When would a police officer shoot someone?
I'm writing a short story in which a police officer is confronted with a very large man who appears to be on drugs, but is unarmed. Would the officer shoot the man if he failed to stop coming toward the officer and refused to listen to orders to stop? Also, what are some other things the officer might try instead of shooting the guy?
5 AnswersLaw Enforcement & Police9 years agoHow do I work around the usual job website chronological format?
I have worked several jobs that aren't relevant to my career goals, and do not show an employer what truly have to offer them. Because of this, I use a combination resume that lists my skills first, then a brief chronology of what jobs I've held. Unfortunately, company websites generally tend to want you to enter things in a chronological format. How do I get around this?
2 AnswersOther - Careers & Employment9 years agoCombining jobs on resume?
Over the past four years I have worked at several temporary positions that are completely irrelevant to my current position and my future goals. My resume looks like this:
2011 - 2011 Temp Agency A
2011 - 2011 Temp Agency Y
2011 - 2010 Temp Agency B
2010 - 2008 Company X
2008 - 2008 Temp Agency Y
2007 - 2008 Crud Company
1998 - 2007 U.S. Military
Each letter is a separate company. How can I combine these so it looks better?

I'm interested in the field, and would like to talk with someone about it before I go spend a lot of money on graduate school.
1 AnswerPsychology1 decade agoGood U.S. cities for Explosive Ordnance Disposal/bomb expert/counter-terrorism experts
My boyfriend is working on getting U.S. citizenship; he's an explosives/counter-terrorism expert with twenty-two years of experience. Basically, he's told me he's willing to relocate wherever he can find work in the U.S. Does anyone have any suggestions?
The other part of this is that I'm going to be studying for a law degree, so wherever we go, I need to be able to find work as well. My most likely focus would be contract/business law.
5 AnswersLaw Enforcement & Police1 decade agoCan you get a commission w/ a degree from American Military University?
I have a prior enlisted Marine friend who wants to pursue a commission in the U.S. Marine Corps by getting his degree and then going to Officer Candidate School. Will the Marine Corps accept a degree from AMU for this purpose?
2 AnswersMilitary1 decade agoCan someone tell me about a day in the life of a paralegal?
I'm interested in becoming a paralegal and would like to find out more about the profession. What I know is that it involves research, interviews and writing documents. What I want to know is:
1. What do you like about it?
2. What do you hate?
3. What's your average day like?
4. Could I e-mail you privately?
Thanks!
Law & Legal1 decade agoWhen I try to reattach a car's battery, the alarm goes off.?
This guy I know has a 1993 Toyota Camry. He deployed to Iraq; the person watching the car didn't run it because she was disgusted with the interior and the battery drained completely. She bought a new battery, but when she tries to connect it, the aftermarket car alarm goes off. We tried switching off the only switch in the car, but that didn't work. The alarm system seems to be an Audiovox APS200 for which we have no manual. If anyone can tell me how to deactivate the alarm so that we can get the battery attached, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks!
3 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs1 decade agoAre there any lawyers out there who don't work 60+ hours a week?
Just wondering. I'm considering law as a career, but am somewhat put off by the amount of time everyone says lawyers spend on the job.

The degree would be in either law or library science, so I wouldn't exactly be a minimum wage slave.
1 AnswerImmigration1 decade agoHow do I get a copy of my high school report card when I graduated 17 years ago?
I graduated high school in 1989. Unfortunately, for whatever bizarre reason, one of the universities I am applying to wants a copy of my grades. I know that my high school probably won't have them on file. Where can I go to request them?
I attended school in California, by the way.
4 AnswersPrimary & Secondary Education1 decade agoI would like to do an informational interview with someone in public relations. How would I find that person?
I'm considering doing a switch to a career in public relations. I'd like to talk with someone in this field about their likes, dislikes, etc. Does anyone know someone who'd be willing to talk with me about the job?
Alternately, does anyone know where I could go to find someone? H%ll isn't an option; I'm already there.
1 AnswerCareers & Employment2 decades agoChanging careers to public relations?
I'm currently in the military and considering switching to a civilian PR position. I'd like to talk to someone about the field - what they like, hate, etc.
Also, I've already been to wetfeet.com & the bureau of labor statistics websites. Any suggestions for further research?

6 AnswersOther - Games & Recreation2 decades agoHow does a Brit with 3 years EOD experience get a job in the U.S.?
My partner is ex-British Army. He just retired after 22 years in. He's been explosive ordnanace disposal for at least three years, having led and participated in operations in Iraq, Afghanistan and Northern Ireland among other places. Right now he's doing de-mining instruction for the United Nations in Afghanistan.
However, what he really wants to do is move to the United States. Any suggestions?
