So I tend to be a loud, typical person around my friends, and at home. But whenever I meet new people or talk to teachers, I get really shy and awkward and don't know what to say. So basically,

I get good grades, maintain a 4.0, but my teachers keep telling my parents I don't participate in class. My Social Studies teacher confronted me and told me that I shouldn't be afraid of answering questions in class, but I didn't have the guts to tell her that wasn't it. She said that I work better in small groups, but I really hate working with people in general, mostly because I like to keep my academic life and social life a little separated. Mostly I work better in small groups because the teacher isn't there and there is always a friend or two of mine in the group. Anyway, I don't raise my hand in class because I really just don't want to. I don't see why I should, the teachers know the answers anyway. And I know the answers 95% of the time.

Off the topic of teachers, and on to the topic of new people. I always get really shy when I meet new people. Kids my age. My parent's friends. Boys. Girls. Doesn't matter who. I never know what to say, and tend to try and stay away.

Anyway, thanks for listening to my problems, I could use all the tips you can give.

Well I found my Christmas present today (I was looking for it...) It is an 8g iPod touch. And I felt a little disappointed, because I repeatedly told my parents that I needed the 32 if I was to get one, because on my current iPod touch I used up more then 8g and with the new video camera, I will probably use more. I guess I'm glad I found it though or else I would have been disappointed on Christmas and then my parents would go into a rant about how I'm lucky to have what I have. Anyway, how am I supposed to act surprised? I mean, it was the ONLY thing I asked for... So I was have been pretty certain I was getting it anyway, but I still need to act surprised. Also, how do I not tell them that I found it. I mean there is only 1 week until Christmas but I'm just confused. Help?

I really want to know what the song is. I saw the commercial on Teen Nick yesterday and have been listening to the commercial on youtube just to hear the song.

On friday, I was in school (of course!). We were doing some work alone, but of course, there was some talking. Anyway, the assignments were on the board, and every once in a while, you'd have to go up and look at them, because there were a few. I went up there, and I noticed the guy I've liked for the past week or so was there. I started liking him after I got over my last crush who asked someone out.

He said hi. Now this is just rare in general. I'm not a flirt. I thought guys didn't like me at all. I said hi back. Then he said something funny, I laughed, I'm not sure what, and I said something, before I knew it, I had been up there nearly a minute and only read about a sentence. Then I told him I had to get my work done, (nicely) so we both stood there for about 30 more seconds smiling and then I left.

(This is important for later, we were also working on group projects, there were groups of 4, so most groups were apart, but some had to practice.)

I was at my seat, and his group came over (my seat is by the wall, next to another. He sat in the one next to me, while the rest of his group sat in the chairs against the wall. He looked at me when he was looking around, and didn't frown. Most guys scowl or something when I'm near them. It felt akward, but it felt right. They left like 5 minutes later.

So I'm not sure what to think. Also, just on how to deal with this problem, I'm nearly a head taller than him. I hate having to look down, it makes me feel like I'm higher then him or something.

Not sure if "personal information" is special or anything, because when I got to school at like 8 (by bus, 15 minutes before school opened) I asked him why he got there so early, and he said it was because he had to walk. Then he told me it was a mile away, near a wawa. Of course, since school is 4 miles from my house, I had no idea where he was talking about. He told me a few places, and I said I didn't know them, I somehow found this funny, and was smiling. He asked me if I was just messing around, and I said no, I think he believed me. Anyway we found commonground when I mentioned the construction site I pass on the bus. (He said he lived near that). He didn't seem too frustrated, and he was smiling too.

And one last thing, I know he likes skateboarding, and I like it too. I haven't told him though, it hasn't come up in conversation yet.

So please, any advice. Do you think he likes me? What should I say. I feel a bit embarrassed with myself that I've been in a class with him for 7 months and don't know more then skateboarding. O, I know something else. He doesn't have internet. That's it. We also have a mutual friend, a girl, and people joke that they should go out, but they both say no, so I think I should talk to her.
