Suggestions for a dust free, clumping cat litter?
I've just used up the last of my old cat litter, so I am now looking for a new cat litter for my neutered 10 year old cat. I can't even remember the name of his old litter; it was something cheap, unscented, and clumping. He suffers from feline asthma and stage 2 kidney disease, so he urinates frequently and because of the asthma, the litter must be as dust free as possible and it must be unscented. I would also prefer a clumping litter. He is my only cat and he has excellent litter box habits. He has yet to have any problems with urinary tract infections. Price is unimportant. I have been looking at Swheat Scoop and World's Best. Has anyone had good experiences with those? Or does anyone have additional suggestions? Thank you!
3 AnswersCats4 years agoWhat supplements do you give your horses?
I'm considering bagging my own supplements to save a bit of money and I'm curious as to what others are giving their horses.
I have Artie, my 24 y/o on SmartFlex Senior, SmartMuscle Mass, and Farrier's Formula Double Strength. Fantom, my 15 y/o is on SmartFlex II and Farrier's Formula Double Strength. For the summer I am also giving SimpliFly and electrolytes.
Thanks!
5 AnswersHorses5 years agoWhat brand of guinea pig hay do you feed/recommend?
I have a pair of 4 y/o males. I used to feed them Oxbow timothy hay, but switched to timothy gold which the pigs and I have been very happy with. I recently moved and unfortunately, timothy gold has been hard to find.
What brand do you use/suggest/recommend? I will likely have to either order in bulk or switch brands :( thank you!
4 AnswersRodents5 years agoTorn about what kind of stalls mat to get...?
I need to purchase stall mats in 2-3 weeks and I'm stuck on what to get. I'm torn between getting something thinner (1/4"ish) with good drainage or something thicker (3/4"ish) which I feel would have more cushion. What do you think would be best? Thank you!

