  • Are parachutes legal on street cars?

    Scenario:

You own a car and have it licensed and insured to drive on the street. You also race it on the drag strip and have it equipped with a parachute for braking,

    Questions:

    1. Is it legal to have the chute on the car while driving it on the street?

    2. If so, is it legal to deploy the chute on a public street?

  • Tenting vs. non-tenting termite treatment.?

I have seen advertising about a termite treatment that doesn't require tenting or evacuating. Is it as effective as tenting? I have discovered some termite fragg inside the house where the aluminum porch connects to the wood roof structure of our house so treatment is mandatory but I'm not sure how well the non-tent service works. Any drawbacks? We really don't want to evacuate because we have 2 dogs.

  • I started a business in mid 2011 and I had a loss of approx. $10k. per sched. 1040 C.?

Which IRS form do I fill out to carry over the loss to next year? I tried 1045 but it seems to lend itself more to gains or losses from fire, etc.One place says that I don't need to include the schedule while one says to send it and another said I didn't even need to fill it out, just show the loss on my 1040. All very confusing.

I had zero income so I paid no taxes and therefore couldn't use the standard deductions but I will probably need the tax credit this year and next year if possible. Any ideas?

  • Buick parts list or assembly manual?

I have a 1987 Buick Riviera that I want to disassemble to sell the parts. Where can I find the OEM parts list and/or GM assembly manual (or cd) to get the OEM part numbers so that a buyer can puchase them for crossover makes and models? i.e. Many of these parts will also fit other years and makes.

  • Setting up Nationwide Distributors/Installers?

I have a patented storm/security panel that I would like to sell to the coastline areas of the U.S. Each panel is custom made for each window and door of a building so it will require field measurements and semi-skilled labor to install (although homeowner installation is possible). As the manufacturer, what is the standard mark-up to the distributor/installer (D/I) for this type of product, keeping in mind that they will also make money from the installation? In other words, what is the percentage of mark-up from the manufacturer (me) to the D/I and what is the "usual and customary" percentage that makes it worth the D/I's time to sell it? Would I be better off setting up a nationwide network of these D/Is by direct marketing to existing door/window people or should I advertise for new distributor opportunities? Also, I am on a limited budget and I was thinking of enlisting the services of a college student to take on this as a class project. Any suggestions as to which college course students to target? Needless to say, I have a thousand MORE questions!! Would it be better to ask this question in a different category?

  • Ethernet Card Replacement?

My computer experienced a power surge during a lightning storm and knocked out the ethernet card that connects it to Roadrunner cable. It was a Linksys LNE100TX. Do I replace it with any equal unit or is there something better? My Emachines T2984 Pentium Celeron CPU is labelled "10/100 for connectivity to broadband cable/DSL" (it's about 5 years old).

  • Next to last ? in Slumdog Millionaire....?

The next to last question in the movie had Jamal's answer to the record holding cricketeer as D. Jack Hobbs. Did anyone catch the mistake about Jack Hobbs and Ricky Ponting? B. Ricky Ponting was the famous cricketeer NOT D. Jack Hobbs the footballer as shown on the TV contest. Jamal should never had a chance to answer the final question and should have lost everything.

Sir John Berry Hobbs was the famous cricketeer and was known casually as "Jack" but that wasn't his given name. OK, OK....I'm splitting hairs.

  • Plumbing ? Which electric water pump will work?

I purchased a propane tankless hot water heater for our cabin. I want to use an above ground cistern for my water source, however when I read the instructions, I found out that the unit has an inlet valve that requires a minimum of 30 psi to operate. I am looking for a small 110v centrifugal pump to create the required pressure, but I don't know which one will get it done. Most of the pumps are rated in GPH and not psi. My water inlet is 1/2". Can I use a submersible or will I need a remote unit - say 1/2 hp, 1" output @ 330 GPH and use it to create more pressure when I reduce it to 1/2"?
