  • Slicone Sealant Questions?

I have a couple of questions about silicone sealant someone particuarly handy might be able to answer? I use it to make jewellery and phone cases that are sweet-themed and look like they have whipped cream on them, using the silicone sealant.

Is there a type or brand of silicone sealant that can be cleaned up with water (before it's dry)? I actually use acrylic sealant most of the time for my jewellery and phone cases because silicone is a ***** to clean up from hands, piping bags, etc. It would be great if there was a type that could be tooled down with water.

Is there a type or brand of silicone sealant that takes a long time to dry? I often stick things in the "whipped cream" sealant, like rhinestones, pearls, cabochons, etc. but by the time I've piped it all out, it has started to dry and form a skin over it. This makes adhering things to it harder and they sometimes drop off - something which, as a customer, you wouldn't be very happy to happen.

Therefore, if there were brands or type of silicone sealant that can be cleaned up with water before they dry and/or take a long time to form a skin on, that'd be great! Acrylic sealant does the job fine but silicone is a brighter white and has a more appealing, squishy texture. Thanks in advance!

  • Can I sell English CDs and magazines to my Japanese friend?

Hi all! I have a Japanese friend who has just come over to the UK last week, then went back to Japan yesterday. We were chatting and it turns out buying English language CDs and magazines is quite difficult and expensive. We kind of had an agreement where if I'd like any Japanese CDs or magazines, she'll buy them for me and send them off to me and I'll give her the money for them and vice versa.

But I have a boyfriend who sells alternative music and film merchandise, like CDs and clothing and he says there might be licensing issues? Like, a CD or magazine might only be licensed to be sold in the UK so I can't send it to Japan.

Is there anything like this I'd need to know, like legalities and licensing/copyright? I've tried looking on Google but to no avail. Thanks everyone!

  • Where can I play video games with people over Skype?

I want to play games with people over Skype, either video or phone call. I mean proper video games, like PC or PS, not the crappy little Skype games you can get. Is there a website I can go to organise Skype parties to play video games? I want to play survival horrors with other people so we can chat and scare each other. :)

  • How to Glue Brooch Pins to Plastic?

I'm in the series of making some brooches with some plastic shapes that are very smooth. I've glued the brooch pins using a 2 part epoxy resin but the pins come off with little force required. I think it has something to do with everything being so smooth, the adhesive has no friction to grip to. I've also tried "Fantastic Elastic Glue" because I thought maybe the rigidness of the epoxy resin is too much but it came off as well.

How can I glue the metal to the smooth plastic and make it stay on? File the plastic so it's slightly rough? Or maybe layer the glue with tissue or ribbon so it has something to bond to? Any suggestions?

  • Is the XBox 260 Elite 120gb console wireless for Xbox Live?

I bought my brother an XBox 360 Elite with 120gb memory for a gift a couple of years back. He wants XBox Live for it, which I was considering getting but he says you need a wireless adapter to put in the back of it to get the wi-fi connection?

I thought it would be wirelessly built in but am I wrong?

  • Kodak Easyshare M580 Lens Stuck?

I have a Kodak Easyshare M580 camera and whilst taking photos today I accidentally dropped it whilst it was on. I checked to see if it was okay and I thought it was. When I went to switch it off, the lens will only retract a little. When I switch it on again, it extends fully and I can still take photos but the lens is stuck whilst trying to retract when I switch it off.

How can I get the lens unstuck? I don't want to go inside my camera or take it apart or anything.

  • Alternative flat shoes help?

I'm looking for some new flat shoes as I can now officially say my Emily the Strange shoes are held together with staples and superglue now (not kidding).

I'm alternative and lovelovelove gothic culture and clothes. So looking for new flat shoes I want something like mary janes that are cheap, my price range is about £15. I'm looking on eBay as well but I can't think of what else to search for to find what I want. I've tried Demonia, Emily the Strange (they don't make my shoes anymore T_T) and T.U.K. so is there any other shoe brand or search criteria I can try like those?

