  • To Christians - when is it allowed to kill fellow humans?

The ten commandments include one that says "Thou Shalt Not Kill". I have not seen any exemption clauses written that go with that.

Yet we regularly see Christians killing others, not just in self defense, not just Heathens, but also fellow Christians, civilians, women and children all.

And we see the various churches giving their blessing to the killers.

So what are the exemptions that make it all right to kill others? Who decides when it is ok to provide an exemption? Who has the right to give this exemption?

If you think I'm making it up what do you think your government employs soldiers other defense personnel for? What about Executioners? The USA not so long ago invaded a foreign nation and killed hundreds of thousands mostly civilians. Towards the end of World war II atomic bombs were dropped on 2 Japanese cities quite deliberately killing civilians and cities hosting large Christian populations were chosen. They were not 'military' targets.

In Germany, Dresden was firebombed again deliberately targeting civilians in an attempt to demoralize the enemy.

It is accepted military practice to excuse collateral damage ie. civilians killed. Sorry we bombed your wedding party, we thought it was some nasty people.

Why is it ok for a Christian to deliberately kill innocents when one of the ten commandments clearly unequivocally says "Thou Shalt NOT!"

Funny how some of the same churches want to ban gay marriage because it is an abomination [even there is no commandment against it]

  • Does anyone have time to correct poorly written climate info?

Does anyone with a skill for plain writing want to assist an NGO [Eco Forestry Forum, PNG] in getting their AGW leaflets corrected?

I have been given 8 or so A4 leaflets for disseminating information to the general public re AGW. Unfortunately they are full of conceptual errors, mistakes and just poor writing. I don't want to print these in mass as they are, but have limited time to 'fix' them. Anyone want to assist on a voluntary basis?

Given local literacy levels they have to be aimed at grade 8 reading levels, About 300-350 words each.

  • Why am I not surprised by this email in response to my Yahoo Answer?

    From: Laura

Your anti-Americanism is disgusting, and reminds me why we as Americans must FIGHT the global warming movement. You people oppose our country, values and people. We must fight to survive. You people will destroy us. We can't allow it. They're after us. We must fight them.

This after I pointed out that many American AGW deniers were not the brightest kids on the block, and that American culture is to resort to violence and attack rather than informed meaningful discussion.

That response just confirms it I think. Yep why not Fire bomb or Nuke Europe Now! Just in case we continue to point out the obvious. I am 100% European, but now live elsewhere. Not saying where in case she wants to nuke me......

  • There is a way of calculating the theoretical maximum efficiency of a heat engine, Can anyone help?

the formula uses absolute temperature and temperature difference to calculate a theoretical maximum efficiency for a heat engine. Does anyone know the formula, I have forgotten and don't have access to any helpful textbooks.
