I am looking for a prayer shawl. I am not sure where to find one. I live near Edmonton, Alberta. Can you get one in a synagouge, and how much do they cost on average?
5 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoLDS - Why is your church trying to bring back animal sacrifice at the temple?
This was proposed by Joseph Smith Jr, when he began trying to reinstate the Aaronic priesthood.
18 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoLDS - Why did Joseph Smith claim that the Book of Mormon was written in Egyptian?
He claims that he translated the Book of Mormon from Egyptian into King James English. If this book was written by a lost tribe of the Jewish people who fled Jerusalem in 400bc why would they write in Egyptian? No God fearing, self respecting Jew of that time period would be writing in anything but Hebrew.
Any thoughts?
17 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoEvolutionists - How do you respond to this?
Anthropologists and biologists refer to "evolutionists" in the 19th century as those who believed that the cultures or life forms being studied are evolving to a particular form (see Platonic form). This original theory of evolution was seen as pseudo-science by its contemporaries, similar in standing as phrenology. Very few scientists today, if any, believe that evolution in culture or biology works that way, and serious discussions generally take caution to distance themselves from that perspective.[citation needed] Evolutionary biology explains biotic changes in terms of internal processes and gradual development as a natural progression of previously existing lifeforms. Evolution neither denies nor requires a role for divine

32 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoMormons - Where do you go to gain "your own testimony"?
Every time I hear this it is followed by "read the Book of Mormon".
I say read your Bible. Understand the Hebrew people and who God is and what He was doing. Then understand what the real mission of Jesus was. Then you would understand how wrong Joseph Smith and his teaching are.
6 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoMormons - Can you back your theology with more then just "Pray and Believe"?
This is a very cult like answer. In the Bible Paul asks us to test everything. To take it back to Scriptures and to take it back to historical data. Everything in the Bible can be proven, but when challenged about inconsistencies with the Book of Mormon and the strange truths about Joseph Smith, the only thing we get is "Pray and you will see it is true"
I did pray. God said it is not true.
7 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoMormons - Which Native American tribes did Jesus visit and why is this not reflected in their oral traditions?
You claim Jesus came to the America's and shared the Gospel with the native people, but you never state which tribe. I have studied Native Traditions and Folklore and see nothing about anybody like Jesus in any stories. Also, without the Resurrection, what strength would the word of Jesus have over here. The only reason that the whole movement started in Jerusalem is because of the Resurrection. Until then, not even Jesus' closest followers really believed Him. I mean Peter and John both went back to fishing following the death of Jesus.
5 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoMormons - Why would John the Baptist give the Aaronic Priesthood to Joseph Smith?
John the Baptist spoke out against the Aaronic priesthood who where the Pharisee and the Sadducee's. He was ushering in a new way, through Jesus.
Jesus also was critical of the Aaron priesthood and really had nothing good to say about them all through the Bible
7 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhen did God tell us to put our sandals back on?
More then once in the Bible, God asked people to remove their sandals because the ground they were on was Holy and sacred. God has never asked us to put them back on. Do you think we have lost our connection to the world?
6 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoI am a Christian but it seems too simple. Is there a more complicated way?
I mean just having faith that Jesus died on the cross for ours sins and repenting seems to easy to me.
I feel like I really need to work to get to heaven, or maybe read some different bibles, or go knocking on doors.
I mean did Paul really mean that we are saved through faith alone, not by works? Is it really this easy, or do I need to wear special under garments, or get my guidance from a magazine that changes its mind every couple of years on what it believes?
A little help here
21 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoI am thinking about becoming Mormon but I have a question?
You guys claim Jesus was a lesser god then God. How does that work in light of the First Commandment? I thought we were to have "no" other gods but the God I AM?
Also why would the Creator of everything, who doesn't want us to have dealings with other gods, tell us that the only way to Heaven is to deal with this lesser God?
This seems confusing, can you give a better answer then just "read the book of mormon and pray on it" I would like some kind of concrete answer using only the bible

9 AnswersLesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender1 decade agoJehovah's and Mormons - What did Jesus save us from?
Both of your sects teach that we are still bound by the Laws of Moses and that we will never know until our deaths if we have received the gift of Salvation.
Under the laws of Moses, there was a series of sacrifices that could be could performed to provide atonement for any sins that we had caused. As you read the bible you will also see that God is referred to as the God of Moses and Abraham and the God of David.
God is not a God of the dead, so as Jesus points out, we know that Moses, Abraham and David at least went to sit at the right hand of God. Now, where these good men? Not by the ten commandments. Moses was a murderer, Abraham a liar and David an adulterer and worse. But Jesus claimed as He walked the earth that they were in Heaven.
Why did they go to Heaven? Because they preformed the prescribed sin offerings and were repentant in their hearts. They went to Heaven without Jesus.
So if we are to receive Jesus for salvation, but we still have to follow all the Laws of Moses, then what are we free from?
Did Jesus come to save us or to save the bulls and lamb?

am in the middle of a 3 month vow and it is amazing. I know it has nothing to do with salvation. I am calling on a promise that the Father made to us, that as we grow nearer to Him, He will grow nearer to us.
