Did you find the body of someone you loved who committed suicide?
If so, how have you dealt with the memory. This has happened to me twice. Over 30 years ago my first husband shot himself a few feet away. Now, less than a month ago, I found my only son's body after self-strangulation.
3 AnswersMental Health1 decade agoCatholics, why would a widowed Catholic decide to live with her second "husband" without marrying-for 20 years?
She is over 90 and has "lived in sin" for over twenty years. She no longer attends the Catholic Church, but is active in the Unity Church. I know her children are very conservative Catholics. Does this have anything to do with the Catholic view of the afterlife?
11 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhat out-of-date(expired) foods are safe?
I visited a discounted food mart with out-of-date products. I thought the chocolate and tea,if less than six months expired, would be fine, but I was wary of other produce.
3 AnswersOther - Food & Drink1 decade agoShould I write a long letter to be read after my death-to someone who wouldn't read it now?
I keep composing it in my head anyway.
20 AnswersSenior Citizens1 decade agoWere you left a letter to be read after a death?
Have you written a letter(s) to be read after your death?
Would you like to have received such a letter?
3 AnswersPhilosophy1 decade agoHave you ever learned that a media story which you believed was actually false?
http://books.google.com/books?id=RxBJC2U5oRoC&pg=P... Only today did I learn that the rumor of Dinah Shore having a black child was false. I had believed it for forty years!
17 AnswersSenior Citizens1 decade agoWould a Rastaferian be drawn to Mormonism or vice-versa?
After all, they have a lot in common. Both are recent New World offshoots of Christianity. I would think that in many ways they would appeal to the same kinds of people. Is that race-thing the big separator?
4 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoDid your opinion of President Truman change over the years?
Perhaps you watched the PBS program on Truman over the weekend. I was struck by the fact that Truman's popularity was less than Nixon's on the day he left office. Yet over the years his popularity rose. Did this happen to you? If so, why? (He was president when I was born.)

3 AnswersElections1 decade agoHave you ever had a vivid dream involving your Yahoo!Answers contacts?
Last night I dreamt that two of my contacts, who have nothing in common but an interest in a category, were actually married and living a few miles away! I know this indicates I am spending too much time on Yahoo!Answers and need to get a real life. My second question is: Can we get to "know" virtual people better than real acquaintances?

2 AnswersPsychology1 decade agoDo you support the idea that demographic groups have begun to function like tribes or cultures?
http://www.iht.com/articles/2008/04/29/opinion/edb...
This is the opinion in David Brooks' NYTimes article "Demography Is King." Does social identity trump our ideology? In what ways are our demographic allegiances the new cultures or tribes?
4 AnswersAnthropology1 decade agoWhy are veterans twice as likely to commit suicide?
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/04/22/us/22suicide.htm...
I just finished the article above about veteran suicide prevention networks. My question is why are veterans, even years later, more likely to commit suicide. Is it because they've lost their faith because of what they've seen? Is it because of what they themselves have had to do? Is it because of the horrible flashbacks?
23 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoIs it a moral failing to be bitter?
This is in response to Barrack Obama's use of that word. Don't people have a right to be sad and bitter sometimes?
8 AnswersPhilosophy1 decade agoWhich illusion do you miss most?
Also, do you think illusions are generally beneficial or harmful?
2 AnswersPhilosophy1 decade agoCan you support the beliefs of the Eldorado, Texas sect?
Do they have a right to practice their religion (an unrecognized Mormon sect)-the forced marriage of girls between 13 and 14 in a polygamous relationship? Isn't this just a harem?
9 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoNonreligious: Do you care what happens to your ashes?
If so, why? I'm an agnostic and told my children to spread my ashes in a forest or under a rosebush. I know this is irrational; perhaps I'm just being practical. It's a cheap way to get rid of them.
