  • What headphones should I get? Beats or Urbanears?

I'm looking at the Urbanears Plattan and the Beats Studio. I know you might be thinking "hello, big price difference. The more expensive ones are better." I get that. I've been able to demo the studios and loved them. However, every time I ask somebody about the plattans (no opportunity to demo) all I hear is glowing reviews about the sound quality. Are they really just great sound quality JUST because of the price? Are are they close to the studios? I recognize they don't have a lot of "doodads" that the studios have (eg noise cancellation). What I want is an amazing sound experience. Something that makes me hear my music in a whole new way (than my current skull candy headphones that were $60). And I listen to everything except country (e.g. Blues, classical, reggae, alternative, pop, techno), so I don't have to worry about just catering to music that is bass heavy.

  • Help! AP Chem question. When crystals of Ba(OH)2 8H2O are mixed with crystals of NH4SCN, at room temp in an...?

...open beaker, the mixture spontaneously liquefies, the temp drops dramatically, and the odor of ammonia is detected.

    Equation: Ba(OH)2*8H2O(s) +2NH4SCN(s) --> Ba^2+ (aq) + 2SCN^- (aq) + 2NH3(g) + 10H2O(l)

Observations: When you place the reaction beaker on a block of wet wood you observe the following reaction progresses: the water on the wood immediately freezes, the beaker adheres to the wood, the water inside the beaker, formed as the reaction proceeds, does not freeze even though the temp of the reaction mixture drops to -15 deg C.

Q1: using the information above, explain how enthalpy, the entropy, and free energy of this system change as the reaction occurs

Q2: why does the water outside the beaker freeze and that inside the beaker remain a liquid?

Q3: If you have 154 g of Ba(OH)2 *8H2O how many grams of water are contained in the hydrate?

Q4: If you did not know the formula for the hydrate, how would you determine its formula experimentally (you have common lab equipment available). Describe the experimental set up and how you would calculate the formula of the hydrate from your data.

Your help is very much appreciated!

  • What is the name of this movie? I've been trying to figure it out for a while now...?

I watched a movie a while ago on satellite, but I never found out what the movie is called. From what I remember, a criminal is asked by his crime boss (or just boss, can't remember) to go into this building and steal this cross. He and his russian team-mate try to pull off the heist, but ends up trapped in this building on the upper floors with a bunch of other people. There are traps everywhere, and lots of people die. There is a psycho viking guy running around killing people, and at the end of the movie we find out that one of the women there is his psycho sister. The two of them have been killing off everyone. The viking ends up dying in one of the traps, which is a bunch of spikes that spring up from a disco dance floor. When the protagonist gets out, he finds out that the boss is related to the brother and sister duo, and that he couldn't risk getting the cross because of how evil and crazy they are. Does anyone know what the movie is called...please help!

  • Help with chem unit conversion question?

Nanotechnology, the field of trying to build ultrasmall structures one atom at a time, has progressed in recent years. One potential application of nanotechnology is the construction of artificial cells. The simplest cells would probably mimic red blood cells, the body's oxygen transporters. For example, nanocontainers, perhaps constructed of carbon, could be pumped full of oxygen and injected into a person's bloodstream. If the person needed additional oxygen-due to a heart attack perhaps, or ror the purpose of space travel-these containers could slowly release oxygen into the blood, allowing tissues that would otherwise die to remain alive. Suppose that the nanocontainers were cubic and had an edge length of 25 nanometers.

    (a) What's the volume of one nanocontainer? (Ignore the thickness of the nanocontainer's wall) (In liters)

    (b) Suppose that each nanocontainers could contain pure oxygen pressurized to a density of 86 g/L. How many grams of oxygen could be contained by each nanocontainer?

(c)Normal air contains about 0.28 g of oxygen per liter. An average human inhales about 0.50 L of air per breath and takes about 20 breaths per minute. How many grams of oxygen does a human inhale per hour? (assume two significant figures)

    (d) What's the minimum number of nanocontainers that a person would need in their bloodstream to provide 1 hour's worth of oxygen?

    (e) What's the minimum volume occupied by the number of nanocontainers computed in part D?

