I watched this anime, honey and clover (great life anime), and in that movie there is soul searching trip. I just want to know, is there someone really-really do that?? And if you do, how and is it really2 works for you?

Soul searching trip : people travel out to nowhere suddenly, and go for an advanture, looking for his 'soul' or identitiy, and what he exactly must do in life.

(in the movie, the character go on bycicle riding it around japan for a month. Sleep with sleeping bag. He is looking for his soul)
