Why do I cry so intensely over some movies/TV shows/fictional characters?
I'm genuinely concerned. There are times when I get so emotional about TV shows (and sometimes movies) that, if a character dies, I cry as if a real person has died. It comes with a great deal of pain, and I don't think it's normal to get so hurt by it. The crying is pretty intense, and it doesn't just come and go; I sometimes remember it an hour later and start crying again. If anyone can explain why this could be, that would be great.
1 AnswerPsychology6 years agoHow is the film program at Syracuse University?
I'm looking into applying for the film program at Syracuse University, and I was wondering if anyone could tell me more about what the students learn about, the size of classrooms, and whether it is enjoyable.
Thanks!
2 AnswersHigher Education (University +)7 years agoWhy have I stopped caring?
I used to be a straight A student who couldn't bare the thought of getting a B at the end of a quarter for a class. I knew I had to work hard in order to get into a good school and in order to help my mother, who's struggling because of debt and her work. The only task I have is to do good in school.
But I've /completely/ stopped caring.
I'm in a very rigorous program at my school. This year has been especially difficult to cope with. But I've been neglecting to do a lot of homework since the beginning of the year. There were days where I stayed up till four in the morning before I actually started. Even then, I didn't get it all done.
I can't concentrate. I keep telling myself, "You have to do this." But it's not working. I keep mindlessly scrolling through the internet and feel like all the fuel has run out. I have /no/ strength left.
I cry about it and feel guilty about it. I know I have to help my mother. It breaks me to know that I'm letting her down. But I just can't focus.
It's not just school work, but other stuff too. I've stopped caring about /myself/. Brushing my teeth and showering is a burden. I used to work out, and now I don't. Literally all I do is sit in front of the computer all day. I have the sense to know I'm slowly killing myself here, but that /still/ doesn't make me change.
I have no idea what has happened. I was wondering if someone could help me out and tell me what's going on. Can anyone relate?
1 AnswerWomen's Health7 years agoCan you differentiate between the words vague and abstract?
Please use each in a sentence as an example and try to be as thorough as possible. I'm having a bit of trouble differentiating between the two words, but dictionary.com doesn't recognize them as synonyms.
So what would be the difference between "vague concept" and "abstract concept", for instance? Thanks.

1 AnswerHigher Education (University +)8 years agoWould the following be a quadratic equation?
Would this be a quadratic equation? 5x^2
Why or why not?
Can you give examples of what would count as a quadratic equation and what wouldn't count as a quadratic equation?
6 AnswersMathematics8 years agoEvery now and then, I have this brief sharp pain go through my pinkie, and I have no idea what it is?
It's almost like a spasm. A sharp pain shoots through my pinkie for about 10 seconds or so and then it disappears. It happens maybe once or twice a month? I'm not sure how often- just often enough for me to notice. What could be causing it?
1 AnswerPain & Pain Management8 years agoCan someone please explain why the answer to this problem is what it is?
So I was on Khan Academy.
The problem starts at 3:18: https://www.khanacademy.org/test-prep/sat-math/v/s...
I'm not 100% sure Khan has the right answer.
This is how I see it. K contains some fraction of both set X and set Y. Am I right? As in, k= 1/a x X + 1/b x Y, where a could equal b. Or is that wrong? In that case, please define K for me the correct way.
If I'm right, however, wouldn't the right answer be z= x+y -k? When it's already IMPLIED than k has members of both x and y, so there's no need to repeat k twice?
I am having huge, huge issues because of this problem. So, someone, please explain it in a simple but detailed manner.
Thank you!

2 AnswersCurrent Events8 years agoHow can I learn to persevere in writing?
I love to write, but I have an issue. An idea usually strikes me and I have this short burst of passion. I write while it lasts but, soon enough, the need to write runs out and I don't feel like doing it anymore.
I started writing this fanfiction one day, and got some pretty good feedback, but I wasn't into after a while and I didn't continue it. I feel very bad and wish I could learn how to keep going and motivate myself.
I'm pretty efficient for poems because they don't have to be long and I finish them, but how can I handle stories?
Thanks. :)
1 AnswerBooks & Authors8 years agoIs a comma required before the word "too" if "too" ends the sentence?

"Nancy wanted a piece of chocolate too" or "Nancy wanted a piece of chocolate, too?" Or are both correct? Or does it depend on the sentence?
Please give as thorough of an explanation as possible and answer only if you know for SURE.
Thanks! :)

4 AnswersMathematics8 years agoWhy is x+3= 10 not a function and simply an equation?
I was on Khan Academy, and Khan was explaining the difference between functions and equations. But I didn't understand why x+3=10 wasn't a function. I have a weak grasp on the subject of functions, so can someone help me out with this?
Thanks. :)
5 AnswersMathematics8 years agoCan someone please give quotes from the Bible about things that are inapplicable/considered flawed today?
As in, quotes that depict, for instance, a punishment for a sin that no one would carry out today, or something that contradicts itself, or something that most (even the religious) should consider ridiculous/inapplicable to daily life or don't follow. Another thing that would be great is if you could pinpoint any gender biases. I've never read the Bible before and am therefore wondering what flaws it has for purely educational purposes.
Thank you to anyone who directly answers my question without any biases or bad intentions!
3 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agoWhat is intelligent design?
The definition given on the Internet is the following: "The theory that life, or the universe, cannot have arisen by chance and was designed and created by some intelligent entity." I'm a bit confused, especially by what "intelligent entity" is supposed to mean. Is that pretty much a fancy, deceiving way of saying "God"? Or does it mean something else?
Thanks!
