Could my symptoms mean Diabetes?
First, I know I have a lot of risk factors for diabetes (not the least of which being overweight). But I've taken my blood glucose throughout the day (before meals, after meals, when I'm feeling some of my symptoms) and it never strays out of the normal ranges. Here's the deal, whenever I get too hungry (say I try to skip a meal -bad I know- or I try not to snack) I get some weird symptoms that of course get progressively worse. First I just get dizzy if I'm standing up and at the same time I start to feel hot and feverish, sounds go a little tinny - at this point I'm pretty sure my blood pressure has dropped a little. If I don't eat or drink something then, the symptoms lessen and I move on, but I feel scatterbrained, it's hard to concentrate, and I get all snappy, or I just get this sudden drowsiness. Next, if I still haven't eaten or drank anything, comes the cold, starting with my hands and feet, and I start to feel stomach cramps or nauseated like I might vomit.
Only once have I pushed it beyond that (for a religious 72 hour fast) and by the time I hit 48 hours I was shaking, I could barely pick up anything (and I'm pretty strong), and my arms all the way up to the elbows had taken on a blue-ish purple hue. *note I never took my blood sugar during this one, and since I have no desire to even attempt that again I'll probably never know those numbers*
But throughout the first few sets of symptoms I've taken my blood sugar, and I even tracked it for the course of a day, and it never really seems to stray beyond the normal range - though it tends to rise or fall within that range.
So I guess my question is, is it possible I have diabetes even though my blood sugar is normal?
4 AnswersDiabetes9 years agoHelp, I'm socially awkward?
I'm kind of a social idiot. I often have bad timing for teasing or sarcasm, and while I often say the same things as others, I'm told it comes across as bit***/rude instead of funny like everyone else. People think I'm being snappy when I'm not (I'm trying to joke to relieve tension), and I get accused of meaning something I didn't. But that side doesn't really come out until I get comfortable with whomever I'm with, usually I'm pretty shy at first with a few zingers and things go great, everyone likes me because I tend to be a people pleaser. Then, the second I get comfortable the bad side comes out I guess. The side that feels that if I bend over backwards to do something you want to do, you should bend over backwards to do something I want to do. And yeah, while I admit that sometimes instead of saying outright what's bothering me I'll just avoid the issue if I think it will cause a conflict or confrontation, it's because when I actually stand up for myself or address the issue I just get met with opposition and get bullied down or it changes the dynamic and people start pulling away.
I guess my question (after this long pity party or whatever) is how do I change so that I'm not quite so socially awkward? So I don't end up screwing up perfectly good friendships or acquaintances? Basically, what's that factor that I seem to be missing that allows me to have the good timing so that my sarcastic remarks are funny instead of *rude*? How does one affect their tone so that instead of snappiness being heard it's the joking tone I aimed for in the first place?
Oh and how do you regain someone's trust after having what they call a passive aggressive tantrum, so that every move you make after that isn't analyzed for some hidden meaning?

Just a little random question, whenever I put lotion on my feet it feels wonderful when I put pressure on my arches. Just wondering what connects where that would cause this?
2 AnswersPain & Pain Management1 decade agoLooking for an anime movie?
At least I think it was anime. Anyways it involved a girl who goes to this high school that gets attacked by these creatures, she runs to the roof where she gets transported to this other world and she's in command of these demon like beings (I think). Anyways I watched it a couple of years back so the details are a little hazy, just remembered that I liked it.
Oh it wasn't Inuyasha or Evangelon... It might have had continent in the title. I remember it was split up a bit and it would go to a credits screen with an old map of a continent........
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
1 AnswerMovies1 decade agoWhat is feminism to the y!a users?
Out of curiosity I looked up feminism and feminist, found out the definitions were about people who try to gain equal rights for females. Now personally, I don't see what's so wrong about that, and I don't see how that would automatically make someone an evil man-hater. To me that would just make someone an equal rights activist, so in turn I get really antsy about the questions demonizing feminists.
Oh and I don't hate men (in fact I enjoy them very much), I don't think men are "bad", and I do believe in equal rights for everybody. So why is this wrong?
8 AnswersGender Studies1 decade agoA question for people who post homework or term paper questions?
Okay, I see a lot of questions that just seem like they are homework or term paper questions. I just want to know how people process the answers to those questions? I mean do they just blindly follow the best sounding answer? Or do they list Yahoo! Answers as a reference? I mean how does it really work?
