What if you are a salaried employee. At my job I am the primary person who relieves the receptionist during her lunch break. My regular schedule is from 8:30 to 5pm however when the receptionist uses vacation time, I come in a half hour later and stay until 5:30, which I don't like but as long as I am aware in advance and can come in later, its not a problem, but lately since the start of this new receptionist's employment, I inadvertently made the mistake of offering to switch schedules with her one day out of the kindness of my heart in order for her to attend some alumni party. Boy what a mistake that was because after that she kept hitting me up for the same favor and I said I would do it just that one time but I didn't want to get into the habbit of those things. My question is can my employer hold me to a different schedule other than vacation and absences which by the way I've never once received compensation for any extra time I've put in in cases of absences or emergencies, besides with me being salaried how does nj employment law work since I do work in the state of nj?

My CPA, who is supposed to be one of the best, tells me that I must pay SS and Medicare taxes both as employer and employee. Consequently, I pay double of what a "normal" taxpayer pays. I am a writer and earn income through royalties. Is this correct? Is there no legal way around this?

I am writing a java program that checks to see if what you input to the console is a palindrome or not. That is easy enough, however I need to make it not case sensitive as well and I dont know how to do that. So I need to be able to type something that has capital, and lowercase letters in it like "Mom" (because that is a palindrome, but the program says its not because of the capital m) into the console and have it say that it is a palindrome....and suggestions?

What's the meaning of ''feeling cheap'' ? In a context of relationship. When you leave someone you feel cheap ?I'm French speaking and that expression is quite vague for me.

Someone can shed some light in that expression, it for a friend who was left out by his girlfriend (Anglophobe). I'm not quite sure if that phrase in that context is use because shes sad of leaving him or still trouble and thinking about staying with him...