Even if it's not on eBay, just give me suggestions! I'm a weird sort of alternative, I hate converse, sneakers, trainers and canvas "pump-style" plimsolls so please help me. :D Thanks! ^^

  • Is this Japanese translation right?

I was trying to help my friend translate a poem her friend wrote into Japanese. This is the original in English:

    Original:

I am Eve, that little Girl from a Nightmare

It is I that got tortured for love

It was I that got beaten for happiness

It is I that grew cold and cruel

Revenge was the only kind voice

This is her version in Japanese:

Watashi wa Eve desu, sore chisai shoujo akumu kara.

Sore ga watashi wa sore taishite ai kashaita.

Sore ga watashi wa sore taishite kofuku okurewotormashita.

Sore ga watashi wa sore kaze soshite jakan sodachiyuita

Rami shinsetsu na koe tatta no.

This is my translation in Japanese:

Watashi wa IIBU desu. Sore onnanoko akumu kara.

Sore ga watashi wa tataku no kofuku itashimashita.

Sore ga watashi wa kanki to gyakutai to seichou suru.

Fukushuu wa yasashii no koe deshita.

Is my translation right or close to being right? If so, could you help me tweak it to perfection? Even if you can only help with a sentence, that's fine.

  • How to use weibo.com to download stuff?

I am trying to download geisha clothing and make-up for Sims 3 and came across this lovely blog, http://blog.sina.com.cn/s/blog_63e832e00100l4sh.ht... on weibo.com.

When I wanted to download something, I hovered over the picture with my mouse and something came up in the bottom right hand corner. I took it I had to click that to download and then using my common sense, took it that I had to sign up to weibo.com. Using Google Translate I have managed to sign up and edit my profile to add details. Going back on the blog now and clicking on the same thing whilst signed in is not downloading the items either! It says something about sharing the items? Here is the link, it's in Chinese:

    http://blog.sina.com.cn/s/blog_63e832e00100l4sh.ht...

I hope someone who can read Chinese can tell me how to download these items - I don't know if I have to go onto a different downloading link or what. Please help me make geisha sims!

  • Dye black hair brown temporarily?

    Hi people,

I'd like to cosplay as a Little Sister from Bioshock but I have black hair. I want to temporarily dye it brown but I don't want to lighten it or bleach it or anything. Do you think a temporary brown hair spray would do the job?

Just like to have your opinions on it, thanks.

  • Lara Croft: Angel of Darkness PS2 problem?

I've been playing Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness on the PS2 and have gotten to the Louvre Storm Drains level. It's only the first part of the level, the bit where you have to get the heavy flow of water to stop/fill up a shallow pool to swim down. I've turned four valves and it should've filled the shallow pool. I even consulted a walkthrough and it says it should fill up. As I said I turned four valves; the one in the first little room where you can't turn it at first until you get a body upgrade, the one at the back of the fan room after you get the upgrade, another one in a small room and one right at the top of the building where you have to climb pipes, cross walkways, etc. Have I left something out? Or is there a dreaded bug because I've heard it's full of them. The Macintosh version has a bug in it so what can I do?

  • XBox 360 "chewing up games" problem?

I bought my brother an XBox 360 Elite in black second hand about a week ago when I was moving out and taking the PS3 along with me. I set it up in his room and everything worked fine. Now he has rang me in a tantrum saying it is "chewing up his games". When I finally got more out of him he said the XBox was making rumbling noises (I understand XBoxes make noise more than other games consoles) when he put a game in the disk drive, like it was chewing it up.

I thought he might have put the disk in the wrong way but he says he's not an idiot and that if he figured it out the first time he wouldn't forget which way it goes. He says that now he has taken the disk out it had a deep circle scratch in the disk and he's afraid to put anymore games in now.

I don't know whether the games still play or if the XBox menu comes up on the TV but I think he has hit the XBox (he has behavioural problems) and it has knocked the calibration or the disk reading abilities; something like that. When I bought the XBox the man said to carry it upright in order to not upset the disk drive and he runs a second hand shop so everything has to be checked and in good working order so it's not his fault. There are several things I think he may have done to knock it:

    - Gamer rage. Nuff said. Behavioural problems, frustrating games and delicate hardware do not mix.

