  • If I'm away at college-how do I vote on Nov 4th?

I'm just going to be old enough to vote for the election and I'm trying to register to vote right now--but I don't know what to do since I'm away at college. I'm still in the same state-but not in the county that I permanently reside in. Do I register to vote in my home county? I can't get home to vote-so will they like let me vote here or do I have to apply for an absentee ballot or something?

I don't know a lot about the political process [no worries, I am informing myself about the candidates] but really want to vote in the election! Any help or input is greatly appreciated!

    Thank you!

  • Can you burn WMA music files onto a cd?

There's an old album that I can only get online through Wal-Mart music downloads. All of the songs are in WMA music format though..and it says it doesn't play on the iPod- but can you burn them to a cd? i don't really know how downloading music works, i've never really done it.

and if it can be burned to a cd can it then be imported into itunes onto an iPod? i would get it in MP3 if i could, but unfortunately its not available.

    Thanks!!

  • Calculus help!?

The vessel shown is filled at the rate of 4 cubic feet per minute.

How fast is the fluid level rising when the level is 1 ft.

The vessel thing is a triangular prism flipped upside down. The height of one of the end triangles is 10 feet. The width of the rectangle on top [and the base of the triangle] is 8 feet. The length of the entire thing is 20 feet.

    Please help!

let me know if you have any questions about dimensions.

    Thank You!

  • Chances of admission to Cornell?

Cornell University is my #1 college choice, and I sent in my regular decision application. I'm really nervous about if I'm going to get in, because I don't know where else to go if I don't get in. I was wondering what you guys thought about my chances.

-I have a 4.0 unweighted GPA, taking the most challenging course load that my school offers (all honors and AP classes that I can.. which is only about five.)

-I've gotten 4's on all of my AP exams so far and am taking 2 more this year.

-Taken 3 other courses for college credit

-I am ranked first in my class with an unweighted GPA.

-Taken a 3 year Science Research course in which I completed my own original Scientific Research and wrote a Scientific Paper on my research

-Extracurriculars: Dance lessons for 13 years-2/3 days a week, recreational basketball, President of the Science Club and Student Council, Treasurer of the French Club, in National Honor Society, academic challenge team and involved in the drama club. I also tutor

  • Severe calf pain-will it go away?

So yesterday, I decided I needed to get back into running shape. I haven't really run for an extended period of time for awhile. I was going to start off small, but once I started running I felt fine and was surprised about that, so I kept going. I didn't feel any pain while running-and only a little a few hours later. But I woke up this morning with very bad calf pain. Is this just from not using my calf muscles to that extent for awhile? Will this start feeling better soon? It's quite hard to walk normally to push with my toes. Does anyone have any tips to help reduce this pain (ice, stretching, etc?)

  • What to do with stereo?

We have a really old stereo in my house, and I was playing a tape in it today..I know..old school. Anyways, in the middle of it the speakers just stopped although the tape was still turning and I looked over at the stereo and it was smoking. The smoke smelled really bad. I immediately turned it off and unplugged it. The smoke made a really bad odor and stuff. Do you think this is harmful to inhale? I mean i opened windows and ventilated the house but the stereo part itself still smells bad. Should I be worried about it starting on fire or anything? I mean its been like 20 minutes and it hasn't done anything. Will it be fine if i leave it alone? I doubt it works anymore, but I'm just concerned with safety for my house and stuff. Thanks!

  • Can you still pass a road test if you don't parallel park that well?

I'm taking my road test in about two hours. I've been practicing parallel parking like crazy..but I'm not that consistent. Sometimes I'll do it really well and other times I'm totally off. It's not a lack of practice..I just can't get it every time. I can't cancel my test now without paying extra. I was just wondering if you can still pass a road test [[in New York State particularly]] if you do everything else well and are just a little too far away from the curb or something. Does anyone have any experience with this? Please help-and fast!!! Thanks.

  • I really really like my best friend..?

Me and my best guy friend have been best friends for 2 years. We have all of the same classes in school, and there are many times that we only talk to each other in some classes. We walk in the halls together, we both wait for each other after a class. When I was on crutches, he carried my bookbag for me. He is an awesome friend, but I developed romantic feelings for him about a year 1/2 ago. I try to move on and say that its better if we're just friends, but it doesn't work. Another nice guy asked me to prom, and I didn't know how to say no, so I said yes. But immediately i thought of how I couldn't be with my best friend who I have the most fun around. I found myself longing to be with him all night and looking over at him while dancing with my date. I felt awful for my date, who is an extremely nice guy. But as much as I try to deny it, everything keeps coming back to my friend. Should I take a leap of faith? idk if he feels the same way & I don't want to ruin our friendship..help.

  • Best ways to prep for the SAT without taking a course?

I have taken an SAT prep course already at my school-and it didn't help too much. I didn't do as well as I wanted to. Does anybody know the best tools out there to do well-I have the huge Barrons SAT book..but I was wondering if there was anything else that could help me raise my score significantly..like 100/200 points?

  • What should I do about SAT/ACT scores?

I really want to get into Cornell University. It just seems like the best school out there that fits me. I have a 4.0 GPA [taking all the honors/AP classes that my school offers]. I haven't been able to take AP in much of anything because I believe we only have 6 at my school, and 4 of them are only offered Senior year. I have a lot of good extracurriculars and leadership activities. But my standardized test scores aren't so hot. I'm ok with my ACT score [composite of 30..with very high writing, reading, and math separate parts] but the ever-stressed SAT [i live in NY] I didn't do so well on. I got an 1820 with a 630 on both Math and CR, and a 560 on writing. My SAT II scores are Math 2-590 [will take it again], Chem-620 and US History-650. Those aren't great in comparison either. I did report my SAT II scores, did my SAT reasoning scores go there too? And can I get them to look at my ACT scores over SAT scores when considering my app? What do you think my chances are of getting in?

  • Would I be penalized for using my ACT scores over SAT scores on college applications?

I took both the ACT and SAT this spring. I got a composite score of 30 on the ACT (with writing) and much to my dismay, an 1820 on the SAT. All of the schools that I am looking at take either one, but I was wondering if anyone knew if they really prefer SAT scores over ACTs, because my ACT score was much higher. Would they reject me for reporting an ACT score over an SAT? Has this happened to anyone else and what did you do?

  • What kind of jobs are available for an Environmental Science major?

I plan on majoring in Environmental Science. I know that there are many places to work in that deal with the Environment. I was just wondering what specific jobs you can have with this major, and what kind of schooling you need for each position. Is grad school necessary for many of these jobs?
