  • What could this be- lower right back? Help?

Yesterday, I fell off my horse, and landed on my back. A part of my lower right back has been hurting since (not to mention everything is sore, but this part is exceptionally in pain.) It hurts to move because of this area. It isn't bruised, no red spots, just very tender.

I'm 5'1", btw. About 6-7 inches up from my tailbone and 3 inches from my spine, there is one spot that hurts even more than the rest of it. Is there anything located there that I may have injured? Or is that spot just more tender for whatever reason?

    Thanks for any thoughts/help.

  • Trying a horse tomorrow.. help!?

Hi there. I'm trying a horse tomorrow for the first time.

I've owned a horse and off-site leased a pony before; but we didn't go "shopping" or "looking"- I had already been riding them. I've never tried a horse out for myself (I helped a friend try a few ponies for her daughter, but it was hard because I had to think like a 'beginnger' and not like I do..)

So tomorrow we are going to look at a horse. My barn owner (who is extremely knowledgeable, straight to the point, and knows how I ride) is coming with me. My farrier (who is also extremely knowledgeable, doesn't BS around and she also knows how I ride) has told us about this horse.. And we call the owner and found out more about him.

He's a 7 year old QH.. Bay gelding (not like those two are big factors). He was once used for lessons (English/jumping) and his current owners have used him for trails. I'm not sure how long they have had him- but he hasn't been ridden in about 8 months (don't comment on this). This is all we know about him- but I'm sure my farrier wouldn't have told us about him if he was a pyscho horse.

So anyway. Not only for tomorrow, but for future tryings..

What should I ask the owner?

What should I look in the horse?

And another Q; if someone was trying your horse, and asked to take pictures, would you mind? I would like to take a few pictures to show my parents (as they are working and won't be able to make it) but I don't want to seem.. weird? haha.

    Thank you very much! :D

  • Where can I find a plain, cheap hoodie?

I'm looking for a plain cheap pull over hoodies (with the pouch pocket and hood). Color doesn't matter.

A more popular website/store is preferred.. Thanks in advanced.

Do you have to pay for it? A free one is the best (:

  • Trouble transferring video from camera to PC?

We recently purchased a new camera, a Sony Cyber-shot (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Sony+-+Cyber-shot+9.1-...

I can get pictures on the computer with no problem (I use the Windows Camera and Scanner Wiard) but for some reason, I cannot get the video off the camera onto the computer. This is extremly bothersome, and we want to delete the old stuff but cannot until we get the videos on the PC.

I've used the windows wizard with several other cameras without a problem, this is the first I've encountered, and I'm not sure how to go about transferring the video from our camera to the PC.

Thanks for any advice or hlep.

  • Home-made pirate costume?

I'm going trick or treating for the first time in four years this year. Last time I went, I was a pirate, and I can't exactly remember what I wore- but I know it was thrown together in 10 minutes.

But this year, I'm definately going, and I'd really like to start planning my costume. The girls I babysit, their mom and I think one of their little friends (maybe her family as well) and I are all going to be pirates!

But instead of buying a costume (which I may resort to, but I'd like not to) I want to create my own.

Have you done a home put together pirate costume? What did you use? Pictures? Thanks!

  • What do I need? (first horse!)?

So I found out yesterday that I'm getting my very first horse. I'm so excited, and though it won't be for at least another month, I want to start getting stuff, or at least knowing how much I'll end up needing to spend.

My trainer is giving us his blanket, girth and bridle (and I'm assuming his flymask and leadrope, I bought his halter).

I know I need grooming supplies, bathing supplies, what else should I get? And what grooming/bathing stuff should I get? I use QuicSilver on him, but is there any shampoo you like to use to get major dirt off? Please list anything and everything, even something you think I might not need, because who knows, I might need it (:

    Thanks!

ps; I don't want to sound like I have no idea what I'm doing, I know generally what people have.. I just have never owned a horse nor have I gone shopping for stuff more than stuff for my self or basic stuff (halters, shampoos, etc).

  • If I get a new iPod, will I be able to transfer all my songs from my old iPod?

I have close to 200 songs (I know it seems like nothing) on my 1GB, first gen. nano. Half of them are from CDs which wouldn't be a problem, but the other half are older songs which I no longer have the computer they were on. I don't want to lose any songs.

So my question is, if I were to buy a new iPod (an iPod touch), can I transfer my songs from my old nano?

And if I can, please tell me how?

    Thanks!

  • How can I make a jump more scary?

I'm not trying to scare the living daylights out of my pony, but I want her to experience more than just poles set up. Oxers don't bother her either (she likes them better!)

When we went to a show, flower boxes didn't phase her at all. But I would love to show her in jumpers and the things in jumpers are little more scary then in hunters.

I've gotten the suggestions to use saddle pads (or I think I might use towels, as they are more colorful and larger) to drape over the jumps and maybe as a "liver pool". And also buckets.

