And are some people more sensitive to changes in their blood sugar than others? I am told that I am insulin resistant. I can feel bad (extreme fatigue, nausea, sometimes get shakey, etc.) but I'll take my sugar and it's 71...which my mom, who is a nurse, says is ok. Or sometimes the exact opposite will happen and I will take my sugar and it's 135, which I am told is also "normal".

I don't cook much but I am trying to learn. Can someone answer these questions about my ham recipe. I am making this for a dinner party.

1) My recipe says to "Remove the rine from a large whole ham and score the fat in the traditional diamond pattern." I understand what removing the rine is, but what is scoring the fat in the "traditional diamond pattern"?

2) Also, it says, "Stud it heavily with whole cloves and place it in a large roaster." Where do I buy cloves (what area of the grocery store) and what do they look like. (I told you I am an amateur!)

3)How do I "stud" it with cloves?

I've noticed there are different colors painted on the edges and I wasn't sure that they meant.

Which is better for a 2 year old?

I am on 2000mg a day for PCOS. I am very small, about 115 lbs., but since I have been on Metformin, my lower abdomin has seemed bloated or swollen. I ran out of medicine for about 3 days and it went away. I wondered if this was a side effect? I tried reducing my dosage but IR got worse so I had to go back to 2000mg. (all with approval of my doc)

I have polycystic ovaries so my skin has moderate acne that no cream or topical stuff will touch. My dermatologist recommended Accutane. How does this medication work to clear acne? Are the side effects as bad as people say? And how long do I have to be off of it before I can get pregnant? My dermatologist said that 50% of people who take accutane do not have acne problems after discontinuing use. I am 28 and I would like to try it because I have tried everything else and I do not want to be on antibiotics the rest of my life. Please only answer if you are a doctor or have taken accutane.

I have not been to one before. Am I expected to dress as if I were teaching (business casual) or can I wear jeans and a nice sweater? I would much rather wear jeans but it's probably not appropriate...

A friend of mine uses laxitives for weight loss and I recently read that models do this too. What are the drawbacks to this type of weight-loss? I only need to lose about 5 lbs, maybe 10 lbs max. I exercise but I have IR (insulin resistance) so it is somewhat harder to lose weight.
