Can I machine wash my kids' lunch boxes?
My kids have soft lunch boxes that over the course of the school year have gotten rather dirty. The tags say they are made of polyester and PVC with a filling/insulation of EVA (honestly not sure what that is.) I'm hoping to just toss them into the washing machine with some towels, but I don't want to ruin the lunch boxes functionality. Has anyone washed lunch boxes? Did they come out ok?
3 AnswersCleaning & Laundry7 years agoDoes anyone have a recipe for Mac and cheese that is good for a buffet?
My family likes stovetop style Mac and cheese, but it usually does not hold for very long. I would like to make some for an upcoming party, but I need a recipe that can stay nice and creamy in a slow cooker for buffet service. Does anyone have a recipe that would work for that?
5 AnswersCooking & Recipes7 years agoAny ideas for upcycling old PC parts?
My husband is a big tech guy, and as such we have a lot of old PCs, monitors, etc sitting around the house. We have recently been working on building him a small home office, and I wonder if anyone has any ideas on how we might use the old computer parts as storage and organization solutions. Any feedback would be really helpful!

I noticed today a gold award ribbon next to my name on Yahoo Shine's comments, and 'm just curious what it represents. I haven't noticed this feature before and I haven't seen any anouncement about it. Thanks!

Plastic wrap? Paper? I'm meaning to make a small stockpile of breads to sell at a bake sale, and I'm wondering what's the best way to keep homemade bread fresh.
7 AnswersCooking & Recipes9 years agoCan I freeze lasagna made with no-cook noodles?
I'm a big fan of making meals ahead of time and often make lasagna ahead to freeze. My husband brought me no-boil noodles, and I'm wondering if I can make the lasagna ahead and freeze it like I normally do, and will it affect the quality at all?
2 AnswersCooking & Recipes9 years agoSteamed cabbage uses?
I am planning to make stuffed cabbage for dinner, but I know I won't use the whole head of cabbage. Is there a technique for steaming just the number of leaves I will need, or does anyone have a recipe I could use the rest of the cabbage head in after it has been steamed for the leaves? Any help would be appreciated.
3 AnswersCooking & Recipes9 years agoCan I make my own frozen spinach?
I have a bag of baby spinach that I am not going to use before it goes bad. Are there any special steps I need to freeze it properly, or just chop it up and put it in a freezer bag?
2 AnswersCooking & Recipes9 years agoCan I save already peeled potatoes?
I accidentally peeled more red potatoes for a recipe than I ended up needing. Is there a way I can still save them for later use?

5 AnswersBooks & Authors10 years agoCan I save my mangoes?
I bought a few mangoes from the supermarket, and my husband accidentally put them straight in the fridge when we got home. I read that if you refrigerate a mango that is still green (which these are) it won't ever ripen. Is this true? Is there anyway to save these mangoes?
2 AnswersOther - Food & Drink10 years agoWhat are some ways you stoke the fire?
I'm not neccessarily referring to passion or "spice". I find myself too often being short or impatient with my husband (and kids sometimes). I guess what I'm wondering is how do you get yourself back into that mindset of loving your mate more than yourself? What motivates you to look past those nagging faults and see that person you fell in love with? How do you remind yourself to be in love with your spouse?
5 AnswersMarriage & Divorce1 decade agoHow bad is your sweet tooth?
I was reading a blog on Shine, and someone mentioned that they hate yogurt and fruit because it tastes too sour to them! I can only imagine how much sugary-proccessed junk you have to eat to make real fruit taste downright sour, but it made me think: how many more people out there are like that? Do you find fruit to be refreshingly and naturally sweet? Or it is far too bland (or sour) for your palette?
5 AnswersDiet & Fitness1 decade agoHow to bring my milk in faster?
I gave birth to my son via c-section Monday afternoon. (Dec. 8th) So far, my milk has not come in at all, and I have been forced to feed him formula. Is there anything I can do (besides having him suckle an empty breast for stimulation) that can help bring in my milk sooner? I'm getting desperate, I really want to breastfeed my baby. Where is my milk?
9 AnswersNewborn & Baby1 decade agoPregnant with a lump in my throat?
I am 32 weeks and have suddenly developed a somewhat painful lump in my throat. It isn't a lymph node- the swollen spot is not under my chin, but down lower, where an Adam's apple would be in a guy. It's sore on the inside and tender to the touch outside, is this something I should be worried about? At every prenatal visit, they ask me if I have trouble swallowing- obviously they're monitoring for something. I don't have difficulty swallowing at the moment, it's just sore. Any help would be appreciated.
2 AnswersWomen's Health1 decade agoWhat's the difference between corn flour and cornstarch?
After a long time in between homes, I've finally started unpacking some pantry items. I found a canister labelled "cornmeal", which it obviously isn't; it's much too fine. My guess is that it is corn flour or cornstarch I bought and labelled with the only similar label I had. But now I can't remember what it is! How can I determine what the product is in the canister? There's quite a bit, and I'd hate the Idea of throwing it all out.
4 AnswersCooking & Recipes1 decade agoA question about resistance?
A calculator told me I needed a 47-ohm resistor for a circuit I'm building. Do I need exactly 47 ohms, or can I use one close, like 50 ohms?
5 AnswersPhysics1 decade agoHow to build a circuit for a single LED?
I'm trying to build a costume prop- a wizard's staff with a ball at the top that lights up. Unfortunately, I really have no idea how to go about doing this. I don't have a very thick piece of wood (about 1" diameter), so I wanted to use a small LED inside the staff. What materials would I need to build a simple circuit to light up the LED?
