  • A MARRIED MAN ASKED ME OUT AND LIED?

I met a guy at work. We talked. We laughed. He asked me out. Our first date did not happen because he worked on call. A day after, he told me he's married, living with his wife, in the process of moving out, getting a divorce. He and his wife have a 5 years old daughter. He told me he wanted to be honest with me before we go out, which I appreciated. I thought it over and I told him that until his divorce is finalized and he moves out, he is still a married man and I do not date a married man. Whenever he's ready, he can ask me out again and I'll let him know, and until then, we should just be friends. I also told him to not take it as me pressuring him into getting a divorce and that if there's a chance for him and his wife to work out, I would prefer that much better for the sake of his daughter.

He agreed to be friends but continued to flirt with me and suggested that we meet outside of work. I expressed my interest in him but said I didn't feel comfortable meeting and blur our friendship and other people could misunderstand.

I thought about how little I know about him and how we are pretty much strangers and I only have his words so I decided to do a little research. And I found his wife's facebook, which is public, and has recent photos which suggested that they are one happy family and none of his family and her family suspected that there is a divorce going on. His wife seems happy about their marriage and unaware of this divorce he told me.

I want to confront him. But because we work together, I do not want any trouble but it is so hard not to be angry. After I found out that he lied, I asked him if he's getting his divorce soon.. he insisted that the marriage is over but never specifically told me about a divorce or when.

I know the best thing to do is for me to simply shut him down, stick to my stand before and walk away. But all I can think about is to confront him.

  • For how long should I keep up with piano lessons?

I was one of the kids that got forced into piano lessons by the parents when I was little. Back then, I learned for about 3 years then I stopped. Growing up, I learned more about music and developed a new appreciation and fascination for it, especially playing piano. So I decided to take up piano lessons again and have been re-learning for a few months now.

My dilemma is that I'm currently a college student (business & pre-pharm) with 2 jobs and an intense volunteer schedule (preparing for grad school) so how much music theory do I need to know to be able to practice piano on my own? For how long should I keep up with piano lessons?

Most of my friends who are music major agreed with each other that the vital part of playing piano is practice, practice and practice. I just want to be sure when I would know enough to learn solo.

even though I learned piano when I was a kid, I am much like a beginner.. a quick learner but still a beginner.

Any advice would help. I'm learning just for pure fun. I'm not looking into performing or creating music or anything :)

  • Graduate school for JD/MBA?

I am currently an undergraduate student at the University of Washington. I am majoring in Business Admin and would like to pursue a joint degree of JD/MBA for graduate. I am picking my graduate schools so I would know what are their standards so I can focus my undergraduate career aiming for those standards (GPA, GMAT, LSAT, work experience, ...)

I intend to have 5 choices and so far I have decided on:

    - Yale School of Management & School of Law

    - University of Washington Foster School of Business & School of Law

    - University of Texas Austin School of Business & School of Law

I still have 2 choices to go and I am stuck. I did my research on the US News & World Reports' top ranking schools in both Business & Law (I know I have to get accepted into both business & law to pursue JD/MBA) but because I've never been to those schools, I don't really know.

My plan is to pick an ivy (Yale) as my ideal, then the 4 remaining schools would be realistic goals.

    Please help.

  • An old French song ends with 2 words "ce soir" ?

This is pathetic but because I don't know French, I don't remember the lyrics except the last 2 words of the song are "ce soir." It's an old song, I heard it performed by a Vietnamese singer, Lam Nhat Tien on an old VHS name Mua Sao Sang. He has 2 backup female dancers dressed in red-orange dresses with same color hats. I'm pretty sure he's not the original singer but I tried to search for it on the web but I can't find the song.

    Can't anybody help me?

  • How to turn in a fee waiver form?

I have selected College Board on the Common App as my fee waiver option. I also have asked my counselor to send in the college board fee waiver form but I am sure if she has. What if the application deadline is passed and the colleges still have not receive my waiver form, will they refuse my application?

How do I go back and change the fee waiver option to Other? And if I choose Other, what do I have to do?

    Thank you.

  • College bound students - what do you look for in a college/university?

I understand that it all depends on the fact whether we would get accepted. But really, you must have some "requirements" or hopes of what your college life would be, and what is your standard for a university?

  • Atheists - why do you choose to be atheists?

I am Buddhist by family, not by choice. If I am given a choice, I would choose to become an atheist. I do not believe in God. Sorry, but I don't and I can't force myself into doing so.

The fact that I would choose to become an atheist has nothing to do with the religious obligations. Take Christianity for example, Bible is the work of men. One of my friend, a Christian, explained to me that when something require an explanation that is beyond reason, beyond science and beyond belief, God is the ultimate choice. I understand that and I am tolerable with that. I choose to be an atheist because I just cannot handle the fact that human are weak, that's why we have to create God to cling on to. And if all religions represent God, why do they have to strive to prove themselves superior?

    You're an atheist - what's your reason?

  • What do you know about Yale University or the types of law degree?

I want to go to Yale University to earn a degree in Yale, but since I am a brand-new immigrant, I'm a little clueless about the system. If I am a high school student and want to get a bachelor degree in law, then I should apply to Yale College, not Yale University, correct?

I also did research and see that there are J.D. , LL.M., J.S.D. and M.S.L. I guess I should only keep in mind about J.D. and LL.M. . If I get a BA, can I use that degree to study LL.M. ? Or do I have to get a JD in order to get a LLM?

I am a high school student. So do you advice me to apply for the early action - early decision program?

And does anybody know how much Yale Financial Aid Office would offer you?

    Thanks!

  • How to get into Yale University?

I am a high school junior. And I want to get into Yale. So far I've been getting 4.0, except this year: 3.9 something. I'm taking as much AP classes as I can, and trying to pass them if not earn college credit. I am in the total of 4 clubs and I consistently participate in them. I work (helping out with my family business) so I do not have time to do sport (sad!!). I am in Key Club so I do many community service and volunteering. During the summer, I plan to apply for the Junior Statesmen of America (the session at Yale), law camp in Los Angeles and in the fall, go on a trip to Washington DC for the National Youth Leadership Forum on Law. I've got invited to all of those. Is this enough? Because I do not feel like it's enough. I know that I also need a killer point on the SAT/ACT, many international achievemnets. I'm working on that. Anybody has any advice for me please? I REALLY want to go to Yale and I am doing the best I can.

  • Should I date my best friend?

Long story... I'll try to make it short.

I have a best friend, know each other since 5th grade. We make each other laugh. I moved away 3 years ago but we still keep in touch through chat and e-mail and instant messages. And he just asks me whether there is a chance for us to get together and become a couple? I tell him maybe. In the future maybe but right now is no. As a best friend, I love him to death. But I don't have THAT kind of feeling toward him. He has this prince-ego: he thinks he's the most handsome guy on earth. When he dates, instead of coming by and pick up his girlfriend, he expected his girlfriend to come and pick him up. Beside making me laugh, he knows nothing about me. It took him 2 years to remember my last name and my birthday. He is a nice guy and I have high standards for a boyfriend. I don't know if it would work out. Should I just give it a try? Should I lower my standards or just keep things the way they are? HELP?
