, illuminating, etc., all or none of the above?

(My own opinion is that some of the humor worked, and that SB Cohen is very talented, but I don't believe that this movie was a good satire, or that it discovered anything of real value - as so many people and reviewers claim it does)

I can write much more about this, but it's your turn ...

  • Marvin Harrison...?

    1) How great was his twisting td catch last night?

    2) Where would you rank him among active wideouts (present value)?

    3) How would you rank him among all-time wide receivers?

(It's nice to throw some applause his way, when he is both overshadowed by his own qb, as well as by flashier, more obnoxious, egomaniac receivers in today's game who have not the talent, production or class of Marvin.)

  • Give me your top 3 NFL QB's, RB's, WR's ...?

...Please think of this not so much as a fantasy league (pure stats), but if you were starting an "actual" team for one full year, who would your picks be? (3 for each)

  • Have you seen "The Departed"?

I just saw it this weekend, and will withhold my opinion for now. But, please rate it from 1-10, and briefly tell me why you either loved it, liked it, tolerated it, disliked it or loathed it. Feel free to supply your own verbs, opinions and wit --thanks!

  • Which Ivy League school has the most ...?

    A) Ivy (you know, the climbing vines)

    B) Poison Ivy (as in the itchy, trifoliate plants)

    and C) girls/women named Ivy

Feel free to use your expertise, resourcefulness, logic and/or humor to solve!

  • If you were starting a team for the next 5 years...?

...and could pick any 25 current MLB players from both leagues, what would your team look like? Don't think of it just as a fantasy league.

What's your starting lineup, and batting order (NL rules)?

    5-man pitching rotation

    Closer

Pick 11 more players to complete your roster. They could be any combination of pitchers, utility guysand/or star players who didn't crack your starting lineup.

    Thanks...have fun!

  • True Baseball fans: Is anyone having a worse offensive season than...?

    Abraham Nunez of the Phils?

In 256 ABs, he is hitting .191 with 2 hrs, 21 rbi(s) and 31 runs scored. He's drawn 25 walks, struck out 49 times and stolen one base. You combine his on-base percentage (.265) with his slugging average (.246) and his OPS is a "lusty" .511.

As a Phils' fan, I'm not bemoaning the loss of David Bell, but Nunez (who filled in well for Rolen in St. Louis last year) has become a fixture int he lineup. And, while his "d" is pretty good, he's not exactly Brooks Robinson, Mike Schmidt, Scott Rolen, etc...

So, here's your challenge: Find me another player in MLB with at least 250 abs who has been so useless offensively!

  • Who else has had it with the *** shrieking/grunting on court?

I know that it's not just Sharapova, but she is the worst offender right now. The noise level detracts from the enjoyment as spectators (I don't find it a turn-on in this setting, by the way) and it must be distracting for her opponents. Back in the day, I found it hard to root for Seles, and even Serena over the years.

So, is it gamesmanship that they are taught? Is it involuntary? Can it somehow be penalized?

Was Golovin just exhibiting sour grapes when she said after losing to Sharapova:

"It is kind of distracting. You don't need to be screaming that loud," Golovin said. "I don't think the ball actually goes faster if she's grunting."

    Your thoughts, please!

  • Regarding a new "tradition" at the US Open ...?

After the match, the winning player is given 3 balls to autograph and then hit into the crowd.

    A) Why are they given only 3 balls? There are 4 sides to the court. I know that tennis ball cans usually hold 3 balls, but still it doesn't make sense to not be given 4.

    B) Did this tradition start this year, and at the US Open?

    Thanks, in advance.

  • For classic movie fans: .Identify this line....?

    ...of dialogue:

"Jean Louise. Jean Louise, stand up. Your father's passing."

Name the movie, and who said it to whom?

(Taken from one of the greatest movies ever made, in my opinion.)

  • I need enlightening and/or entertaining answers, please:,?

What do people from Denmark call "a light sweet yeast-raised roll usually filled with fruits or cheese"....

Do other Scandinavians refer to it as a "danish" (or "Danish") as well, or do they harbor any jealousy? Are there any nationalistic restrictions on this phrase, by law or by common practice?

    And, then there's "Swedish fish"...

  • For fans of the Christopher Guest "mocumentaries":?

I happen to be a huge fan:

    A) What is your favorite of the three movies and why? ('Waiting For Guffman', 'Best In Show' and 'A Mighty Wind')

    B) Add a little more --i.e., favorite scene/moment; favorite character or actor/actress in this wacky, talented ensemble.

  • Is anyone interested in attending tonight's Phils-Mets game?

7:05 pm - in Philly Citizens Bank Park

    Good seats - Section 325 (Terrace) - $27.50 each

(If interested and you live in the S. Jersey area, you can also send me an e-mail by 12:30 pm or so)

If you can't make it and know the stadium, any good advice for selling them --I'm not looking to make a profit, or trade them in.

I don't usually post "questions" like this, but since I spend so much time here, why not?