    (f) Is such a volume feasible, given that total blood volume in an adult is about 5 liters?

  • What color duvet cover/coverlet/accent pillows go with white furniture?

I have french country white furniture. What colors should I have for my duvet cover, coverlet, and accent pillows? I have two sets of sheets, one that is a light gray and the other that is black and white. Not sure what fabric I want to get yet, and I believe I'm going to get just plain colors for duvet cover and coverlet (aka no patterns). I was entertaining black+white (with duvet cover being black, and coverlet being white, or duvet cover being white and coverlet being black), or a slate gray + either black or white, or a light blue + either black or white. Any others? Any of these particular combinations looking particularly good together/stunning?

  • Help with Riemann sums and def integrals problems?

I have exams coming up, and there are some questions from my homework that I am still not sure of...please help me anyway you can, whether by showing me the steps or just giving me some help to start me off.

For the first 3, I'm not sure how to even start these:

    1. (a) Find an upper bound for closed integral [1,6] for sqrt(x)*dx by calculating the upper Riemann sum, using the partition x0=1, x1=3, x2=6 of the interval [1,6].

    (b) Find a lower bound for closed integral [1,6] for sqrt(x)*dx by calculating the lower Riemann sum, using the partition x0=1, x1=3, x2=6 of the interval [1,6]

    (c) Use the Riemann sum corresponding to 5 inscribed rectangles of equal width to approximate the closed integral [1,3] (1/x)*dx.

    3. Evaluate the closed integral [0,8] for (x*sqrt(1+x))*dx. I know that you would let u=(1+x), and then du=1*dx, but I'm not sure what my new integral with "u" would look like.

    4. Evaluate the closed integral [-3,4] for abs(abs(x)-4)*dx

    6. Evaluate closed integral [1,8] for ((4*(x^(2/3)+14)^3)/cuberoot(x))*dx

    7. Calculate d/dt (closed integral [t^2, 2] for sqrt(x+1)*dx)

    8. Find the average value of f(x)=(x^2+6x-5) on [1,4]

  • Help with techniques of integration problems?

I need some help with techniques of integration before my exams coming up. There are some problems that I don't know, that I would appreciate either a step-by-step explanation of, or just something to get me on my way.

    1. Find the following indefinite integral:

integral for sin^3(x)*cos^3(x)*dx. I know what to do if the sin or cos is ^4 and ^3 (for example) or ^3 and ^4, but not when both are ^3 and ^3.

    2. (a) Find the value of def integral [(-1/2),(sqrt(3)/2)] (dx/sqrt(1-x^2))

    (b) def integral [((2*sqrt(3))/3),2] for (dx/(x*sqrt(x^2-1)))

    (c) def integral [-2,2*sqrt(3)] for (x^3*sqrt(x^2+4))*dx

    3. Evaluate def integral [2*sqrt(3),6] for ((x^3*dx)/(x^2-1)^(3/2))

    3. The equatorial radius of the earth is approximately 3960 miles. Suppose a wire is wrapped tightly around the earth at the equator. How much must this wire be lengthened if it is to be strung on poles 10 feet above the ground? (1 mile = 5290 feet).

    4. Evaluate. You won't need the limit laws.

    lim h-->0 (4root(3+h) - 2*(3+h) - 4root(3) + 6)/h

    7. A particle starts moving along the x-axis from the point (100, 0 ), (distance in meters) and with an initial velocity of 25 m/min. If the acceleration is given by the equation a(t)=13*sqrt(t), what is the equation of motion of the particle?

    8. A bocce ball is accidentally dropped from a building 98m high. How long does it take for the bocce ball to hit the ground, given that the acceleration due to gravity is 9.8 meters per second per second?

    28. Evaluate the following indefinite integrals:

    (c) integral 1/(sqrt(t)*(1-2*sqrt(t)))*dt

    (d) integral 1/e^t *dt

    32. Calculate the x-derivatives (derivatives w/ respect to x):

    (d) d/dx * x/(x^2-2)

    33. Find an anti-derivative of the function (t-1)^2/sqrt(t) that goes through the point (1,2)

    42. Evaluate the indefinite integral ((1+x^2)/(1-x^2)^3)*x*dx.
