  • Who is responsible for the vet bills if someone hired to walk your dog gets injured?

My neighbor hired my friends to walk her dog while she was at work (which is a long standing verbal agreement) and my idiot friends let the dog run out the door and they lost him. He got hit by a car in the freeway and the police took him to the hospital and he's probably going to live but the vet bills are going to be brutal (this is why pet insurance is totally worth it)

Are my friends legally responsible for some or all of the vet bill? The dog usually doesn't try to make a run for it but he's small and easily containable and I feel like they could have kept him from escaping or given better chase once he was out. I care about everyone involved in this situation and no one has much spare cash :(

    Thanks

Does anyone know how to detach this connector from the hose?

Is it possible to detach the metal part and put it on another hose? This is for an oxygen tank/anesthesia stand. I've already tried bending and squishing it with pliers to no avail. The hose is pinned by metal from the outside and inside. Thanks!

  • Can I vote in person if I opted to vote by mail?

I registered to vote by mail, and checked "vote by mail." Can I still vote at the election booth on election day? Thanks.

  • Why are my new pet rats scared?

Our 8 month old girl rat, Speckle has been pretty depressed lately, so we decided we owed her some company. We brought her to a humane society and found two year-old girlies that she got along with. They were perfectly friendly in the store, both with Speckle and us. The woman who was handling the adoption suggested them because they were the friendliest, and mentioned no previous issues. We brought them home and put them in a cage within Speckle's much larger cage. At this point they seemed fine, and were happily exploring their new home. When I reached in to take them out the next day, they shied away. On the couch, Speckle ran laps around them while they huddled in their house. The next day, when I reached in to get them, they bit me. When I try holding my finger outside the cage bars, one will still try to bite.

Two weeks have passed since we brought them home. There are small signs of improvement, but we are still unable to handle them. We put Speckle and the new rats in the same cage after a week and a half (they had cages next to each other the first few nights, then were further apart.) The rats seem perfectly comfortable around each other, and sleep cuddled together.

We have had rats for the past 3 years, and none have ever reacted like this before. Speckle, our last one adopted, was shy at first, but never to this extent.

As far as we know, the new rats have never been abused.

What do you think is making them act this way?

How do we get our sweet little ratties back? :(

  • Is there a good program for browsing video files?

I need to look through a few thousand video clips and need a way to do it fast while seeing what's actually in them. Is there a program that just loops parts of the video file as an icon, for example?

    Google has disappointed me.

Preferably this would be a free program.....
