  • Is there a way to delete thousands of emails at once, instead of 20 at a time?

I was offline for several months, so the emails piled up. I do not have time to sit all day deleting at the rate of 20 here, 20 there. It used to be I could delete the entire inbox, but that option does not seem to be there anymore. Am I missing something, or should I just let yahoo email alone? If I can't clear it, why should I ever use it again?

  • Do any liberals have any constructive ideas for alternatives for...?

    1) the health care proposal

    2) universal registration of voting-age persons

    3) anything else

    There are just 5 rules for this discussion;

    1. No foul language. As you know, I rarely block people, but for

foul language, insults or accusatory snide comments I will report or block.

    2. I ask that you try to stay on the subject that you started out with unless it naturally progresses into others.

    3. I will not be answering questions with questions unless for clarification purposes.

    4. And this is the big one for me, I ask that you be honest. If you

are a liberal present yourself as such and understand the topic which

you wish to discuss. I will not have time to research my answers beyond

my own knowledge of them and ask that you please research your

questions carefully, being as clear as possible in your request for

debate. I will not tolerate answers such as "It is Bush's fault" unless

you have the data to back up your response. I likewise will not respond

with "It is Obama's fault of Clinton's fault" without having data that

    I can direct you too.

    5. Any subject that becomes too cumbersome I will refer to

email or other forms of discussion. While I am open to all subjects,

swarming of a particular subject may require more time to debate

    specifically. I hope you understand.

  • I have an antique crackerjack 'toy' prize I can't find the value of. Can anyone help?

It's roughly the size of a silver dollar, maybe smaller. A six-pointed star with the words "crackerjack police" on it. Looks like it was made to fit into a boys' (sic) pocket buttonhole. Reminds me of little boys from the '60s playing cops and robbers, only older, I think. If I remember right, in the '60s we had pin-on badges. I have been looking for days, with no success. Thank you.

  • Is there anyone from Toledo Ohio who...?

...might be able to help me? I have a daughter who was on her way home for christmas from michigan. While waiting in toledo for the next bus, she was mugged by some crackhead. Her father is trying to get $ to go and get her, but she has nowhere to sleep, not even a shed w/a space heater- nothing.

The shelters are all full. I don't know what to do, as her dad won't have any $ until Friday. Is there anyone with a workable idea or a shed/garage to spare?

  • Just what holiday is it that atheists...?

celebrate around this time? Why do they insist on 'Happy Holidays', if they have no holiday? I was just answering a question which wished everyone Merry Christmas and Atheists were offended at not being included in the greeting. I don't ask very many questions, but just had to know this one.

  • How crazy is this- DHS definition?

I was just gong to put this as an answer to a question being asked, but someone has reported it. (I don't know why- noone was personally insulted, no adult content. Oh yeah- probably because someone didn't like it that he thought Obama was screwing up)

In any case- this concerns the DHS definition of a home-grown terrorist:

{Guess how DHS defines who is a terrorist now?

...it generated a memo defining dozens of additional groups – animal rights activists, black separatists, tax protesters, even worshippers of the Norse god Odin – as potential "threats." ...

...Apparently, the DHS analyzes the "threat" level of Internet news websites like WorldNetDaily, for the lexicon defines "alternative media" as "a term used to describe various information sources that provide a forum for interpretations of events and issues that differ radically from those presented in mass media products and outlets." ... the lexicon includes definitions of extremism across a broad spectrum of issues: anarchy, animal rights extremism, black nationalism, Cuban independence, environmentalism, Jewish extremism, Mexican separatism, right-wing militias, white supremacists, the anti-war movement and more...

    "Dress may include a shaved head or very short hair," the report states, "jeans, thin suspenders, combat boots or Doc Martens, a bomber jacket, and tattoos of Nazi-like emblems." }

I mean- hang on a sec...

doesn't "...sources that provide a forum for interpretations of events and issues that differ radically from those presented in mass media..." sound a lot like "anyone with a different opinion than..."

and weren't there a lot of anti-war protesters during Bush... and haven't there been since the '60s?

and then there's the 'jeans and combat boots' crap. I wear jeans and work boots (similar to combat boots). I am against out-of-control taxing (not taxes in general), and (oh no!) I have different opinions than the media. Yikes, I must be dangerous! lololol.......

  • Question for the muslims online right now- why...?

were you in such a hurry to delete 'Clive L's question? He asked; "I would like to ask YO if she thinks it is acceptable for these Muslim Barbarians?". I answered. The question was deleted before I could submit my answer, but that's good, because it meant I emailed it to him instead. Along with the answer were bits of proof of the stealth jihad, as well as access to files full of more proof. My question basically is: What were you afraid of? and Are you trying to prevent anyone knowing the purpose behind the insistence of sharia law in cultures not your own? Too many people know, y'know, what is going on. Only those with an ulterior motive fear the truth. I'll be looking forward to your answers. Thank you.

