  • Do atheist consider atheism to be a religion?

I just saw that some man was suing, to get "one nation under God" out of the US pledge of allegiance and to get "In God We Trust" off of our money. He says that it violates the constitution under the "separation of church and state" AKA freedom of religion.

If religion is defined as the service and worship of God or the supernatural, then technically atheism is the lack of religion right? So if you don't practice a religion, how can you say that the pledge or money makes you not be able to practice your religion?

The separation of church and state was originally written in the constitution to stop the possibility of having a state run church denomination. It really has nothing to do with the mention of the word God in a pledge, or on a government sculpture, etc..

  • Have you seen how AGW affects the oceans?

Just read this really interesting article:

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/mcclatchy/20100307/sc_mccl...

What excuse do all of your deniers have to explain this? The funny thing about it is that this was in line with the current climate models. Maybe these climate change scientists and their models actually know something after all, perhaps we should listen to them and try to learn something instead of accusing ALL of them as being part of a huge conspiracy.

  • Tia Chi resources online?

My combat instructor recommended that i do a little tia chi every day to help me find my center and increase my balance. Are there any resources online that show some of the basic movements to help with balance and movement and increasing my center or base?

Videos are preferable, but a book or pdf would work too.

  • Is the real issue about global warming, the CO2 control?

I like to think i am a pretty open minded guy and I have done quite a bit of research on global warming/climate change, etc...

Here is my take on it:

Despite the fact that there really is an overwhelming amount of evidence which shows that the earth is warming, many people simply deny this in hopes that denial will stop the current (BAD) cap and trade proposals to go through.

Personally i do NOT believe that all the scientists all over the world are in cahoots in a global conspiracy to fool people into be-leaving that global warming is happening when it is not. Im just not buying that argument, i cant even get a group of 4 people to agree on a place to have lunch.

On the other hand, to think that super rich globalists would use this (or any other) agenda to make more money and use it to add a certain amount of control over the population, is not so far fleched. Hell we watched it happen after 9/11 when the patriot act was passed in the name of "Anti-terrorism" where the govt. basically wiped their butts with the US constitution.

So whats the best way to handle this? Do you deny that something exist (when it clearly does) as a way of fighting globalization/new world order, or do you admit what the problem is and come up with the best solution that does not involve a ponzy scam like cap and trade?

I think we can all agree (dem, repubs, and middle) that we want to be free and not controlled, but we also don't want to see some of the possible outcomes/economic woes of the results of global warming? Thoughts?
