  • What is a good dog foe me?

Here are the main things I want from a dog: likes water, VERY protective (I want to train him or her in schutzund) and friendly. I am having troubles finding a breed with the likes water thing that is also protective. So far I have found the german shorthair pointer and the weimeraner. I sadly cannot have a pitbull in my area:(. any others?

  • What kind of dog should I get?

Well, my elderly aussie shepherd recently passed away, and i want another dog. I want preferably a medium to large sized dog, that is pretty east to train (doesn't have to be really easy, just like, trainable), had medium to long hair, and has lots of energy. I also want a more popular dog, one that I don't have to ship from like halfway around the world. I am a nature lover, and I would like to take the dog on hikes, bike rides, and walks with me, not short ones, I sometimes go up to like eight miles. I also like dogs that enjoy water, but that is optional. I really want an APBT, but the area in which I live does not allow them. :( I have been thinking about, a border collie, Aussie cattle dog, aussie shepherd, GSD, rough collie, or a mix of any of these breeds. I would prefer not to have hunting dogs, because I owned quite a few of them in my childhood (pointers, spaniels, hounds, retrievers etc.) and they are just not what I am looking for. Thanks!

  • Sheep breeds as pets?

We are thinking about getting two little registered shetland ewe's. We have had sheep before, (hamp/dorset) so we are pretty experienced. We have 10 acred of land, and about 65 percent of it is wooded. We thought we could fence in a little part of the wooded area and all of the cleared land, for the two sheep. The sheep would be used for pets, and showing at the local fair. Is this a reasonable breed? do you recommend any other breed? I do know that sheep need companions, which is why we are getting two.

What do you think? any sheep tips?

  • question about fetch...?

I live in the country on a hill. The only flat land I have (with no trees) to play fetch with my dog on is on a pretty steep hill. Will it hurt his joints if I play fetch with him there? Thanks!
