  • Why isn't my bearded dragon eating?

I have only had my juvenile beardie for three days now and for the past two days she has eaten a healthy amount of crickets. This morning I put around six crickets into her tank and she didn't touch a single one of them. When I got home from school, all six crickets were still in the tank. She appears alert and otherwise healthy. She also has not eaten any of the greens I provided for her. I have refreshed the greens daily.

  • Why wasn't this girl charged with animal cruelty?

    http://finance.yahoo.com/news/Tiny-turtle-causes-t...

I just read this article and am extremely upset. Aren't there laws against throwing your pets away? If not, why not? Or do people just not care since it's not a cat or a dog?

  • Bad Romance lyrics, freak or free?

Is it, "Work it I'm a freak ***** baby," or "Free *****, baby?"

I think it's freak. My friend disagrees. Freak makes more sense. Considering it's Gaga.

  • How to start a spontaneous conversation with an attractive stranger?

My friend really wants to talk to this rather attractive guy who goes to our school. They've never actually talked before, but my friend sees him all the time in the hallway and knows him by name. How can he approach him and start a conversation without seeming creepy or annoying?

  • Why do people seem to hold such disregard for the proper use of the english language?

I'm fourteen, and I've found that I use better grammar, punctuation, and spelling than many of the adults and other teens I've interacted with in the online world. And I don't know why, but it bugs the hell out of me. I cringe every time I see a misuse of the word "your" or "you're." I don't understand how one can just flit through life, remaining ignorant of the basic principles of his or her own language. It seems like a pretty important thing to be aware of.

Maybe this is more of a rant than a question, but I still want answers.

  • Pro-gay t-shirts at school?

I live in a rather small southern town, in which gays are not exactly made to feel welcome. My pansexual friend and I are planning on buying a couple of pro-gay shirts and wearing them to school, his reading, "Gay is the new black," and mine, "Not gay... but supportive."

I have a feeling that doing so may anger some of the staff at our small-minded school.

However, there is no rule against wearing clothes expressing one's personal beliefs, and students often wear t-shirts with bible quotes and messages about "Jesus, our Savior!" and the like.

Is there any logical reason for us to be disciplined or told not to wear these shirts? And if we are, how could we kindly tell the authority figures at our high school to "read the rules," without sounding like bratty teens trying to start ****?

  • How much time must pass between consuming two lays potato chips for it to be considered eating just one?

Like, if I ate just one yesterday, and then some more today, have I succeeded in "eating just one," or does my chip from yesterday carry over to today?

If that's the case, then the slogan, "Betcha can't eat just one," sounds pretty ridiculous, because of course no one's gonna eat just one Lays potato chip in their whole life.

  • Adam Lambert, bottom two. Am I the only one not buying it?

Like seriously. He's the most popular contestant on the show. He's the best singer. He's the best performer. He has the most personality, not to mention the biggest fan base. None of these are opinions. They are facts. Yet tonight, he was in the bottom two.

Lately, it seems like everyone's been saying the same thing: "I might as well just not watch the show anymore-- I know Adam's going to win." And you can see how this would anger Fox.

Which leaves me with the theory that this was all set up for ratings, or to mix things up, or whatever their reasoning is.

Am I just crazy, or does anyone else get that feeling?

  • I have two thumbs. Do you have two thumbs? Why can't we give an answer two thumbs up or down?

Or if we're feeling crazy, even one up and one down!

  • I really want to taste the rainbow, but I can't. Why not?

Every time I eat skittles, I get slapped in the face with the hypocrisy of it all. Every skittles advertisement I've ever seen commands consumers to "taste the rainbow," but how can I when there is neither a blue nor an indigo skittle? It's insulting.

I've even called the number on the back of a skittles bag, stating my outrage. The confused-sounding lady who answered the phone merely assured me that she would forward the question to her "higher-ups." But I know I'm never going to receive an answer because she did not request my phone number.

Does anyone here have an explanation? Because I will not be able to eat another bag of skittles until this burning question is answered.

  • When insects inhale rubbing alcohol, do they get high off of it?

So I'm doing this project for Biology, and I basically have to collect 20 different insects, murder them via rubbing alcohol on a cotton ball, and pin them to a styrofoam board. I'm really against hurting animals in any way, and euthanizing my first bumblebee today just broke my heart. I'd like to think that when the poor thing inhales the alcohol, he goes on some crazy acid-trip-like thing, or is at least feeling somewhat pleasant when he dies. Can anyone tell me whether or not this is the case?

    Thanks.

  • Should I join a nudist colony?

Well, this is QUITE a long story.

It was my first day of ninth grade in a small town I would rather not name. The weather outside was sunny and warm and I was feeling just fantastic. I didn't know anyone, but I was feeling quite optimistic, due in part to the aforementioned weather. I sat down in my first period class in a random seat, not knowing that the desk I chose would change my life forever. After the late bell rang, a troublesome-looking girl trudged into the classroom and took the only empty seat-- the one right next to me. She made some disgruntled comment about the "unbearably pleasant" weather and then proceeded to fall asleep at her desk. Her constantly negative attitude was strangely appealing to me. It contrasted with my bright outlook on life in a way that was both depressing and refreshing.

Over the next few months, we became friends. A closer pair you could never find. Everything was just fine and dandy, until that day. I was over at her house, and as I recall we were watching Rocky Horror. The sight of singing, dancing transexuals must have struck something deep inside my dark friend, and she revealed to me a side of her even I never knew existed. She wanted to join a nudist colony. And she wanted me to join her.

And now I stand at a crossroads, unable to decide what is right and what is wrong. I've never connected to someone quite like I have with this girl, and I can't imagine that it would be all that horrible as long as she were there. On the other hand, I would be abandoning all that I know to be right, all that is accepted in everyday society. It is certainly not an easy decision. So I ask for your advice, not with the assumption that you have the right answer, (I'm not even sure that there is a right answer) but with the hope that you will help me come to realize what I truly want.

    Thank you.

  • Does anyone know what this is?

A while back, I found this black measuring tape- like thing lying on the cafeteria floor. I rolled it out to find that it measured not in inches, but in dollars, starting with $1 at the top and going down to $12. On both ends, it says "STOP" and at the very bottom it says 34. It's been bothering the hell out of my ever since. Anyone know what it is?

  • Would this be a fact or an opinion?

Is the statement, "My favorite color is purple," a fact or opinion? I'm under the impression that it would be a fact about the individual. On the other hand, saying, "Purple is the best color," would be an opinion.

    Is this correct?

  • Science fair project ideas?

I'm in 9th grade and need an idea for my science fair project by tomorrow. I don't have to have the project done by tomorrow, just the topic.

Anyway, it has to be based on testing a hypothesis. You know, "how does this variable affect this variable" and such. I'd like it to be something that's not too elementary, but also not too complicated.

The only idea I've come up with so far is "is chemical or organic fertilizer more effective on the growth of plants?" Is that too elementary?

If you have any ideas, please share!

  • I know that XOXO means hugs and kisses, but which one is the hug and which is the kiss?

My friends and I got in yet another meaningless argument about this earlier this week. We even asked some of the teachers. No one seemed to know for sure.

For some reason, it just seems better for the X to be the kiss and the O to be the hug, but a few of my friends argued that the opposite made more sense. What do you think?
