I'm a retired lady of 69 years of age. I lived in Canada for 47 years and owned various homes there. Also did extensive renovation and added onto one house. I am an avid DIY-er and if I don't know the answer to a problem, I ask the 'experts' in the paint shops or B&Q. I'll pick the brains of a friendly joiner, etc. to find the best ways of fixing things.

  • Total irritation from Yahoo.com?

Is anyone else irritated by the intrusive 'Look here' yahoo suggestions at the end of their questions?? If so, is there a way to tell the folks at yahoo to stop leaving them?

  • Insulating Cavity for Through-wall AC?

I have a cavity for a through-the-wall AC but there is no AC unit installed. There is a metal 'plate' on the inside of the wall, and an outside vent. Should I insulate the cavity? If so, how to do this and with what? (Ontario location) AC unit will be installed in spring, but I think I need some kind of insulation for winter.

  • mouldy smell from kitchen cupboards?

I have a mouldy smell coming from under-counter cupboards in kitchen. One cupboard houses an electric water heater. The smell permeats the entire apartment, and my lungs and chest are now hurting. Could the smell be coming from the GSW John Wood Water Heater? I can smell the odour the minute I enter the apartment. If it's not the water heater, I will have to search for another source. Thank you.
