  • hvac; why is my air handler coil cold at bottom and not cold at top?

i'm still trying desperatly to troubleshoot my non-working a/c. this is a brand new system, and it's not blowing cold. my lines have the right presure, and i heard that my inside coil might be clogged, so i opened it up to see. i have a vertical unit with an A shaped coil and it looks very clean. the coils at the bottom are real cold(not frozen), but the coils from half way and up are not cold at all. is this normal? any ideas why it is happening?

    thanx

  • HVAC new system won't cool and liquid line is hot?

i just had a new hvac system installed by someone who does not seem capable of diagnosing or servicing it. it runs fine, but does not cool more than 1 or 2 degrees, and the liquid line is pretty hot. i plan to hire a real pro this time, but i am straped for cash and need it fixed real soon, so i want to try and narrow down the problem so i can get the best quote on the repair.

this is a full trane system, all new, 3 ton furness, 2.5 ton coil, and 2 ton/ 10 seer compressor with 15' line set.

i know of two potential problems. we did have a few minor leaks at first, but we were testing the system with small amounts of pressure in quick bursts, so i don't think we lost much. also, i know that the fccv valve in the coil was not changed from the 67 it came with to the 57 that the compressor came with. but i haven't found anything that states either of these things would lead to these two symptoms.

thanks in advance for any help you can give

  • what to do when your 3yo can beat the child locks?

ok so she will be 3 in july, anyways.... so i'm a father of 4 girls, 7yo, 6yo, 4yo, and 2yo. my girls are very well behaved, for the most part. but the 2yo has always been the mischievous one. she went through three baby gates at our old house, including the first one that lasted through all three girls before her. and when we moved, you have to walk through the kitchen to get to the bedrooms, so gates would be big problem. so we went through and child locked all the lower cabinets fridge, etc. . but now she has figured out how to work them, or break them(!!). she is getting into everything. for example; the wife has to leave the room to do laundry, when she returns, the 2yo has the liquid soap and is pouring a tea party. she got into the markers and drew all over herself, and the walls. she got into the sugar, juice, ranch dressing, bread, silverware, food coloring(her leg is still pink), and that is really just a small sample. we have moved all the things that are real dangerous, but we can't move all the other stuff.

we run a pretty tight ship at my house. don't think these acts have not resulted in discipline. but despite our rather large arsenal of options,(loss of privileges(tv time, snack time), having her clean her mess, corner timeout, bed timeout, etc.) she, as usual, seems unaffected, and undeterred. i honestly would love to nurture her exploration, we let her help in the kitchen as much as we can, with food, setting the table, and stuff, but she really only seems interested in getting into things she knows she is not supposed to.

  • My 4y/o was dry at night with diapers, now wets at night with panties?

The wife and i are very verced on the tips / tricks of nightime training, we're not looking for standard tips of training, but rather, for someone who may have seen similar results when making the switch. So here's the jist of it, our daughter will be 4 on the 15th, we began potty training at 2.5, and achieved "all day panies" at 3.5. she had a few accidents at the begining, but has not had a problem for months, however, we have kept her in diapers at night, part from advice, part by her request, and part by convienence because she sleeps in the same room as her younger sisters, (3 and 1)but honestly, it was her dry nights that started us training 18 monthes ago. She wakes up with dry diapers 97% of the time now, so, a week ago we decided to make the switch to nightime panties, we wake her up to go when we go to sleep(a few hours after her), but so far, she has wet every night. We understand this can be a proccess, we are not impatient, but would like to do all we can to help her along

  • I'm looking for effective and creative ways to discipline my 2.5yo during nap time. parents only please?

ok, i have 3 girls, 3.5, 2.5, & .5 (8mo). they are darlings, and i am very lucky that i don't often have to disipline, however, recently my 2.5 is really loud and disobediant during afternoon naps. we have altered scedules and increased exercize to tire them out, but that's not the problem, the problem is in order to disipline her in bed, we have to give her attention, and it seems she is feeding off that, incouraging it so she has stimulation to stay up. we already start each time taking toys/dolls out of bed, but than what? most common methods (corner, scold, t/o, seperate) all give her attention, not to mention, don't work. i did escalate to a spanking when my oldest had the same issue, once, and it worked imediatly on her, she is still very good at nap time, but when i did this to my 2.5 , she giggled at me, (?) i don't give up easy, but today was the third in a week, same problem, same escalation (no toys, than scold, then spank(over 1 hours time)), same giggle. so now what?
