I am in search of a rod and reel I can use to do shore fishing in Los Angeles and go boat fishing in Catalina Island. Something that can be reliable in both parts.

Need to start asking for my xmas gift :) thank you.

Ive fished Halibut and ive seen people catching yellowtail on the boat.

I am looking on buying a metal detector. Thinking of mostly using it at the beach. Want to spend less than $250.. I am deciding between this 3 metal detectors. 1. Fisher F2 metal detector, MP Digital MPX and the Garrett Ace 250. Mostly gonna be used in the sand, but sometimes in the wet sand as well. What do you think?
