I'm a scientist, a Christian, a free-thinking conservative (there is such a thing!), a musician. I love to enjoy life and answer questions on Y!A
what is the name of the store in Chatham, MA, that sells gourmet olive oils and balsamic vinegars?
I think it's on main street. They have a web site but I can't find it in the search engines because I can't remember the name of the store.
1 AnswerOther - Food & Drink1 decade agoDo anti-war sentiments encourage the terrorists?
Does this make sense? Why or why not?
1) Radical Islamic terrorists want the US out of Iraq so they can impose an anti-US, wahabist Islamic government and persecute the Shiites.
2) The terrorists see that US deaths in Iraq are leading to a swell of anti-Bush, "US out" movements in the US.
3) They kill more Americans to speed the withdrawal.
If this makes sense, then do you think that anti-war protests (like a lot of the anti-war stuff you read on Y!A) indirectly leads to more Soldiers dying in Iraq? If not, where is my logic flawed?

...i.e. remove an advocate of a strong national defense from the Presidency?
15 AnswersMilitary1 decade agoHypothetical question for the Y!A anti-war crowd...?
Work with me here: suppose we do have intelligence and diplomatic information that a radical Islamic government in Iraq would pose a serious threat for another 9-11 -like attack in the US in the next 5 years.
Would it be worth American lives now to deter that threat?
I'd like to just get well-reasoned, well thought out answers, please. Show me how intelligent you can get with your response - I've already seen plenty of comments here on the level of "Bush is a dork." Of course, if that's the most intelligent answer you can come up with...
10 AnswersMilitary1 decade agoDo you think politicians who want to give up in Iraq should be required to sign a surrender?
I propose that any politician who want to pull out of Iraq without a clear victory there should have to sign a document that states "I surrender to terrorism and and radical Islam." That way when the next 9-11 comes, we will clearly know who was at fault.

17 AnswersMilitary1 decade agoWhat would happen if we divide the US - red/blue, conservative/liberal, dem/rep?
What if we tried to solve the "which is better, conservatism or liberalism" question scientifically. Not for real - this is just a thought question. Suppose every state has to choose - conservative or liberal - and then we let only liberal politicians govern one side, and only conservative politicians govern the other.
What would happen? Would the liberal side raise taxes to the point of socialism, and go bankrupt? Would the conservative side choke under horrid air and water pollution? Would the liberal side outlaw religion altogether, and the conservative side end up under an oppressive theocracy? Would the conservative side fight for truth, justice, and the American way under President Rush, while the pacifist liberal side is a continual easy target for terrorism under President Sheehan?
What are your ideas - how would things work well under your preferred side? How would the other side falter and fail? [repost from politics & gov't - I want to see cultural answers, too.]

10 AnswersOther - Politics & Government1 decade agoIs abortion more for birth control or to save the life of mothers who shouldn't give birth?
Every pro-choice person I know says abortion should be legal to save women's lives, but it seems that 999 out of 1000 abortions are for convenience.
35 AnswersOther - Society & Culture2 decades agoWhen will a Starbucks be built in northeast El Paso?
There are Starbucks throughout the city except in the NE off of 54. This is a large, active, growing area; a store there would do great! We've heard rumors of one off Dyer or MLK, but no one can confirm these.
