  • Cat has a bunch of flaky skin patches on her back?

    Hello.

My indoor cat has a lot of dry, flaky patches of skin on her back. Some are getting to the point where her hair is coming off with them.

She has always had dandruff issues and has occasionally had a couple of these flaky patches, but never as many as she has now, and never to this extent. I should add that she never gets outside and she is overweight, but I'm just not sure.

Could it simply be because she is overweight and therefore unable to groom herself, or should I be worried? It started out a week or two ago as a couple, but it has gotten worse.

    Thanks

  • Need help on an Astronomy calculation?

I've asked this a couple times and received a variety of answers, but I was wondering if anyone can explain to me how I would find the answer to this problem.

The TPF (Terrestrial Planet Finder) has finally been launched and one of its first discoveries is ozone in the atmosphere of an Earth sized planet orbiting the nearby star Alpha Centauri A. Ozone is strong evidence of the presence of an oxygen bearing atmosphere, and likely photosynthesis based life. You decide to launch an unmanned probe to investigate this planet. In Earth’s orbit but away from the Earth, you assemble a probe with a nuclear powered ion drive system. The entire vehicle has a mass of 20 metric tons, 19 metric tons of which is fuel (xenon gas) for the ion drive, which has a specific impulse of 10,000 seconds. Assume that you start with your orbital velocity around the Sun and use the ion drive to accelerate until you used your entire fuel supply.

Calculate your flight time to the Alpha Centauri A system.

Please please please and thank you!

  • Homework Help: Comets passing perihelion?

I'm not asking to be given the answers, but if you could explain how to do this (since my teacher never did) I would really appreciate it. This is the question:

This year (2013), a newly discovered comet passes perihelion. The elements of its orbit on the in-bound trajectory were: a = 275 AU, e = 0.998, and i = 89°. [Show your work.]

    A) What year did this comet last pass perihelion?

    B) What famous structure was completed within a few years of the comet’s previous perihelion passage?

    C) How close did the comet get to the Sun?

We honestly did not discuss this in class. Any help you can give me is appreciated!

    Thanks!

  • Poll: Is it ever worth it to go to college?

I just found out that my application into my program probably won't even be able to go in this semester. I had my three years planned out, and now it's all messed up. I'm really upset. Apparently, my advisor didn't figure this out before I did all the work to get into the program. I don't know what to do.

It's so expensive, and people without a college education can do very well and get a solid job.

Do you think it's worth it these days?

    Have a good night!

  • How to start a letter of introduction for college?

I have to write a letter of introduction to get into the program I want next semester. I'm having a little bit of a hard time getting started. I don't know how formal to make it sound or how much I should have about myself and/or my experience.

Can anyone give me some tips?

    Thanks!

  • Is the movie 'the House at the End of the Street' demonic?

I want to see that movie pretty bad, but I heard that it was demonic... not sure if that's true or not.

If you've seen it, can you tell me if it is? (Without giving anything away haha)

    Also, is it any good?

    Have a good night! Thanks!

  • Poll: On a scale of 1-10, how hard is it for you to watch videos that show animal cruelty?

or documentaries that reveal the harsh conditions that animals have to live through from birth to slaughter.

I'm no vegetarian (trust me) but I just can't handle them...

  • Is there any way to stop the delay on my Wii?

Every time I play a game (Dr. Mario or Super Mario) there's a delay between when I press the button and when it actually goes. It's because the Wii is hooked up to a larger TV, but is there any way to sync it somehow?

    Thanks! Have a good day!
