  • video corrupted when copied from Canon 650d?

My Canon 650d, while being great for still pictures, has failed to produce video my computer can play. Playing on the camera it is fine. Once on the pc screen it is half a flashing screen of pixels and half video. Useless. I've contacted Canon support after replacing the memory card for a class 10 one, in case the class 6 wasn't fast enough. I'll see what Canon say, but any ideas here? Many thanks.

  • Am I the only person still running a Dyson DC01 Vacuum cleaner?

I've just checked how old the thing is and it's 11 years old. I keep buying the replaceable parts, and the motor is still happy. I just wonder how long I still be able to replace the parts, and do the new ones, built outside the UK, have the same longevity? It'll be a collectors item before long.

  • Is it just me who can't drive in the snow?

I made a tit of myself this morning. My big fat Honda Accord couldn't climb out of the little estate I live in. Every way out was a hill. Gave up, rang work and walked son to school. How crap am I?

  • Part-time civil servants on flexitime-bank holdays?

If this is you could you let me know the following:

Do you only get credited pro-rata for bank holidays? For example you work 3/5 of normal full-time hours so you only get credited for 3/5 of a day if there is a bank holiday. With the result that if your normal working day falls on a bank holiday you get that 3/5 of a day leaving you 2/5 of a day in the red. However if the bank holiday falls on a day you done work, yippee you get an extra 3/5 of a day. This means if you are someone who has to work Tuesday to Thursday you are constantly having to work extra or sacrifice overtime to make up flexi debt. If you are in this situation you will understand. I just want to check that this is a civil-service wide issue. Thanks.

I think Bank Holidays should be just a day off...no flexi lost or gained. It would be anywhere else.

  • Reeta and Shami Chakrabarti..related?

Are they? I've asked this before and had the question deleted, which makes me suspicious. I admire both these women for both their professional works. Just curious if they are related. Wikipedia doesn't mention any relationship.

  • Knife crime statistics?

Some police forces are reporting a reduction in the number of knife crimes between June and October. They say their targeting of suspicious individuals/stop and search, and scanning devices are responsible. Surely these statistics are skewed by the difference between June and October: June warm, light evenings...October: freezing (too cold for those skimpy hoodies) dark evenings. What do you think? I think lies, damn lies and statistics...also I believe knife crime has been as much of a problem since somebody first thought of sharpening a bit of metal...I've discussed this with people two generations above mine. So what do you think?

  • Honda Accord driver mat?

Does anyone know for sure where I can buy just the drivers mat for a honda accord 54 plate...the rest of the mats are fine-at a reasonable price- so Honda dealerships are not an option.

    Thank you for your help.

  • Watching X factor, is it just me?

And thinking out of all the thousands of people who entered, THESE are the best vocalists we could select? They are utterly mediocre. I don't know why I care, the music that is shat out at the end of the series isn't fit for lift music. Rant over.

  • A male lovebird needed- North East England-help me ears are bleeding!?

My hen lovebird is lonely..and hence very noisy, always screaming for a mate. She was "widowed" over a year ago. I'm having difficulty finding somewhere to get male as the shop where they were bought don't sell birds any more, and there seems to be a lack of bird-selling pet shops around here. Anyone know of a breeder? Its annoying I can't use the word **** for a male bird, good grief. Thank you for your help.

  • Spectacles for astigmatism?

I've just got my first pair of specs for astigmatism (diagnosed a bit late at 37!). I'm finding that things like the computer screen are not square and that horizontal surfaces (like steps and the water in the bath) are sloping towards me. No straight lines going curved, more like square things looking a bit trapezoid. Will this improve as my brain stops trying to allow for the astigmatism?

  • Have your oldest CD's deteriorated?

There was a fear back in the early 90's that cd's would start to degrade after some years. We have over 1200 cd's and they date back to 1984...pre barcodes! The only one I can think of with problems was Metallica: Master of Puppets, it had a few little holes which caused skipping on some players...but that was a manufacturing problem and is still no worse. Just wondered.

  • Could this be Asperger's or dementia?

A close relative is very difficult to communicate with. She talks to you but cannot process what you say to her, or answer any questions without very long and frustrating effort on your part. Her hearing has been tested and found to be fine. I'm worried because she'll say "Oh yes" to whatever is being asked of her, which is worrying as she lives alone and when people visit she cannot tell you why they came or what they said. This seems to be getting worse but she has always been very dependent on others to deal with social situations. Since she lost her husband she has coped fairly well but has to keep everything routine. She reacts with little emotion when hearing of family news and would not be able to tell you what her offspring do for a living..she see's them regularly. Any ideas?
