  • Should we host a Japanese exchange student?

We are thinking of hosting a student from Japan since my son goes to a school where he is learning Japanese. I was wondering what sorts of things I should consider before making a choice about going ahead with it or not going ahead.

  • Would you become the president of the Parent's Association?

I am in the Parent's Association at my son's school and a very active member. I am currently the secretary but our president has left and now nobody wants to so the job. I think I could do a good job but I'm worried that it will be too much work for me beacuse I'm getting married in August and will have a lot of planning and work to do for that since we have my family flying in from America and friends from throughout Europe.

I'm sitting right in the middle of the fence on this one so I need some outside opinions to tip me one way or another. I can see that it will be a lot of work but I can also see that I could do a lot of good for my son's school. Help!

  • Do you think it is unfair...?

My husband and I have two biological sons and have been thinking about adoption for our third child. We are all caucasian I am Scottish and my husband is Australian. We all have medium to dark brown hair. (Not that all that matters but sometimes people who answer want to know that stuff)

The two countries that we are eliglable to adopt from are China and Ethiopia. What I am trying to consider is if it would be fair to a child from China or Ethiopia to be raised by a family who do not look the same as that child. Of course, for our family we don't have any issues with this as my husband has an adopted sister who is Asian and I lived in Malaysia for 5 years as a child so it's nothing to us but I want to know what you think that child will have to tolerate from others for having a family that is of another race. A mother's love is blind to such factors but it is something to consider because our choice is not just ours but also the prospective child's.

  • HELP!!! What do I tell my friend?

My very good girlfriend and I share everything with one another. She told me about a problem she had and I don't know what to say. She and her fiance have been together for 7 years and have two kids together (the reason they got together) They are now planning their wedding but she told me last night that she thinks he doesn't love her or want to be a husband or father any more. He goes out and does drugs with his friends even though she asked him to not do the drugs any more though she doesn't mind him going out. She doesn't know how to talk to him about it and wanted me to tell her what I thought she should do. The big problem is that she sees my situation (married for just on five years with one baby) as being what she wants. I'm afraid that she will think that I'm judging her because I really think that she shouldn't have gotten into the relationship just because she was pregnant in the first place but I can't say that to her. What's constructive to say? How can I help her

  • What colour should the mother of the bride and groom wear?

I am getting married next August and my colours are dark chocolate brown, pistachio green, and ivory. I am wearing ivory and my bridesmaids are wearing chocolate brown while the groom and groomsmen are wearing chocolate brown suits with pistachio ties. My mum and m-i-l have asked me what colour I think they should wear. I don't mind really but I don't know if there is any rule of thumb on this. What do you think???

  • How would you deal with this person?

I am on a committee where the leader likes to delegate tasks to others but then won't allow any of us to just do our jobs. He makes sure that he's right there next to each of us when we make any decision. I am meant to arrange a lunch for our group (this is the job he gave me) and I asked him the basics of info that I would need to get the job done such as when, where, how many, do people have dietary restictions. He gave me the info and has since over ruled every decision I have made. I found a great company that would bring to our venue nice platters of fruit, sandwiches, soups, and cakes and he came in right as I was booking it and told me I should use another company. How should I respond to this person? He isn't my boss just a co-worker who has taken the committee head job on for themselves. I don't want to be rude but I think that once a job is delegated that person should be left to get on with it without having some one looking over their shoulder.
