  • Help needed to decide on my future... should I take this job or stay where I am?

I work two minutes from my flat, on 20k. been there six years. I'm 30. I am very very good at the job and my boss lets me start at 10am. The job only just covers my expenses and can be stressful at times with me often staying late. I've been offered a job five minutes from my flat, £21k. The job would teach me Sage accounts which is useful for future jobs/salary. However, job sounds dull, bosses don't sound very forgiving and I get the impression they only hired me because they need to fill position quickly, not because they really want me. I don't know what to do for the best. I should say I've been looking for work for six months but am finding it difficult without a car as so many in my area want drivers. The most important thing to me if that I don't lose my flat. If I leave the company and this doesn't work out, it's a risk. There are so many tenants in my area and not enough homes available. I'm also very bad at time keeping. I'm not sure my boss would give me a reference as I know more about the job than he does! I'd also be leaving him badly in the lurch as my co-worker is only 3 months into the job (small company.) So what would you do? Stay and wait for something else to come along thats close to home and better than my current salary? Learn to drive instead? Or go and trust everything will work itself out?

  • Anyone recommend a good mini heater that doesn't cost much to run?

My whole flat is electric. Only have one electric heater in my living room so i'm freezing! Can anyone recommend a good portable heater that doesn't cost very much to run?

    1 AnswerOther - Electronics9 years ago
  • How do you work a basic electric heater?

I have been in my new property for six months and was paying £30 a month. I have just recieved a bill saying i owe nearly three hundred pounds! I know it's down to my electric heater because i do not know how to work it properly. I only have one in my living room for my entire studio flat. I can only feel anything from it when i put my hand right next to the vent! If i put my hand about five centimetres from it i cannot feel a thing! It has no thermostatt, just a boost dial and input dial. It says below this "boast control may be switched to five in evening if additional heat required.' I am keeping this at 1, but putting my input to 4. [I have to wear jumpers and a snuggle otherwise i would freeze! Should i be turning off my heater during the day entirely? Is that how the heat exscapes? I do not understand and i love living here! Please help!

  • Is it possible to be pregnant for one month and have a miscarriage and not go to doctors/hospital?

how would you know you've miscarried? Should i go to hospital? Or will it leave my body naturally?

    2 AnswersWomen's Health10 years ago
  • miscarraige, is my friend being totally honest?

My friend told me she had a miscarriage recently, four weeks ago. She said she was a month gone [she had a one night stand] but didn't know she was pregnant. She didn't go to hospital. She works five days a week and hasn't had one day off. She went to the doctors on Tues and today she took prozac to cope with depression she has. Something doesn't ring true? Can you help? I don't want to sound horrible but she has a history of mental problems and i want to help her.

  • i have bdd [body dsymophia) and i'm always late for work. help!?

I have body dysmophia [bbd] it basically means i'm very critical of the way i look.

I start look at 9.30 am and live five minutes away but i'm consently late for work, despite getting up at 5am! I don't think i'm ugly as such. Just very plain. My sister called me a plain jane when i was 12 and i've never got over it. Now i obsess over my appearance. I can't leave the house till everything is perfect [or at least till i look half-way decent in my eyes.] I pick at my skin to make it smoother [have loads of spots despite being 26. The worst thing is my eyebrows. I have none left having pulled them out. And i hate drawn on ones! I think they look fake and horrible! But i can't stop pulling them out! It takes me 3 hours alone to draw them back on in a way that makes me feel they look okay. [Although i still hate them.] I just don't now what to do now. I love my job but i had a review with my boss three days ago where he mentioned i'm always late. He also all but suggested i didn't get a payrise because of it. Now i'm so mad at myself. I have another review in three months time. I need the money and i don't want to lose my job but i don't know how i can be on time! I try so hard but i can't leave the house if my drawn-on eyebrows don't match up or only have half of one! It's ruining my life.

  • Do i still need to have a smear test if i'm a virgin at 25?

Just got the letter in the post. I'm a virgin though at 25. do i still need to go? Will the doctors be able to tell? That would be cringe-worthy.

    4 AnswersWomen's Health1 decade ago
  • Huge cringe-worthy problem, need help.?

It is very hard for me to admit this but i am 25 years old and a virgin. I've had a few boyfriends, but noone i've been really sexually attracted too, nobody i really wanted to touch in that way.

It hasn't really been a problem before... until now.

I've fallen head over heels in love for the first time... and the guy in question is way out of my league.

You know those films where the nerdy girl likes this hunk from afar and he gets to know her and falls for her too? The films you think never would happen in real life?

    Well... guess again.

I'm the nerdy girl. Not ugly but not beautiful either... miss average. Average brown hair, average brown eyes, average intelligence, you get the picture.

He's the hunk all the girls fancy and he could have any of them with the click of his fingers.

He's 31, a footballer, with model good looks and amazingly the personality to match. Just a nice guy.

And for some reason... he seems to like me as much as i like him.

But this is by no means a fairy tale.

    He's my boss.

    Or at least he was.

I recently got a new job because he said we couldn't be togther and work together.

Now that's out of the way he asked me out.

The only problem is... the virgin thing.

He has no idea. I know this for a fact.

He is most defintely not one.

So what the hell am i supposed to do?

I've fallen for this guy big time.

For the first time i actually want to touch someone. I fancy the pants off him.

I know he wants me sexually too.

But how the hell am i supposed to tell him i'm a virgin?

    So what would you do?

Tell him and risk him running a mile.

Or not tell him and hope he doesn't twig?

  • Legal amount of time between shifts and legal stuff regarding breaks, help!?

I have just started a new job at a hotel. I have been employed in a suprvisory role, and am on 3 months probation. I have been told i may have to finish at 12pm at night some shifts [or later] and do a morning breakfast shift at 7.00am [5.30am on a sunday.] I have also been told i may have to do split shifts on the same day. 7-1am. [Go home, even though i live an hour away] and then come bak at 5pm-1am. None of this was told to me during the interview. I was told i may have to do 12 hour shift sometimes, that's it. I was also told that i don't get a proper break. I am on a fixed contract of hours and have been told breaks for not paid for. They told me if i was doing, say, a nine hour shift, i would have to stay for an extra half hour to get a break, because when they deduct breaks i will not have covered my contract 35 hours. I was told, i can take five minutes, here or there, and this won't be deducted from my hours. Can anyone help? Does this sound right to you?