1 AnswerHorses5 years agoTips for helping my cat get used to my new apartment?
Our cat was a stray kitten when we took him in... he's been with us since, but the deal always was that he would go with me when I moved out. Almost 9 years later, I am moving into my first (pet friendly) apartment and he is joining me.
If it helps, he's a neutered male, indoor, front declawed (not my decision, I was 11), and he'll be 9 this fall. He is very easygoing and has always been very easy to care for. He went to the vet in February and they said he looks great. I already have all of the supplies that I will need to care for him.
What can I do to make his transition easier? Would one of those calming plug ins maybe help? Thank you very much from Pickle and I :)
Cats5 years agoWhat can I do to get rid of blackheads/sebaceous filaments?
I'm a 20 y/o female who has never had bad acne, but I do have sebaceous filaments (basically tiny blackheads) on my nose and in the middle of my chin. I'd say that I have combination skin... Just a little oily in my "t-zone".
I use a cleanser once or twice a day (only once if my skin feels dry or if I forget lol) followed by toner and a little face moisturizer. I don't wear a lot of face makeup except for concealer on red spots and under my eyes, some powder on my nose, and blush. I remove all of my makeup when I shower at night.
Basically, what can I do to get rid of or lessen the appearance of these little blackheads? Are there any additional products that I should use or any things that I should do that I am not doing? Anything in my routine I should change? Thank you :)
2 AnswersOther - Skin & Body5 years agoWhat is the best food to feed my cat?
Basically, I m finally moving into my own apartment and I am taking my childhood cat with me. I have checked and the apartment complex does allow cats. Right now, my father is feeding him Purina One. I d like to switch him to a higher quality food that suits his individual needs. He is a 9 year old neutered domestic short hair. He was 12.5 lbs when I took him in for his check up on February and he does not suffer from any health conditions (blood work came back great). Any suggestions for a high quality senior cat food? Money is not an object. Thank you!
3 AnswersCats5 years agoWhat qualities and/or qualifications are important for a stable/ranch manager to have?
My dream job is to manage a stable/ranch. I am 19 now and I have been around horses since I was 5.. I ve ridden since I was 7, leased my first pony at 14, and bought my first horse when I was just about to turn 15, so, in short, I have a decent amount of experience. Since I am so young, I have plenty of time to any gain the experience and/or education necessary for me to work my dream job. I am interested in learning what my fellow horse people feel make a great stable manager. What qualifications and qualities do you think that great stable manager needs to have? Maybe give examples of good or bad stable managers you have met and why they were good or bad. Thank you.
2 AnswersOther - Careers & Employment5 years agoWhat kind of heartworm prevention do you use? Any particular reason why?
I have a small (5-6 lb) neutered male dog. I was working at an animal hospital that did not offer the ProHeart 6 injection, so I have been giving him Iverhart Max 6-12 lbs monthly for 5 months. I now work at an animal hospital that does offer the injection, so I am, of course, considering switching to that. I am curious as to what you all use for heartworm prevention and you reason why you use that particular one. Thank you!
3 AnswersDogs5 years agoHow different are your horses from each other?
I am curious about how different people's horses are from each other (if you own multiple, sold one for a different one, leased one and then owned one, leased one and then another, etc, etc). I'm interested in all aspects (age, gender, breed, training, personality, etc).
For instance (this is the short version), I half leased a ShetlandxQH pony, then leased and bought a much bigger warmblood (who I still have), and then I bought a slightly smaller warmblood (who I also still have). I guess that I got to thinking about how different my first pony was from the much bigger horses that I have currently. Now I'm curious about how different other people's horses are (like, have you had all sorrel QHs or have they been very different?) Thanks!
13 AnswersHorses5 years agoWhy do people curl their eyelashes?
I've been wearing makeup since maybe 7th grade (I'm a sophomore in college now) and I've never known/understood why you should curl your lashes. Mine have only been curled maybe two or three times (when my family convinced me get my makeup done at the makeup counter). So why do people curl their eyelashes? What are the benefits? Does it make your eyes look any different than if you didn't? Also, should you curl them before or after you apply mascara? Thank you :)
15 AnswersMakeup6 years agoExercise ideas for a senior horse?
I have a 23ish year old warmblood gelding. Ive ridden him as a hunter, lower level dressage horse, and as a cowboy dressage horse. I alternate between riding him and his younger "brother", so we usually go for a short, light ride 3 days per. Does anyone have any suggestions for exercises to do with him or while riding him (keeping in mind that he senior)? Even though we can t do what we used to, I would still like to give him a little something to do and keep his mind active. Thank you!!
2 AnswersHorses6 years agoHow do you litter box train a dog?
I adopted a 2 year old long haired chihuahua this summer and potty trained him. Lately it has been challenging to get him to potty because it has been getting colder. I have decided to litter box train him for the winter... How can I train him to use a litter box? Any tips would be greatly appreciated!
7 AnswersDogs6 years agoHow to hand tame a shy gerbil...?
About a week and a half ago I adopted a pair of gerbil who are brothers.
Peter is smaller (perhaps he was the runt of the litter?) but he is very friendly... as soon as I put my hand in the cage, he runs over to sit on my hand.
Chip loves to run on the wheel and he is awake a bit more often than Peter. When I lay my hand flat on the floor of their cage, he will run over and sit on my hand for a split second... not long enough to really hold or handle him. What can I do to make Chip sit in my hand longer so that I can start practicing lifting him a few inches? Thank you.

2 AnswersRodents7 years agoExercises to soften a horse who is heavy on your hands?
My younger gelding is a wonderful horse with a sweet disposition... I'm sure we will have a great partnership, but as of right now, he is very heavy on my hands. I try to keep my hands very light and only wiggle my reins to get his nose vertical... I do not see-saw. What can I do to help my horse to not lay on my hands so much? Thank you!
4 AnswersHorses7 years agoExercises and/or patterns to do on the flat?
I have a 22 year old gelding with mild arthritis (he takes supplements to help with it). That being said, we only walk, trot and canter. No jumping, sliding stops or upper level dressage movements ;) I feel like we go through the same routine every ride... both my old man and I are getting bored. Could anyone suggest any exercises or patterns to do? He is a very nice horse and doesn't need to work on anything. If anyone is making any mistakes, it's me, just FYI. Thank you so much :) my old man and I appreciate it!
1 AnswerHorses7 years agoFolliculitis questions...?
For about a week some bumps in my arm pit have been bothering me. Today I went into the doctor and she said it looks like folliculitis which is a minor staph infection. She prescribed sulfameth/trimethoprim tablets and mupirocin which is an ointment. What will the ointment do? Also what do I do if the bumps come to a head? Thank you!!!

I would like an updo that looks good with my dress. My hair goes about 1 1/2 inches past my collar bone. Thank you so much for your input :)