2 AnswersLanguages1 decade agowhy do I get insomnia when I'm on my period?
I suffer from a little insomnia throughout the month, but it always seems to intensify when I'm on my period. And it's weird, I'm tired but I just don't want to sleep, and when I try to force myself to sleep I wake up feeling worse than when I fell asleep.
5 AnswersWomen's Health1 decade agoCan coloring your hair cause it to fall out?
I admit it, I'm addicted to coloring my hair! I love putting a new color every month or so using a home hair color kit. I like the thrill of changing the color, never knowing exactly what the color will turn out as. I'm currently on a red kick, and it's soo much fun watching people do double takes. But I've taken a lot of ribbing of the years, which kind of annoys the heck out of me.
The biggest and most popular comment "All that coloring is going to cause your hair to fall out!" To me this is ridiculous, my hair is quite healthy, soft and smooth. I don't use heat or products, I let it air dry, and I even use a conditioning treatments.
So will it really cause my hair to fall out? (I don't think so, but nobody believes me)
Oh another one is that it'll cause cancer. That one I know is wrong, that's why they put stoppers on the developing cream.
7 AnswersHair1 decade agoGood suspense idea?
I was thinking of writing a story about a large group of people that get together every week to play the game Killer. It's a parlor game that you deal out cards to everyone and the person who gets the queen of hearts is the killer, the person with the jack of spades is the detective, and the person who gets the ace of diamonds is the master of ceremonies. The MOC then conducts the game-the killer calls them and lets them know who their victim is (one vic a week), then the group meets and the MOC announces who is "dead". The detective gets to ask the MOC (privately) who the killer is (yes or no question). Then the group discusses and argues about who the killer is and the MOC calls for a vote. If the winner of the vote isn't the killer then they are "dead", if they are then the game is over and a new one starts. Those that are "dead" can still attend the weekly meets, but have no vote.
Promblem is someone is now killing the previous "victims".
1 AnswerBooks & Authors1 decade agoDepression?
I think I might be Bipolar, but I'm seriously not sure, it may just be common depression. I have major moodswings, I get angry over trivial things and after that first initial flash of anger I get so sad I start crying. The sadness lasts anywhere from a few minutes to a month, and its a I don't know what I'm going to do, I'm worthless kind of sadness. Then I wake up and I'm happy again, even when I have stuff I know I should be worried about, like how I'm going to meet my bills, whether or not I can keep my car from being repo-ed, whether or not people like me. I don't get it. I can't seem to control the sadness or anger, and my emotions always feel so extreme. Any Ideas anyone?
Oh, a couple of years ago I was prescribed some antidepressants, but other than make me yawn a lot and question every single emotion I felt, they didn't do much.
6 AnswersPsychology1 decade agoShaving Scars?
I'm a caucasian female and my legs are covered with shaving scars. I'm pretty sure it is because I have a slight allergy to metal, and these things are little brown spots on my horribly pale legs. Does anyone know a good way to minimize these spots? It really, really effects my self esteem to the point where I refuse to wear anything but pants to keep my legs covered. So any thoughts on how to reduce the appearance of these things would be greatly appreciated, thanx.
5 AnswersOther - Skin & Body1 decade agoGood rpg type games for the PS2?
Can anybody suggest some good RPG type games for the PS2? I like the Final Fantasy series (and I've already played them), I also like the Xenosaga Series, plus games like Kingdom Hearts. Any suggestions anyone? It seems like all of the really cool games are coming out on PS3 and Xboxes and PCs these days.
7 AnswersVideo & Online Games1 decade agoDream Pains?
I have a really odd question, whenever I have a dream with body pain, the pain is still there when I wake up. Like one time I dreamt that I was being stabbed, and when I woke up the pain was still there but fading away. Another time I dreamed I was being bitten and when I woke up the pain was still there in the same spot I was bitten, but once again it faded away soon after I woke. And it's corresponding pain, like if I'm poked it feels like someone poked me when I wake up, if it's a muscle pain, it feels like muscle pain. All except the stabbing, the spot where I was stabbed the in dream generally burns. My question is if the dream is causing the pain or if the pain is causing the event in the dream?
4 AnswersDream Interpretation1 decade agoCar travel with cats?
I'm planning on moving to the west coast, and I'm going to drive from texas, (between 20-35 hrs) with my two cats. I was wondering if it would be better to put them both in a large breed dog carrier or keep them in seperate cat carriers? The cat carriers have just enough space for them to stand up, lay down, turn around, but aren't really very big, so I feel kind of bad for cramping them, but I'm afraid that a dog carrier may be too big, they may get tossed around more or something.