    - He took it to our grandmothers a couple of days ago and may have knocked it then either on the way there or home. He says it has been doing it from Day 1 but this isn't true - I set it up and he would have said something to me or I would have certainly picked up on it. The fact he is lying like this says to me he has done something, regretted it and not told anyone, blaming it on me being a cheapskate and it being secondhand.

    - There is only one plug in his room that in order to set up the XBox, travels across his floor via the doorway. If he was opened the door, caught the lead and knocked the XBox over on his shelf then this may have done some damage.

So anyway, I was wondering if you guys knew what it was. I think it is like when you knock the laser reading of a CD player or the quartz out of a clock and he has knocked the calibration or disk reading abilities.

So what I am asking is what do you think is up with it and can we or a specialist fix it? Thanks

  • Can you shave in a bath with jets in?

My mum and her boyfriend have just had a bath with jacuzzi jets installed and my mum's boyfriend is insistant that neither of us can shave in it. What kind of a bath can you not shave in? Here's a £50, normal bath that you can shave in, pretty crappy but oh well, here's an amazing jacuzzi bath for £1300, oh, by the way, you can't shave in it. No way.

He thinks the hairs will get clogged up in the teeny jet holes and they won't work. Please tell me I can shave in my own bath, for God's sake?

  • Do you think dreadlocks would suit me?

    Hi,

I've been wanting dreadlocks for a little while and I know all the basic knowledge of them and stuff (like you don't have to cut them out when you want to get rid of them - you just need a comb, conditioner and about 4 hours) but I was just wondering if they would actually suit me? I would keep them either all black or have the majority of them black and some dyed light pink and/or blue.

Also, do you think I could keep my fringe as it is (not dreadlocked of course, natural) or would I grow it out and dreadlock it like the rest? Which would look better? Thanks!

  • What anime characters have wings (not feathered)?

I make fairy wings and am having a stall at my next convention and I was wondering if everyone could give me at least one anime character that has wings that aren't feathered like angel or bird wings. Fairy, insect, etc wings would be fine.

Everybody please pitch in as I'll be compiling a list of them all!

  • What anime character cosplays do you think would suit me?

Hi, I've been going to my local convention for two years now and have been going as my daily style (Lolita) to both of them. I want to cosplay this year but I want to do it good, none of this cosplay fail stuff.

A Photobucket link of me is available below so could you take a look at it and see what characters you think I look like or could cosplay successfully? I don't mind changing my hairstyle or wearing contacts (they are contacts I am wearing in my pic, my eyes are usually brown). Characters with my hair style would also be quite useful as well though.

    Thanks! xx

  • Can you Photoshop me to look like I have piercings?

Basically, I want to see what I'd look like with piercings before I get them. So I was wondering if you could Photoshop this photo to make me look like I've got different piercings?

That's where variety comes in, I want different piercings and mixes of them (like dimples, septum and snakebites for one, nose piercing and monroe in another, etc).

I think you should have a knowledge of different piercings to do this. Can you email me the pics or post them on here?

My email is anime_wisher@hotmail.co.uk Thanks xx

  • What is "a mesh" when downloading stuff for Sims 3?

I'm downloading free stuff (clothes, hair, furniture, etc) for the Sims 3 and some really nice stuff to download has requirements that tell me I need a "mesh" for the download to work. What's this? There's loads of links to download it from, but which is safe? Also, is a "mesh" safe for my computer at all?

  • What is that crazy movie with Lucy Liu in?

I was watching The Ramen Girl and an advert came up for a movie that looks really good. It's got Lucy Liu in and she's pretty crazy. She has a boyfriend but always plays jokes on him. One example is that he comes to her house and she's tied and up and screaming and this big burly guy comes out. It's all a hoax though and she frightens the guys to death.

She also had a fish tank instead of a TV and her boyfriend says:

Why don't you have a television?

    and she says:

Because my life is interesting enough. Or I make it interesting enough.

Or something like that. What film is this? Thanks, I hope someone knows. ^^
