This past Wed I noticed my beloved cat very lethargic. I took him to the vet. They ran a blood panel showing degeneration of his liver. They were not sure what could be done $500, but there were "additional" tests. I was looking at an addn $700 just to find out what might be wrong. I decided to take him home to keep an eye on him. I hated to place a value on his life, because there is nothing monetarily that can replace my feelings for him. Unfortunately, I can not afford to spend $1500 dollars on just finding out what is wrong without any course of treatment. I kept him comfortable over the weekend & spent sleepless nights comtemplating the morality of making a decision over his life. On 1 hand I could spend the money I to find out nothing can be done for him. On the other that my taking him home could have cost him his life. On the third I could have had him put to sleep when he might have been able to been healed.

Last night he wanted outside and when I woke up he was gone.

Any literature out there (from an unbiased, independent source) that compares/rates "like" competing AC systems (Tons, SEER, Component Materials, Warranty, Price) from Trane, RUUD, Carrier, Amana, Westinghouse, American Standard, etc.

Every AC company tends to promote the unit that they have agreements (or biggest profit margin) with and always play down the other competitive units. Likewise, pricing in the industry is strenously controlled and not available to consumers (even retail pricing) unless you get a quote, making it extremely difficult to do your research.
