i just got a humidor, and i know nothing about them. here's what i've done:

Calibrated the hygrometer

Wiped the inside with distilled water

Left a cup of distilled water in the humidor

Hygrometer now reads about 68

Now do i just fill the humidifier?

What about a sponge - do i need to leave a damp one in the box?

stupid question, but do i open the top on the humidifier to add the solution? once i fill it is it ready? how often will i need to check or refill the humidifier? use solution or distilled water? i barely even smoke cigars, and i got this as a gift. now i have maintenance to do.
