1 AnswerLanguages1 decade agoHomemade cleaning solution? (Vinegar, water, orange/lemon extract)?
I tried to find a little more information on an all-purpose cleaner using just vinegar, orange extract (or peel), and water, but haven't found anything. Would I use 1/2 and 1/2 water and as much orange or lemon zest/extract as I wanted? Also, would the citrus destroy anything in the vinegar?
How effective is homemade cleaner VS pinesol or lysol and so on?

I can't find it at all online, much less in a store. Ugh. Me want.
1 AnswerRodents1 decade agoLooking for a math game for -going into- 6th grader?
My brother took his intake test and he needs to work on converting decimals to fractions and vice versa... Any good PC games out there to help him with this? What about games for Capitalization/punctuation?
1 AnswerPrimary & Secondary Education1 decade agoIs it possible to get a dog AKC registered w/out papers?
I'm certain that my 6WK old Murray is a full blooded labrador retriever, and I'd love to get him registered, but is that possible w/out the paper work? O.o
15 AnswersDogs1 decade agoI may have Effed up...?
Ok, this is seriously the hardest thing I've ever had to do! lol
Did everything the website said (http://www.darnfar.com/Dog%20Training/housebreakin... , but adjusted it to when I work and the times that he's with me, since I'm home most of the time and he doesn't need to be crated. Well... last night at 10, I lured him in his crate with a treat and shut the door. He cried/whimpered for about twenty minutes then finally stopped after wearing himself out and fell asleep. Finally peace and quiet.... until 2AM at which point he heard me get out of bed to use the restroom and started up again. I waited half an hour, and finally took him out to potty like the thing said. Put him back in his crate after going outside w/out eliminating. Half an hour later he's still whimpering and whining and I decided that (because it eventually woke up my 12 yo) I'd just let him sleep with me on my bed until 6AM.
6AM came and I did everything I was suppose to at that time. Potty, play, breakfast, potty, play, crate. It's 8AM now, and he's just finally stopped whining. The first potty time he went outside and pee'd, second one he did not eliminate at all.
Question: How long should I let him whimper and whine before assuming he needs to go to the bathroom? I don't want to keep assuming he needs to go and go backwards on training. I want to go forward so I can sleep in peace and not worry that he'll get into something that he shouldn't while I'm sleeping. :)
8 AnswersDogs1 decade agoAnother Crate Training Q >.>?
With the job that I have I able to take breaks whenever I want for as long as I want, but I also have the option of taking Murray (puppy) with me. I am in a door-to-door situation, so he would spend a lot of time in the car. Would it be better to set him up at home with a crate or just take him with me when I'm working?
Thanks! :)
5 AnswersDogs1 decade agoCrate training puppy?
I found this (( http://www.darnfar.com/Dog%20Training/housebreakin... )) website.. is that accurate?
Should I allow any adjustment period before starting to crate train?
Thanks! :)

I use igloos, baskets, hammocks, wheels, empty boxes w/ shredded paper, and other store-bought "furniture". What are some unique rodent furniture ideas? :)
Thanks in advance!!!

6 AnswersRodents1 decade agoWhat is a good starter lizard? (For a 12 year old?)?
Lizards that are out include: iguanas, bearded dragons, monitors, house geckos.
I know leopard geckos are relatively easy to care for and are good for first time reptile owners, but are there any others? Skinks aren't necessarily out of the question, but it seems like they would require more than leopard geckos.
Basically looking for:
something that will be content in a 10 or 20Glong - for life
inexpensive
a lizard that a 12 yo can care for under an adult's supervision.
Thanks in advance! :)
12 AnswersReptiles1 decade agoAre there behavioral and health difference in toy, miniature, and standard poodles?
I have heard that standards "are more laid back", but I'm wondering about the temperaments in general between the three sizes. I'm also wondering if there are different health risks associated with size. It seems like standards would have more risks with joint or arthritis problems since they are larger?
2 AnswersDogs1 decade agoWhy do kids think they can make their parents buy them pets?
It's just not going to happen, kids. Like I've stated in other answers this is something parents generally stand pretty firm on, unless you're an older child which means you're closer to getting the heck out of their house. I'm the guardian of my 12 year old brother and if he wanted his "OWN" pet, I would say no until his socks fell off.
6 AnswersOther - Pets1 decade agoWhy are people so rat -and other small and fluffies- ignorant?
I really, honestly, REALLY do not understand. There are at least 1000 rat care websites out there. You can get information from books (I know it's very limited), forums, other rat owners, Y!A, and yet so many people will do no research at all on ANY small mammals. It seems like humans are being dulled to the point that they don't care to be so ignorant about their pets. Instead they will throw A rat in a ten gallon tank with pine bedding and feed it corn on the cob whilst never cleaning the cage. What the grrrrr is the deal?
7 AnswersRodents1 decade agoHelp me find a REALLY good bichon frise breeder! :)?
I'm looking for a primo good-o bichon frise breeder. I will be living in Milwaukee, WI by the time we actually go and get a pup, so the closer to WI the better because I don't want to have to have a dog shipped, but if we need to so that I get a really good dog, I wouldn't mind. :)
Thanks for any suggestions!

1 AnswerReptiles1 decade agoWhen is it OK to talk to kids about politics?
Our Mom died recently (Jan. 13), and I now have total responsibility of my 12 year old brother, T. I've heard him recently denouncing President Obama and saying how terrible he is. I know that he is getting this opinion not only from myself, but from other family members; however, I want him to think for himself instead of, as an adult, becoming some Conservative extremist nut-bag. lol What kind of neutral information is appropriate to give a 12 year old and where kind I find facts instead of pure media output? I really want to him to have the real information instead of just others' opinions.
Thanks in advance! :)

1 AnswerMathematics1 decade agoIs a Bichon Frise right for us?
We currently have: 5 rats, a snake, and two cats. My husband, myself, and my 12 year old brother are members of the house hold, and we are planning on fostering/adopting children within the next two years. We live in a decent-sized apartment where animals are welcome. I work on the weekends, but am home during the week. Hubby works works 7-4 during the week and my brother is at school from 7-3 during the week.
Important traits to us: must be good with children, must be a small breed per our apartment, must not be a "yappy" breed, can't be too playful..
Grooming and exercise requirements are not a problem.
