5 AnswersPolls & Surveys1 decade agoSo if vampires have no souls?
and souls are supposedly what makes you good, or able to love, have compassion and empathy, how come vampires always seem to fall in love, show compassion and empathy. Also, I know that it's fiction and writers need to play lose with rules to work some stories but why not just do away with the "lack of soul" aspect of vampirism?
Just a few examples:
In the show Buffy: TVS the character Spike decides to fight to acquire a soul because he's already in love with Buffy.
In Interview With A Vampire Louis de Pointe du Lac's character is filled with remorse, love and empathy.
Forever Knight (precursor to Angel and Moonlight and other vampire "detective" shows) the character's a good guy who solves crimes and helps people.
30 Days of Night the main character becomes a vampire and still protects those he love.
And the list can go on and on
13 AnswersMythology & Folklore1 decade agoWhy is America considered to be so culturally insensitive?
America has a turmultuous history when it comes to race relations, but what I'm talking about is this very current perception of America. This isn't to say that America doesn't have it's boorish side, or a racist/prejudice side as a black man I'm very aware of this but I also am aware of the fact other countries have their fair share of these problems as well.
America has it's problems with immigration or rather have quite a problem with an anti-immigration sentiment espescially when it comes to Latinos (mainly Mexican migrants). Other countries have this situation also, take Greece for example, just not too recently hundreds of immigrants protested against mounting discrimination and a lack of equal rights in Athens, Greece won't even offer citizenship to children born there of immigrant parents.
Austalia had there Cronulla riots in 2005 that were racially motivated. I've never been to Australia so I can't comment on the extent of cultural insensitivity toward Asians and those of Middle Eastern decent, all I can say is it's there and those incidents aren't the only evidence of it's existence.
In Africa you cultural genocides, we've had that in the US yes but not in a 100 years, they've had them within the last two decades.
Hell, even Amsterdam has it's insensitive Christmas parade traditionshttp://selectism.com/columns/tonygervino/files/200... (If the link didn't work just Google "Black Pete" or "Zwarte Piet"
As far as ignorance to other countries, cultures or customs, there's plenty of that in other countries, America may be a little more ignorant to others than European countries but look at the geography, we're seperated from Europe by an ocean whereas Europe itself is a grouping of many different countries together, we don't have that here.
8 AnswersOther - Society & Culture1 decade agoHow can I search for acting auditions?
I'm not an actor, don't plan on really pursuing it as a real career either, I'm just interested in auditioning and maybe getting some extra work, somethig very small. My main goal is to be a zombie at some point. I don't want to join an angency or get an agent like I said acting isn't a primary goal of mine so with that in mind how do I look for acting gigs on my own and find out about casting calls?

2 AnswersDrama1 decade agoScott Pilgrim fans, got a question. To buy or not to buy?
I've been wanting to read Scott Pilgrim for a couple years now, but it always seems a little too hipster-ish for me to get into, but I hear about these video game style fights and now I see clips from the trailer too and this is pumping me up. Is it worth the 12 bucks to someone who isn't a hipster?
2 AnswersComics & Animation1 decade agoSo Jesus committed suicide?
This is just how I interpreted what I've been told, if you care to clarify things for me, that'd be great.
-He already knows he's going to die, he even through a dinner party to announce it.
-He allowed himself to be taken, he could've run off before they came for him.
-From what I've heard he wasn't exactly killed but gave up the ghost, which means he allowed himself to die.
Add this together and to me it amounts to suicide by cop but instead of waving a gun at a group of policemen in hopes they actually kill you, Jesus knew he'd be killed. Also yes this was his purpose, what he was put on this Earth by God to do, but all that means is God put him on Earth to commit suicide by Roman.
Also the he is still alive concept which would render this question moot doesn't count because in that case anyone who dies having an immortal soul is still alive.
12 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhat would happen if the Earth's rotation sped up?
I mean sped up to the point days would be noticably shorter to the average person
Would it effect winds, gravity?
Would the effects be devistating or no big deal?
This information would really help me out.

1 AnswerComics & Animation1 decade agoLost fans, what's up with all the Across the Sea hating?
I don't get it, people are always asking for answers and this episode supplied a lot of them.
1. How Jacob and MIB got to the island and what their relationship is.
2. Where the well or at least well 1.0 and the donkey wheel came from.
3. How Jacob became immortal and how MIB became Smokey.
4. What the electromagnetic light is
5. Who Adam and Eve were.
6. Why MIB is so pissed.
7. Why Jacob is so obsessed with spreading this idea of blind faith.
THE REST IS MY OPINION AND NOT A MUST-READ TO ANSWER THE QUESTION
Yes the acting feels off at first and yes they didn't have to switch from Latin to English but the show was meant to feel like a story book's tale, like a fabl, which the show always had elements of.
Yes, I know so many are upset about the mythical/magical nature of this episode but as we learn more and more in real life magic is just science beyond our understanding and MIB and his people were trying to understand it.
Also, I know Jacob fans may be dissappointed in his origin but did you really think he was a good guy, he had Ben kill off the Dharma Initiative, he wanted Ben to kill Russo's baby from what we've been told and because Ben believed so truly he did much of this and then afrer Ben did all this Jacob still had the nerve to judge and dismiss him.

7 AnswersComics & Animation1 decade agoA question to white people (seriously, not trying to troll)?
I just wanted to know why some (I said SOME) white people feel as though they can't watch certain predominantly black shows or movies. Granted, a lot of the bleck etertainment that's out there is just awful but I've had experiences where a white person has honestly said they find something funny or good but they feel uncomfortable watching it because they think it's not for them, like it's strictly a black thing. For example The Boondocks (tv show) These shows and movies don't come with "Coloreds only" signs on themit's just entertainment like blacks watch predominantly white shows and movies.

Just asking when you watch shows or read books with villians who do this, do you find it annoying or as though it takes you out of the story? Or do you like that story telling device?