  • Would you consider this rude?

I normally lock my screen door because I don't want my toddler grandson to get out unnoticed. When my daughter (not his mother) wants to come in from work or... she know to knock. So- while my grandson is taking a nap a few minutes ago, I grabbed the opportunity for a quick shower. While in there I hear a knock at the door. Thinking it my daughter or a friend, I wrap a large towel around me and go to the door- thinking I'd only be a second. At the door was someone unknown. I answer and ask; "Can I help you?' The girl answers she's with the Obama campaign. I interrupted with an apology and told her I was voting McCain, thank you. I tried to go back to the shower to rinse the suds from my hair, but she insisted;"But I just want to ask you a few questions." she said. I told her I needed to finish my shower and was not interested. Once more I tried to shut the door (which opens outward- she was between it and the jamb) when she said; "I just need to know why you won't consider Obama, and did you know McCain..." It was at this point I became angry at the rudeness, however all I did was shut the interior door on her speech. I finished my shower and came straight to my PC to ask this question. Again, to clarify, the question is; "Would you consider this rude?" Thank you.

  • Why would a certain person answer my question only to insult me without actually answering the question?

I asked if anyone knew the truth about the movie The Golden Compass, then tacked on a quote I picked up to show why I asked in the first place. I got an answer from someone called "Ard-Drui...", but when I went to start a discussion with them as to why I was insulted, but my question ignored, I found they refuse email and IM contact. This person made an assumption that because I used a quote, I must subscribe to said opinion. I have one thing to say to Ard-Drui...; I am Wiccan and was only asking what the truth was, not bashing anyone or anything. You should work on your self-esteem.

  • How many know the truth about the new kids' movie- 'The Golden Compass'?

Origins: The Golden Compass, a fantasy film starring Nicole Kidman that

is scheduled to be released into theaters on 7 December 2007, has been

drawing fire from concerned Christians. The film is based on Northern

Lights (released in the U.S. as The Golden Compass), the first offering in

Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials trilogy of children's books, a series

that follows the adventures of a streetwise girl who travels

through multiple worlds populated by witches, armor-plated bears, and

sinister ecclesiastical assassins to defeat the oppressive forces of a

    senile God.

Books of the trilogy have sold more than 15 million copies around the

world, with Northern Lights winning the Carnegie Medal for Children's

Literature in 1995 and in 2007 being awarded the 'Carnegie of Carnegies'

for the best children's book of the past 70 years. The Amber Spyglass, the

final book of the series, won The Whitbread Prize in 2001, making it the

first children's book to do so. The series' author, Philip Pullman, is an avowed atheist who has averred

that "I don't profess any religion; I don't think it's possible that there

is a God; I have the greatest difficulty in understanding what is meant by

the words 'spiritual' or 'spirituality.'" Critics of Pullman's books point

to the strong anti-religion and anti-God themes they incorporate, and

although literary works are subject to a variety of interpretations,

Pullman left little doubt about his intentions when he said in a 2003

interview with The Sydney Morning Herald that "My books are about killing

God." (Conservative British columnist Peter Hitchens labeled Pullman "The

Most Dangerous Author in Britain" and described him as the writer "the

atheists would have been praying for, if atheists prayed.")

Bill Donohue, president of The Catholic League, has condemned The Golden

Compass as a "pernicious" effort to indoctrinate children into

anti-Christian beliefs and has produced a 23-page pamphlet titled The

Golden Compass: Unmasked in which he maintains that Pullman "sells atheism

for kids." Donohoe told interviewer John Gibson on 9 October 2007 why he

believes Christians should stay away from the film:

Look, the movie is based on the least offensive of the three books. And

they have dumbed down the worst elements in the movie because they don't

want to make Christians angry and they want to make money. Our concern is

this, unsuspecting Christian parents may want to take their kid to the

movie, it opens up December 7th and say, this wasn't troubling, then we'll

buy the books. So the movie is the bait for the books which are profoundly

anti-Catholic and at the same time selling atheism.

Other reviewers, however, have described Pullman's works as being more

generally anti-religion rather than specifically anti-Christian or

    anti-Catholic:

In "His Dark Materials," Pullman's criticisms of organized religion come

across as anti-authoritarian and anti-ascetic rather than anti-doctrinal.

(Jesus isn't mentioned in any of the books, although Pullman has hinted

that He might figure in a forthcoming sequel, "The Book of Dust.") His

fundamental objection is to ideological tyranny and the rejection of this

world in favor of an idealized afterlife, regardless of creed. As one of

the novel's pagan characters puts it, "Every church is the same: control,

    destroy, obliterate every good feeling."
