Cat owners! Can you please tell me how to get strong cat urine odors out of my carpet?
I'm a college student who lives in an apartment that does not allow pets. Due to a series of events, I ended up having to take in my brother's cat for two months. During those two months the cat would constantly pee near the entryway.
I've cleaned the area many times, both while the cat was here and after. I even hired a professional carpet cleaner. It's a lot better but if you put your nose to the carpet and sniff it you can still smell the cat pee odor in certain places.
How can I get rid of this odor effectively? Replacing the carpet is not an option because then my landlord would find out that I violated my lease by owning a cat. Also, the smell is just getting on my nerves.
Note: My roommate went over the area a few times with a steam cleaner. I learned later that this can help set the smell. Just thought I'd mention this.
4 AnswersCats6 years agoHow can I teach my dog to walk again?
My dog is 15 years old and is a golden retriever mix. About two weeks ago she suddenly got an infection on her toe. The vet said amputation of the toe was the best option. The day of the amputation coincided with a family trip that we had been planning, so she had to stay at the vet's office for five days, much longer than we had originally anticipated.
When we returned to pick her up, she looked much thinner and haggard. The vet reported to us that he had seen her walking around the first two days after her surgery, but she refused to move the last three days. After weighing her, it was shown that she had gone from 55.6 pounds to 53.4 pounds in the span of the time that we had left her. She also had matted fur and bed sores on one side of her. (We brushed out the mats and the bed sores are healing)
She is much happier now that she is home and has shown some improvement, but I suspect she was depressed at the vet's, causing her downgrade in health. We have tried many things to help her walk (which the vet approved of): patterning her legs, walking her with slings, having her doggy paddle at the pool, but she still can’t walk on her own! How can I get her to walk again?
Notes: She is a bit arthritic in her old age. She also has kidney problems. We have her on Royal Canin Renal LP modified wet dog food and giver her subcutaneous treatments twice a week. Sometimes she doesn’t like her dog food, but will eat it if we add things like chicken, peanut butter, or bread pieces. Still loves treats.
1 AnswerDogs8 years agoDoes anyone have advice for running an orchestra?
Hello! I'm in high school and I run the Orchestra Club at my school (since the class for Orchestra was terminated). We don't have the same time or resources that an official class does, so we meet only once a week for an hour and a half. Also, it is difficult to motivate people since they are not rewarded with a grade. With this in mind, do you have any advice on how to run an orchestra efficiently while encouraging people to practice and improve?
I chose very difficult music for this semester, so I really need the orchestra to be on the ball!
1 AnswerPerforming Arts8 years agoDoes anyone know of a string orchestra arrangement for "The Devil Went Down to Georgia"?
I run the Orchestra Club at my school and would like to play this piece next semester but the only arrangements I can find are for either solo violin or piano! I would like the solo violin with parts included for cellos, piano, etc. in the background so the whole orchestra can play. I don't care if the arrangement costs money or not.

6 AnswersVideo & Online Games8 years agoWhere should I put the dynamics in a Baroque piece?
I run the Orchestra Club at my school and I chose a piece by Johann Rosenmuller for the orchestra to play. It is the first movement of one of fifty dances published by Rosenmuller in 1645. Right now my orchestra is playing the whole piece with one dynamic (sounds kind of flat and boring this way) and I want to add dynamics but I'm not sure where to put them. I've read about Baroque "terraced dynamics" but I'm not sure where I would put the fortes, pianos, etc. Should I make moving lines louder? Quiet? Should I get louder as the pitch gets higher? I'm just not sure.
1 AnswerPerforming Arts8 years agoAnyone here in an orchestra and know of any good exercises or warm ups?
The orchestra class at my school got cut. :( We now have an orchestra club that is run by me. Mostly for warm ups, I have the orchestra do scales, but I would like to start introducing aspects into the warm up that will improve technique. I have tried to write my own but can't think of anything effective. Specifically, I've been looking for exercises that improve listening, counting, and sight reading skills, but any warm up that you can suggest would be helpful.
Thanks!

1 AnswerPerforming Arts9 years agoWhen is it legal for a teacher to kick a student out of a class?
I was getting ready to enroll in Drumline at my school. My band director said if our parents didn't show up to the parent meeting than we couldn't be in it. My mom forgot to show up even though I called her literally six times to remind her. My band director said I couldn't be in it. Is that legal? Don't I have a right to take the class because its an option for anyone as an extracurricular?

4 AnswersOther - Society & Culture10 years agoHow often do you hang out with your friends?
I mean how often do you invite them over and how often do they invite you over or how often do you just go places together. Is it always with just one friend mostly or with various ones? I wouldn't know because my best friend is my sister so I never really invite people over. I'm just curious.
4 AnswersFriends1 decade agoWhich numbers do you consider as females and which do you think are males?
I've always classified some numbers as male and female in my mind. For me it's
Female: 23589
Male:145670
(Five is both to me)
Which ones do you choose and why?
3 AnswersOther - Society & Culture1 decade agoWhy does society force us to dislike classical music?
My teacher wanted to play classical music one day and 90% the class said things like "Ugh! No! I hate that stuff!". I'm betting five bucks that you hate classical music too. Why?
7 AnswersClassical1 decade agoDoes sexism come hand to hand with religiousness or are sexist people just jerks?
Don't get me wrong. I believe in God or something like that more or less. But I also believe in evolution at the same time. I just think that sexism is really annoying and fault of humanity that is once again holding us back from our true potential (which, by the way, will never be reached at this rate)
