Ok, my son accidentally put gas mixed with two cycle oil into the mower that only need gas. He started it and it ran ,but of course was billowing blue smoke. He is only 15 and did not realize this was wrong and ran it to cut the whole backyard of about half an acre. He did this while I was at work as a surprise. When I got home I was pleased and told him I would do the front the next day. I pulled out the mower the next day to do the front . I filled it with the proper gas . It was very hard to start and when I got it started saw the blue smoke and figured out what happened. I pulled the spark plug and it was covered with oil and burned and it was a new plug just 2 mows before. I asked and verified he used the wrong gas. I showed him which gas to use but did not tell him he may have damaged it because I did not want him to fell bad. I got it started after I replaced the spark plug but it ran rough and would bog down and die several times. I guess my question is will the mower be ok if I just keep running it , will the "contaminated" gas eventually burn out or do I need to get it to the shop and if it needs to go to the shop will it cost so much to fix that i might as well just buy a new one. It is a Honda with a 5hp engine. I think it was around $500. Thanks for any help or tips.