Common barn items would be better! Thanks!

I was wondering if anyone had pictures of him or knows where to find pictures of him?

  • Exercises to do to keep us busy?

I'm starting to ride my horse every day now, and it's making life a whole lot easier. But, we both seem to have short attention spans and going around in a circle kills us both, and doing little circles/changes of directions every few laps doesn't help very much.

Today I mixed things up and we did trot poles at two different jumps and I did a bunch of different things on the way to the trot poles (circles, direction changes, halts, etc) and he seemed to enjoy it, as well as I did. But that will get old rather quickly as well.

So, here's where I need help. I'm looking for exercises to do while we are riding to keep us busy and keep my horse guessing (he's a TB so I have to stay steps ahead of him). We can't canter or jump, so please try not to suggest an exercise that involves those two.

ps; We only have 4 poles to use, so something with a large number of poles will be out of the question.

    Thanks in advanced!

  • Two Questions about bathing & lunging?

    1) Both horses I ride dance around like crazy when being hosed off. While it's not dangerous or what not, it does get annoying.. One is a 17.2 TB and him moving gets very frustrating when I'm trying to hose him off.

Then the other, she is also ridden by a child and the child has to do everything herself- I'm afraid she might get hurt by the pony because she doesn't realize that the pony is dancing until she's already right next to her.

So, what should I do to try to get them from moving so much? I'm open to any suggestions. I'm usually the only one around, so something with the help of another person won't work to good.

    2) I'm fairly new to using German Martingales, and when I lunge my horse, at the canter he's a mess and throws his head down- which is the same as when we ride. The GM helps him from dropping it whilst riding, but I was wondering- can you lunge with a GM? I don't want to risk hurting him, so I've been lunging with out it.

    Thanks! (:

  • My dog is scared by the fireworks.?

My dog (a 85+ pound shepard) is really scared by the fireworks. He's almost shaking- I have a radio and TV both BLARING and all the lights are on.

Is there anything to make it better for him? We gave him a Benadryl about 2 hours ago.

  • What's the best way to get a grey clean?

I have a grey horse who enjoys standing in the middle of the paddock all day, sweating to no end, then rolling.. And greeting me with caked on dirt.. Every single day.

I'm at the point now where most days I give him a good brushing, even if I don't ride, and when I do ride, I'll give him a bath (with shampoo) but he's still disgusting.

I know I can't keep him from rolling, and I don't really have to get/keep him clean.. But, having a semi-grey horse instead of a dirt colored horse would be just delightful.

Any tips on how to get a grey clean (and keep it clean)?

  • Ways to bond with your horse?

Hi, I was wondering what activies that I could do with my horse to bond more with him and just have a little fun on the days I don't ride him.

Perferabbly, something that you don't have to buy (either I can make or a common item we might have in the barn already) such as the Parelli pishposh things.

    Thanks in advanced!

  • What to do with two girls over the summer?

I'm kid sitting a 7 and a 10 year old (girls) all summer long.

They have a lot of stuff (wii, lots of board games, movies, etc) but some of it gets old fast and we have almost two months of vacation that we need to do stuff.

We'll do crafts/bake stuff (any ideas?) maybe twice a week and go places (lunch, skating, movies, zoo, etc) once a week.

But what are some fun activies to do with them?

They have a few friends that come over occasionally, so if it needs more than 2/3 people, still suggest it.

    Thanks!!

I'm doing a project on The Beatles, and for part of the visual I want to write some on their top songs on the box.

In your opinion, what are The Beatles top 10 songs? (I know it's SO hard to pick!)

    Thanks.

  • My printer isn't printing the "cyan"?

    I have a Lexmark 1100 Series printer.

It isn't printing the blue (cyan) color, I did a test page just to make sure it wasn't the pictures I was printing, and only the magenta and yellow showed up.

It doesn't say the color cartridge is low on ink, so I'm at loss to what is wrong.

And it is important that the cyan works, because half the pictures have HUGE amounts of blue in it..

    Any suggestions??

  • Openfront vs Splint (boots)?

We have a pair of openfront for the horses at my barn, but we only have one pair and two horses, and sometimes both of us are riding at the same time, so my horse usually goes without the boots.

Today I bought a pair of nice splint boots. I know that open fronts are more for jumping, but will the splint boots still protect/support his tendons?

  • What color jacket and shirt?

Before I start showing this year, in the next few months, I want to trade in my old shirt and jacket for a new, better fitting one.

I know they have several color jackets- black, blue & green.

And even more shirt colors- orange, pink, white, purple, yellow, green, blue, etc.

I currently have a green jacket with a yellow shirt (also have a white shirt, but prefer the yellow one anyday)..

But, what colors are most popular?

And as odd as this sounds, what colors seem to win more?

Also- what jacket color/shirt color combos go good together?

This is for the hunter ring, bytheway.

    Thanks!
