In which episode of the show Home Improvement will I find ...?
Looking for the episode name and season # of the episode where Tim is performing some sort of work on the phone or intercom system at his house. Jill is present. While operating within a hole in the kitchen wall, sparks suddenly fly from a phone in the foreground.
1 AnswerComedy1 decade agoIn which episode of The Simpsons can I find a scene of Homer sitting at the Nuclear plant control booth?
Specifically looking for the Episode title and Season # or Year. The scene that would work best is where a control alarm goes and surprises Homer somehow... even if just with a "D'oh." I vaguely recall one where he is eating donuts and doesn't notice the alarm initially.... but since there has been 21 seasons and counting, there may be numerous episodes that fit the description here. Any Simpsons experts out there?

I'm specifically looking for the name of the episode where they attempt to beam someone up, but there are some problems and a billow of smoke comes out of the transporter.
1 AnswerOther - Television1 decade agoJoin corrugated steel pipe with black iron pipe? (Plumbers only, please)?
Can you join corrugated steel pipe with black iron pipe elbows and other connectors? Both of these pipes can safely transport natural gas. But my question is... will these two different metals corrode when in contact with each other?
5 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs1 decade agoCryptography programming buffs only... (.NET vs. Perl)?
I am encrypting data in .NET using TripleDES. I am supplying .NET's TripleDES with both a key (192 bits) and an Initialization Vector (IV) of 64 bits.
The content is getting sent to a Linux box when I must use Perl to decrypt the content. The Perl module available to do this only takes a key and NOT an IV.
Does anyone know how the IV works with .NET ? Should I be setting it to all zeroes on the .NET side?
2 AnswersProgramming & Design1 decade agoI am considering reglazing my bath tubs...?
We have two bath tubs in the house we bought. Tub #1 is a cast-iron pink tub, and tub #2 is a super-sized acrylic of the most hideous shade of fuchsia that you can imagine. We'd like to reglaze them white. Has anyone had experience reglazing tubs --- how well does it work on cast-iron vs acrylic?
We're also considering having the surrounding ceramic tile reglazed to match the white color. Ever do this? How did it turn out? Did you do it yourself or hire someone?
3 AnswersDecorating & Remodeling1 decade ago.NET programmers - I'm Trying to create an add-in for Excel.?
I have a fresh install of MS Visual Studio 2005 and I've also installed the MS Visual Studio Tools for the Office System (VSTO 2005). I am trying to create an add-in for MS Excel. When I select FIle | New Project, under the Visual Basic | Office project type, there is no choice for 2003 Add-ins. Nor is there a choice for 2007 Add-ins for that matter.
How do I find and install these templates?
3 AnswersProgramming & Design1 decade agoIn which state are my stock options taxable?
I have been living in Illinois for several years. I just exercised some stock options. I got these options in 1997 while living in Maryland. The grantor, my former employer, sent me a check and withheld a bunch of Maryland state taxes. (They had my address screwed up in their computer.) Even though we've now corrected my mailing address, they won't fix the check to switch the withholding to Illinois. They are saying the sale of options are taxable in Maryland because that's where I lived when the options were granted. Is this true or are they just too lazy to fix it?
2 AnswersUnited States1 decade agoCan you recommend a good company that sells good conatct lists for direct mailing campaigns?
We will be targetting conatcts holding certain positions/titles in US companies that are both public and private of sizes $250M to $1B in annual US Revenues. I know that a lot of lists are crappy and have old (or just wrong) information. Have you had good experiences (or bad) with any list companies such as US List, Infocore, Guaranteed Lists, Century List Services, The List Company, etc.
Also - the campaign we're doing requires us to actually obtain the list (as opposed to sending our materials off to the list managing company to generate leads for us). Thanks for your help!
1 AnswerOther - Advertising & Marketing1 decade agoMicrosoft Visual Studio Professional or Standard edition?
I am trying to decide between buying the Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Professional Edition and the Standard Edition.
I will be developing an add-in for Microsoft Excel that will perform some computations on the open spreadsheet, dump certain cells to a flat file, read the file into the payload of a SOAP message and perform a web service client call to another server. Probably will be encrypting the payload. What I'm trying to do it a little heavier than what VBA can handle. I will also want to sign the code. Then I will wrap the add-in inside an installer program to be distributed by CD or web download.
Any advice? Which one should I buy?
4 AnswersProgramming & Design1 decade agoRegular Expressions in VBA?
Can I use regular expressions in VBA code? I'm trying to write a VBA macro to perform some simple text manipulations that regular expressions will help me do very quickly. Is there an add-in or reference that I can select that will make my code work?
This is a simplified example of what I believe the syntax will be:
Dim worksheetname As String
worksheetname = regex.Match(srcref, "^{\w*?)!").groups(1).Value
MsgBox worksheetname
I am currently getting "regex .... variable not defined." when I attempt to run the macro.
2 AnswersProgramming & Design1 decade agoGenerate CREATE TABLE DDL from Oracle?
Is there a way in Oracle to have it generate the DDL (e.g. CREATE TABLE ...) for an existing table.

3 AnswersCorporations2 decades agoSpray painting cabinet handles and hinges...?
Our existing kitchen cabinet hardware is dark-worn-brass which no longer goes with the other updates we've made. We like the look (style/shape) of them, but would like to re-color them to a stainless steel color. We've cleaned them up and attempted several different spray paint colors that offer a metalic grey, but haven't quite reached the color that we want. Mostly they are turning out too bright, or too metalic. Or both.
Has anyone tried to achieve a stainless steel color this way. Any tips? Know of any suppliers of specialty spray paints beyond the usual Home Depot / Lowe's selection?
6 AnswersDecorating & Remodeling2 decades agoTurned the gas back on and now the Furnace is broken. Any suggestions?
It all started when I turned off the main gas valve outside my house because I put in a new cooktop and vent in my kitchen island. (The new downdraft vent was in conflict with the gas line, so I had to re-route it.) Anyway, when I got everything hooked backup up, I turned the gas back on.
That was a few weeks ago. All of my gas applicances are working fine except for the Furnace. It's a Rheem Imperial High Efficiency circa 1990 with electronic ignition. When I turn it on (thermostat turned way up and on HEAT setting, auto fan), the main fan comes on, the purge blower comes on, but no flame. WIthin a minute the main fan goes off, but the purge blower stays on. No flame. That's the way it stays.
Lucky time of year to be without heat! I figure I have a chance to fix this myself with your advice. Any suggestions?
5 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs2 decades agoHow to plan IT server room cooling requirements?
I have a server rack containing 10 mid-sized (2U) servers in a 10x10 server room with nothing else in it. Let's assume the power supplies on these servers are drawing about 600 watts each, at peak.
What's my low cost option to keep things cool in the event of primary HVAC outage? How do I get from wattage to BTUs?
Assume that I am NOT planning for growth.
3 AnswersOther - Computers2 decades agoHow much does a Fire Suppression System cost for an IT Server Room?
Our server room is about 20ft x 24ft in size. We'd want something like an FM-200 system. That is, something non-toxic that will put the fire out without water. Trying to get a general idea of cost including installation.
Has anyone recently had one of these installed?

3 AnswersCleaning & Laundry2 decades agoWhen does a liqueur or schnapps go bad?
I've had a box of booze in the basement for about 10 years. I've learned that the hard liquor is fine, but am curious about the other bottles: Kahlua, and various Schnapps flavors. The booze box was stored at about 60-65 degrees Farenheit out of sunlight. The liquids appear normal to sight and smell. Caps were on tight. Is this stuff any good?
